Not even his mafia capo best friend.Until he meets her…Trigger Warning: This book contains dark elements.
A troubled child who grew up to be a troubled adult and a woman on the run. When Kiki ends up on Guy’s island things get interesting. These two face challenges, but will love win in the end.?? I really enjoyed this story!
Ok, this was not what I was expecting but boy, oh boy did Bry Ann nail the mark with this one!!
Kiki runs from her abusive husband to a deserted island, only things don’t go exactly how she thought it would.
Be ready to laugh until your sides hurt with this one!!
Bry Ann is one of my favorite authors but for me Guy was lacking a little. I’m so used to her dark romances being darker.
Kiki is immature and there were a few times in the book I found her annoying. I really like Guy. He’s antisocial and lives on an island alone but his love for Kiki makes him seem more….human for a lack of a better word. I liked their dynamic and playfulness with each other.
Overall I enjoyed Kiki & Guys story. Bry Ann still remains one of my favorite authors and I look forward to what’s to come!
Well, yet once again Bry Ann showed us her brilliant skill
of making an amazing story!!!
I loved Guy and Kiki’s story soo much. Throughout the plot,my heart sank,i cried, i wanted to
kill and laughed, soo so much. This is amazing.
Paradoxical, unique talent of my Bry Ann to twist two tortured souls into a story full of light. Loved it and yet again bowing to Bry for her amazing skills of making our heart melt.
Another hit, 5+Stars!!! Love this author’s books…
I loved this story. Guy had a tragic childhood, but has survived only to live a lonely life. Katrina married an abuser and has escaped battered and scared. When these two come together, the story just gets better. I loved the characters from Bry Ann’s other books that appear in the story. It’s fast-paced and captured me from the first page. It made me sad at times and laugh at other times. Read it today.
A breath of fresh air!
I just love this book! It’s got the darkness that I love Bry Ann for, but also a lightness and humour that comes with the personalities of Guy and Kiki. Who can be scared when Guy is around? He’s just one big soft, but tough hero……And Kiki? Well, I relate to her in so many ways……especially the blushing and giggling LOL!!
This is another perfect addition to Bry Ann’s books which link in to the Rose’s and Thorns series and I’m genuinely sad that I’ve come to the end of Guy’s story….. but hopefully we’ll see more of these characters if Rain gets her own story???
Highly recommended!
Well the author did it again… this book was tragic and redemptive all at once. I loved following Guy (and Kiki for that matter) on his journey from childhood to adulthood, from broken to finding Kiki and love. I cried I’ll be honest, but that is just par for the story; how you cannot read this broken history (of both characters) and not feel is beyond me.
This author excels (in all her stories) at taking agonizing, life shattering moments, realistic horrors and having her characters endure and come out on the other side. This book has action and passion but it is also a journey of self-discovery, redemption, revenge, and romance. In the real world there is no black and white and I think the author captures that with both her plot but also with the decisions the characters make. Life is not easy, but we all deserve a HEA and that is what draws me to this author’s story time and time again.
This story is balanced so well I never felt bored or disappointed. The characters are well detailed and fun to read about. I think Guy and Kiki are perfect for each other as they have so much in common yet are totally different. I think the setting for this story is also right on point. I don’t think Guy and Kiki could have connected the way they did if they were not as isolated as they were. Over all, if you are new to this author this is a great story to start with, it is a standalone so you won’t be missing anything but it is also a great way to understand her stories better. If you are already a fan, you need nothing from me, just get your one click on now, LOL. I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review.
5 out of 5-stars
Guy is a socially awkward computer nerd who hates living in society. After years of living on the streets and surviving because of his best friend Frances, he moves away from society and the warped ways of people. He does best on his own and lives on his own private island away from everyone. He likes it that way. He runs his own business and is very well off.
Katrina needs to get away from her life and wants to hide out on an island so that her abuser cannot find her. She needs time to heal from the last beating she received. However, she is not prepared for the island and how dangerous it could be. When a storm rolls in, she is scared and doesn’t know what to do. When she hears a man’s voice trying to coax her to go with him for safety, is surprised to find someone else on the deserted island.
Bry Ann hit it another home run with this book. I love her books and this one does not disappoint. The characters in her stories may be dealing with a lot from their childhoods, but they always find the one person who can complete them and make them whole again. These characters have a lot going on but when they meet and get to know each other, they find that they are a perfect match. There are so many lines in this book that I loved, but a couple that really stood out to me and made me smile were “And let me tell ya, nothing leads to better sex than a happy guy and a confident female. And we have some bomb-a** sex that day.” This is so true. Confidence in either a man or a woman is so sexy. I also loved the reference to Seven, “He comes back in the room with—I’m not kidding you—a sword. Yep. Apparently, a “co-mobster” of Frances’s (I have no idea what to call him) uses swords as a weapon and now he’s got Guy all interested in it.” I also love the part about Bart. Bry Ann’s book always make me cry, laugh, and get so angry at the characters for being so stupid at times.
I love Guy’s awkwardness and his little quirks, but he was trained by one the best from the streets on how to take care of himself, and he can be a force to be reckoned with if provoked. I give this story a 5-star review and I look forward to more stories from Bry Ann in the future. You really have to read this book, it’s a wonderful story and a beautiful beginning for Guy and Kiki.
Remarkable Dark Love Story!
I absolutely loved this dark romance about two people who have very tragic pasts but come together and learn how to get beyond their pasts and learn how to love and survive. The story is tragic, funny and utterly phenomenal. Guy and Kiki are two characters that will make your heartache for them at times and that will make you fall deeply in love with them. Such a terrific story.
Loved every second of it. Highly recommend.
