The Funeral is a short and delight to read. I truly enjoyed reading this book and it was a delight. I enjoyed the characters and it was well written. It has a good storyline. I look forward to reading more books from this author.
Sweet and tender – everyone is curious how they will be remembered after they die. Janice’s love for Charles is evident as it is pure. It is about the man and his heart not the money or prestige. Beautifully written.
While this is only a extremely short story Marcia has the ability to draw you in from the first page and keep you engaged until you turn the last page

4 Review of The Funeral by Marcia Carrington
This was a quick read that was a tad unusual. The story opens with Janice Althorpe mourning the death of her fiancee., Charles Fallmont.
What happens when fate intervenes and the plans that you thought you had for the future are destroyed?
Trying to come to terms with Charle’s sudden death, memories keep surfacing whilst she is attending his memorial service.
Struggling to come to terms with what has happened, she is comforted by his daughter Maureen, and at the same time his son Jackson is sending her scathing glances.
The emotions that brought to the surface add to the intensity of the read. Just when you think you know what will happen, it all gets turned upside down.
This is a well written short novella packed with drama and intrigue. The author brings strong ,realistic characters and weaves a sad yet beautiful love story. She does a great job describing both her characters and scenes, moves the story quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This wonderfully written book was well worth the read with the great character and storyline development that kept me in total awe throughout the entire book!
Janice is attending the funeral of her employer .. the man she loved and was going to marry. She sits alone remembering her life with Charles. While Charles’ daughter welcomes her, his son does not. He calls her a gold digger and she only saw his father as an opportunity to get rich quick.
The tears come, the smiles come. Although she will miss him more than anything,, she wouldn’t have missed her life with him for anything.
As the casket is placed in the hearse, an elderly man approaches her, stumbles, and she reaches out to grab him before he falls. She winds up in back seat of his car, a driver up front…. and from there she is abducted. Did Charles’ son plan this .. was her life in danger?
This is a very short read, less than 25 pages. Although a short story, the author has packed a lot of information and emotion into her characters. Grab a tissue .. you may need one.. or two.
Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this contemporary romance. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
