This is the third book in the Knights of the Realm series, and it is just as much of a page-turner as the first and second! I recommend this book series!
#“I can’t believe you stepped in front of that blade for Dexter.”
“I didn’t do it for him.” Adamantly, he shook his head. “I did it for you, Reid.”
Her brows drew together in confusion. “What do you mean—for me?”
“I didn’t realize I loved you until you were kidnapped. By then, it was too late. You’d just married Dexter that day.” He sighed.#
Okay, so I i know this isn’t really what the story is about. But oh Ackley my heart bleeds for you, how can she not love you ass well. I do.
I kept waiting for her to realise that she didn’t love Dexter and only wanted the union to change and improve the kingdom. Really why else wouldn’t she have sex with her husband, if it wasn’t because she was in love with someone else?
The leader of the Knight could have assassinated Dexter and then Reid could be with Ackley. But no. Me and Reid definitely don’t have the same taste in men. – sorry, it breaks my heart. Especially because throughout the whole book, he’s there for her and they’re the better mach.
On that note, back to the actual story. There wasn’t a dull moment. More and more characters is joining the story, wicked planing thwarting everyone and setting everyone on edge. There’s a lot of back stabbing.
Okay so I also sort of hoped that Gordon would turn out to be one of the bad guys. And btw Gytha, you can’t have Ackley!
What I missed was more information about the leader of the Knight. Really what’s wrong with her? What went wrong in her head and why?
I strongly recommend this series to everyone and I do hope you’ll like Dexter better than I.
‘Hidden Knights’ wraps up everything we wanted to know about Reid’s story. It takes us along on one more quest that will help save a kingdom, and introduces us to a different category of ‘cause and effect’. One decision made far in the past has led us all to this moment.
It feels like the first two books were absolutely the setup that led us to this moment. You meet two separate casts in each book, but here they are all drawn together and have to work around one another. Unrequited feelings hang in the air while new loves blossom. Former enemies are forced to play nice as a greater threat lingers on the horizon. All while Reid is dealing with intense emotional turmoil.
There is devastation. There is loss. There are bumps in the road. And all of them are deliciously realistic. War breeds tragedy and Jennifer Anne Davis doesn’t sweep it under the rug.
If you’ve been with this series from the beginning, you know the kinds of trials Reid has had to face. You’ve watched her grow from someone who adapted to the roles given to her into someone who makes the rules for herself. What you’ll find in ‘Hidden Knights’ is the woman we all knew she would someday be. And she does not disappoint.
This is definitely a solid ending for the ‘Knights of the Realm’ series.
