Loved this Christmas romance that will give you plenty of warm Christmas fuzzies. Nothing is better than spending time in Marietta at Christmas time, it will for sure put you in the holiday mood. Great chemistry between Lucky and Rachel. Loved Betsy and Dave too!!
Lucky has returned to his grandparent’s farm to help through the holidays when he meets podcaster, Rachel with her contest of first kiss, when he enters his grandparents. Lucky soon needs to make the decision to keep the farm going or returning to vet school.
This is the story “about finding your way home again”. I highly recommend this book, can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Kaylie Newell’s Christmas at Sleigh Bell Farm is a wonderfully sweet Christmas romance. There is so much to enjoy in this holiday read. I loved the attraction and chemistry between Lucky and Rachel. Christmas at Sleigh Bell Farm is one of my favorite holiday romances this season, I wasn’t quite ready to reach the end.
What there perfect book to put you into the Christmas spirit. It has a noisy family and small town ready to help neighbors and hot cowboy and cowgirl I mean what more does it need. This book really was a fun read, the author has you laughing and crying all at once. I enjoyed coming back and reading about Marrietta. This book does have sex in it but it does not have any foul language. I really enjoyed how not matter what Patrick and Lucky were close like brothers and they seemed like two peas in a pod. I lived Rachel and Cloe for the same they were like sister and always willing to do anything for each other. OH and I loved Bill I think we all have a Bill in our lives for sure. If you are looking for a fun book this one will not disappoint.
I really enjoyed this story. I like the characters and storyline. Two young people wanting to make a go of their individual dreams, though it may not be what their family thinks is best for them. She is seeing success with her podcast. He needs to forgive himself for a childhood accident. She believes in him; he needs to start believing in himself. I like how they both encouraged each other to go after what’s in their heart. The grandparents were a treasure to this story as were the animals. This book is perfect for anyone looking for a feel-good holiday romance.
This was such a beautiful story. From the very beginning I knew this was a special story with characters to match. Thus far this is one of my favorite Christmas reads this year. Believe it or not I have already read at least ten! I have actually read a few other books by this author and enjoyed them all. If you’re looking for feel good romance, I do recommend you check out this author.
Rachel and Lucky…..
When Rachel and Lucky first spy each other from a distance, there is attraction. But neither knows the other nor are either looking for a relationship. Lucky is only in town long enough to give a hand to his beloved grandparent’s farm. Then he’s back to Vet school to fulfill his parent’s wishes. Lucky had a horrible incident happen in his past that keeps him from trusting his own instincts, wants and needs. As a result, he finds himself consistently seeking approval from his father. But does he really need it? Is his father that much of a tyrant? Lucky will soon find out that it’s important to follow your heart if you want true happiness. In life and in love.
Rachel is a server at the Graff Hotel in Marietta. But her passion lies with podcasting. One day she hopes her show will be popular enough that podcasting could be her only occupation. Rachel is currently running a contest to award free publicity for the month of December to the winner. All the applicants need to do is send in “First Kiss” stories. And when she receives Lucky’s story, she is inspired. Lucky entered the contest with the story of his grandparent’s first kiss.
When Rachel and Lucky officially meet, their attraction grows and so does their relationship; albeit slowly. The development of Rachel and Lucky’s relationship grew from friends to more with a believable pace which I appreciated. I felt connected to these two wonderful characters. As the story rolls on, there is a bit of angst and an obstacle here and there to which gives the story some complexity. Rachel and Lucky will have a bit of work to find that happily-ever-after. Don’t worry, I promise you there is a wonderful ending. This was such an enjoyable book and I definitely recommend it for a sit-by-the-fire, comfy chair and hot cocoa Christmas read for anyone looking for a feel-good holiday romance.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
I received this arc in exchange for an honest review. Kaylie Newell’s Book was wonderful. It tugs at the heartstrings, it is a sweet holiday read and there was a nice amount of romance. The hero, Lucky, aka Jim Elliott had been going to school to be a veterinarian. He dropped out to help with the family’s farm. His grandparents are 83 and running the sleigh and carriage ride operation, caring for the farm and the animals. Lucky realizes they are running out of money and may have to sell the farm. His other family members aren’t able to help run the operation. Lucky wants to open a sanctuary to accept injured and abused horses as well as keep on the other aspects of the farm. He knows his parents want him to follow in his dads footsteps and be a vet. So he is torn. In the book we see his struggle to choose the best path for him. He also has been feeling guilty since he was 10 and had an accident and started a fire, burning himself, the barn and the horses. He doesn’t want to choose a path where he disappoints his family again.
Rachel O’Rourke is a server at the Graff Hotel and has started her own podcast featuring stories about first kisses. She is running a contest for free advertising for a month to the best story. Lucky enters his grandparents story and they win. This is his idea to try and get more business for the sleigh rides to help keep the farm afloat. He and Rachel feel chemistry. She falls in love with him because he is such a warm and caring guy. But she knows his plan to return to grad school so she doesn’t want to start anything. She is also afraid of getting hurt.
Lucky and Rachel enjoy a sweet romance. The donkeys that pull the sleigh, Dave and Betsy, also are a cute touch along with Rachel’s cat Lucille Ball. The inclusion of the horse Lucky agrees to save is another example of Lucky’s caring nature. One message Lucky puts out there is he wants to be seen as himself, Jim. He was given the nickname Lucky after he survived the fire and then no one used his given name. As the story progresses we get to see the interactions with Rachel and Lucky, between Lucky and his family and Rachel and her friend and Lucky’s grandparents. I hated for the book to end as I wanted to read more about life on the farm in Marietta, Montana.
I always enjoy revisiting Marietta.
What I liked:
The writing style
The characters
Part of a series: The Elliotts of Montana
Standalone
HEA
Epilogue
I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC from Tule Publishing.
Christmas at Sleigh Bell Farm is all about Christmas, legacy and romance. A charming tale that where one who has given up on love for herself must be willing to try one more time. It is also about trying to save the family business as “Lucky gives up on a dream for now to help the family.
Like the Harlow Brothers in a previous series, Jim “Lucky” Elliott must make some hard decisions. Kaylie Newell writes true hero stories of the everyday people in this world. Sometimes those people are every bit as important as the big save the world stories. The fictional town of Marietta is truly lucky to have so many of those everyday heroes.
4.5 Stars
An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Lucky Elliott is always trying to please his family and friends. He wants to do what he thinks is best for everyone else. His Dad wants him to be a veterinarian just like he is. Lucky has a way with animals but he doesn’t want to be a veterinarian, his dream is to have an animal sanctuary. He doesn’t tell his family because if he continues his grandparents dream he will be running the sleigh bell carriage rides. If he follows his father’s wishes he will be taking care of animals too. Both of these would be profitable businesses but the sanctuary is not a guaranteed success.
Lucky gets called home from school to help his grandfather for a little while, then he has decided to go back and get his degree. While he is home trying to help them save the farm he enters a contest for a podcast called First Kiss. He tells them the story of his grandparents first kiss and wins the contest. This gives him free advertising for a month which he thinks will help them get through the holiday season.
He brings Rachel to the farm to meet his grandparents and interview them for the contest which they have won.
This is a super sweet Christmas themed romance that will definitely get you into the festive spirit and for us down under it gives us a chance to dream of a white Christmas
Jim “Lucky” Elliott always does what is expected of him even to the point that he goes to veterinary school because that is what his father wants while all he really wants is to open a animal sanctuary on his grandparents farm They already care for unwanted horses and donkeys but he wants to take it larger When it looks like his grandparents could lose the farm he leaves vet school to return home to help them Then he sees a competition where he would get a month of free advertising perfect for the Christmas time when his grand parents run sleigh rides and sell Christmas trees. Rachel O’Rourke’s podcast is starting to take off and her first kiss competition should put it on the map When she picks the first kiss of Lucky’s grand parents she has no idea what she is starting She doesn’t believe in true love she has been burnt but she is starting to fall for the sweet country boy who is trying to save his grandparents farm but when investors try to take the farm will they be able to stop them. You will have to read to see if thy get a HEA
I love to read Christmas & Holiday books all year long. This is one of those books that I will be reading and re-reading for years to come. Let’s head back to Marietta my favorite place to be in the entire world…if it were real that is. Lucky Elliot comes home from vet school to help out his grandparents on their farm at the holiday time and to make some tough decisions. He thought he was only making decisions about the farm but life is funny like that you know.
A pod-cast & contest about love’s first kiss can get Sleigh Bell Farm it’s much needed advertising for free if they are the one’s picked. Rachel O’Rourke is the pod-cast reporter and she and Lucky get close as he helps her get to know his grandparents.
This book has everything I could want and more in a book at anytime of the year. It has the perfect amount of push and pull between characters, both main ones and supporting ones as well. There is so much true life written into this story that it simply gave me goose bumps sitting here writing this out. Our author has her hands and heart plugged into the cowboys, farmers and yes, those we call middle America and it shows. Marietta, Montana is a fictional town but it is one so many of us love like it is our own hometown. Reading this book I cried thinking I might be losing an institution long dear to our hearts. This book is now one of my two favorite Christmas books.
Very enjoyable storyline with the Elliott clan,I honestly didn’t want it to end.I look forward to reading more about this family in the next book in this series.Love the book cover with Lucky and Rachel.Love this town of Marietta, Montana I have read about this town from other authors.
Christmas at Sleigh Bell Farm by Kaylie Newell
It’s going to take more than luck to make his Christmas dreams come true
Jim “Lucky” Elliott is the country boy next door – charismatic, handsome and charming. But when he has to drop out of vet school to try and rescue his grandparents’ Marietta-based sleigh ride business and family farm, Lucky faces his hardest struggle yet.
Podcaster Rachel O’Rourke is done with broken hearts, but she can still find joy in other people’s happily-ever-afters. But when a real estate developer sets his sights on the Elliott land, Lucky will have to decide if the money means security for his family, or if he’ll fight for Sleigh Bell with Rachel by his side.
This is Rachel O’Rourke and Jim “Lucky” Elliott’s story.
Rachel O’Rourke looked up when the guy in the sheepskin jacket walked in. It was kind of hard not to.
She’d seen him outside the bar doors while she’d been bussing table four. He’d been reading her flyer. And then he’d taken it down and put it in his pocket.
Her heart had skipped a beat at that—a handsome young guy responding to her first kiss contest. But then she remembered he was probably taking the flyer because he had a first kiss story to tell. Which meant he was taken. Which meant she needed to concentrate on getting through her shift instead of daydreaming about first kiss stories, or her podcast finally taking off, or hunky men in Wranglers who looked exactly like young Clint Eastwood with the blue eyes to match.
Picking up a couple of beer mugs with a clink, she reminded herself she was done with men for a while anyway. She was done with their empty promises and fake declarations of love. And she was definitely through with thinking romance was in the cards for her. At least not the kind of romance she talked about on her show. The kind that you bored your grandkids with fifty years later.
Lucky Elliott wasn’t always lucky. Not by a long shot. But that’s what folks in town had always called him, and he’d always answered to it. Good-naturedly, of course. Because that was his thing.
But standing there, looking up at the Graff Hotel with the first snowflakes of the season swirling around his head, he wondered if anyone would ever call him by his given name. Or if they’d ever know him well enough to try.
Hunching his shoulders against the chilly Montana breeze, he reached for the door handle and opened it to a blast of warm, fragrant air. The place always smelled like cinnamon and wood smoke. And home. It was his favorite place to grab a beer whenever he came home from college. He hadn’t been back in a while, though. Graduate school, or trying to stay in graduate school, had overshadowed everything else lately, including stopping in at the Graff, and catching up with his friend who tended bar there.

This is a winning story from cover to cover with endearing characters and the perfect setting for romance to blossom. A young man finds himself at the crossroads: continue with vet school to ultimately please his father or pursue his dream of opening an animal sanctuary on his family’s ranch. Enter a young woman just starting her way with a podcast and looking for the perfect first kiss story. The best story is of his grandparents-both touching and lovely. She offers him the support and wisdom that he truly needs to choose the right path to take.

A sweet Christmas read with family drama, precious memories like a first kiss, saving a farm before it’s too late, a couple of donkeys and so much more. Lucky is home from the vet school working to find a miracle to help save his grandparent’s farm. He’s one that tries to be a people pleaser and puts others ahead of what he truly wants. Part of it stems from guilt and regret. Previously attending vet school was part of that. He wants to open an animal sanctuary but for him it’s an unreachable pipe dream until he means Rachel who is a podcaster. Winning a contest gives him some hope along with her believing in him. Plus seeing Rachel reach for her dreams and working to make them come true. They seem to instantly connect but their relationship grows slowly as time they spend together. Will Lucky ever believe in himself? Does the farm get saved in time? Overall an enjoyable read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC from Tule Publishing.
Lucky Elliott always did what everyone expected of him, even going to school to become a veterinarian like his father. But Lucky’s dream wasn’t to be a veterinarian, he wanted to open an animal sanctuary at his grandparents’ farm, Sleigh Bell Farm. They had already been taking in unwanted horses and donkeys for years. But the farm was starting to lose money and when Lucky was looking for a way to save it, he came across an ad for a contest with the prize of a month of free advertisement. All he had to do was get his grandparents to tell the story of their first kiss, which everyone knew was amazing. Lucky knew advertising could help keep the farm running a bit longer. But what Lucky didn’t expect was to fall for the girl who ran the podcast where the contest was being held.
Rachel O’Rourke’s podcast was just starting to take off and she was excited about her “First Kiss” contest. She had no idea her contest would lead her to love and a family that would welcome her with their arms wide open. The only problem was, Rachel was afraid to fall in love. She was afraid of getting hurt. As Rachel spends time with Lucky, she learns to trust him, but the future is still unclear. Lucky could still be leaving town any time. But at Christmas time, the most wonderful time of the year, anything can happen.
This is one of those sweet stories that you wish would never end. I think Rachel and Lucky really complimented and brought out the best of each other. I enjoyed learning about Lucky’s grandparents too. They could have a book of their own. And then there were the animals. Animals always make a book special to me. The donkeys, Betsy and Dave, stole a few scenes as did Rachel’s cat Lucille Ball. This book is perfect for anyone looking for a feel-good holiday romance.
