Dabria, a death consultant, is hired to investigate Max Remo’s life expectancy, but Max is unlike any man she’s ever known. His existence is steeped in death—the dark kind of death her dad has always warned her about. When her father disappears and the world’s fate falls into her hands, only Max can help. What starts as a friction-filled collaboration soon begins to sizzle as Max’s lifeless eyes … lifeless eyes and foreign charm wear down Dabria’s defenses.
Their journey takes them through the scorching heat of Africa into the cool silence of the Darkness, where their final obstacle demands a sacrifice neither of them may be willing to make.

This is the 1st book I’ve read written by Carmen Fox; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

In Love with a Shadow: Reaper’s Daughter #1 is a delightful story about the Grim Reaper’s secret daughter, Dabria. The author, Carmen Fox, creates a version of the Reaper that is more grey than black, more compassionate, and kind than vengeful and grim. His daughter is a very likable young woman with a quick wit and a strong sense of self.
Carmen Fox introduces us to supernatural beings called the Shadows, of whom Max is one. Shadows are in the same business as the Reaper. How the two factions operate is an exciting part of the story. Max and Dabria find themselves working quite closely together to solve a mystery, save their families and the world, and stop a war, all while falling for each other.
The book is a page-turner and a thoroughly enjoyable, easy read. I will definitely read the next book in the series.

Such a great read! Dabria’s father is the Grim Reaper and she is part reaper and part shadow. Her father kept her a secret from her so the council wouldn’t kill her. Her father goes to Africa for work and goes missing and she must find him before the council rules him a traitor. Dabria meets Max, a Shadow Walker, and they must work together to find her father and his friends, even though they don’t trust each other. The attraction builds between Dabria and Max as they work together and I loved the chemistry. An absolutely incredible read and one I highly recommend.

ONE INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!
Slip-n-slide! Carmen laid this baby out with such stunning wonder, along with all the hard knocks, snags, tweaks and jumbles that makes this baby sing loud and proud, wrapping this gem up sleek, shiny and tight. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, booting this gem into a tempest, bursting it into a frenzy with an life-changing realization. A churning vortex full of harrowing trials and arduous tribulations, noting the striking twists and wicked turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. This baby may be quick, but there is nothing short about it. Satisfaction rocks this jewel, bringing it home with such intensity and precision, riding roughshod and delivering one block busting delight. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back exposing an undeniable connection, binding them to one another perfectly. The characters are authentic and realistic with qualities and traits that transform into amazing personalities. The scenes are so colorfully descriptive it paints an elaborate backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Outstanding job Carmen, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
The story line was great, the character work was fabulous, and the book had a smooth flow to it. This is the first book by this author that I’ve read, but it won’t be the last.

A Reaper falling in love with a Shadow? It’s happened before. Dabria is part reaper and part shadow. Her dad is the Grim Reaper and has kept her a secret all her life, so the council don’t kill her. Her mother disappeared years ago and no one has been able to find her. When her father goes missing on a mission in Africa she has to find him before the council declares him a traitor and hunts him. But someone has tricked her into revealing where a Shadow named Max is, and now she and Max have to work together, because wherever her father is, is also where several of his friends have been taken. If they are in the Eternal Night they won’t be able to get them. Or will they? Dabria has powers she never knew about. A well-written paranormal story with Grim Reapers, Shadow Walkers and ghosts.
The father of Dabria is a Grim Reaper and for his work he has to go to Africa where a war is raging. Dabria can move through her powers to any place she imagines. That’s how she meets Maximus Remo, who turns out to be a Shadow Walker. Their relationship is based on distrust of each other until Max rescues her from a near-death attack. Ultimately, they join forces because of a common goal; finding her father and his 4 friends to save the world.
Even though Max and Dabria distrust each other first, you feel the tense build-up between them and the sexual load becomes clearer towards the end of the story. Nicely built up without giving away too much. If you believe in a life after death then there are journeys of Dabria between different worlds in which souls can come after their death. That could give you an impression and a sense of what it could be like
