Toby and Jane shared a kiss in high school that was special, but Jane blew it off as a mistake to Toby. So the next day Toby asked someone else to the dance and Jane was crushed. They haven’t seen each other for 8 years and now both will be helping their friends with their wedding. Jane tries to hold Toby at arms length but with each passing day it gets harder and harder.
If you haven’t read a Sara Richardson book before you are in for a treat. She never disappoints. This is book one in her new series Silverado Lake.
Sara Richardson delivers a book filled with sweet, sexy and swoon-worthy moments. I connected with Jane from the start. She and Toby had sparks from the start of their reconnection. Loved watching the 2 of them discover what they really needed in life. A great start to the Silverado Lake series and I’m looking forward to future books in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.
Jane has never been back home for more than few days, now she is back for a wedding of her best friend and she has to spend few weeks.
Toby is back home to heal after accident. He finds work at ranch, working for Jane’s mother.
Jane is not happy that Toby is working there, then she finds out that he is best man and she is a maid of honor. Then there is a issue of a kiss they shared in High School.
Will both of them be able to move from painful past to happy future.
This story is awesome, loved the characters.
There is a second story in this book, it’s short story and it’s wonderful too.
I really connected with Jane, we have a lot in common. I love how she was able to come out of her shell as the story went on and to concour her fear. Toby was so charming and good to Jane, I’m so happy that they got their HEA. Looking forward to more of this series!!!
Jane Harding is an adjunct professor and romance novel author. Well her teaching contract is up and will not be renewed so I guess she is just an author for now. Toby Garrett, a bull rider, is home in Silverado Lake recovering from the shoulder injury he sustained being tossed by a bull. Jane is home in Silverado Lake to help her best friend Beth with her upcoming wedding and wondering what she will do if she isn’t teaching. Back in high school shy Jane and popular Toby shared a kiss at a party that all their friends witnessed and teased Jane about for the rest of the school year. and beyond. She is still being teased about it even now, years later. That kiss sent Jane running and she told Toby she didn’t even like him (Lie) Fast forward to the present. Jane is maid of honor for Beth’s wedding and Toby is best man for Beth’s fiance, Ethan. No avoiding each other now. Nowhere to run.
I loved this storyline. Jane and Toby are such interesting characters and the author has them growing a lot personally throughout the story. So much happens along the road to their HEA in this book. Such an entertaining read!
Jane is a character I can identify with. She is a little out of step with others and feels awkward. She returns home a little lost to attend her best friend’s wedding. She has secretly written a romance novel and is now on a timeline to write her second. She’s struggling. While home she meets up with her teenage crush who broke her heart. Toby is home recuperating from an injury from his rodeo riding. He takes a job helping out Jane’s mom at her guest ranch. The two cross paths and soon Jane has all kinds of inspiration for her writing. The two characters are both relatable and facing some crossroads in their path to their future. I liked the characters individually and even more as a couple. The book moved with a good pace and had a very sweet story. I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It started with one kiss!
Jane Harding’s teaching contract had just ended and her agent told her that the publisher didn’t like her next book, she had six weeks to rewrite the book and three of those were already spoken for as maid of honor for her best friend. Rodeo star Toby Garrett was home to recover from his surgery and when he found out that Jane would be the maid of honor, he wantd to see if the attraction in high school was still there even though they only had one kiss.
First Kiss with a Cowboy by Sara Richardson is all about what happens when the one kiss that Jane and Toby is something that neither of them has ever forgotten and now, they get the chance to date and figure out their future.
I wish I could give the book 4 ½ stars because it was a book that make the reader fall in love with Jane and Toby!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is such a good book!
I truly enjoyed reading it!
It’s a feel-good & moving story.
Jane & Toby, have known each other
for years. They’ve always had a little
bickering & competitive thing going on.
But things changed one New Years Eve.
Now, after not seeing or talking to one
another for years, they’re forced to be together as maid of honor & best man,
in their best friends wedding.
It’s everything you want in a true romance. Jane Toby, steal your
heart from the very first pages to the last.
A Must Read Story!!
That first kiss was a doozy!!
Aw, this is such a sweet sorta-second-chance romance. Jane and Toby share one hot — and immediately regrettable — kiss back in high school, and are now thrown together eight years later when their best friends are getting married. They both are at crossroads in their careers, so the chance to figure out if that kiss meant anything is too tempting to pass up.
I loved the small-town feel, and Toby sure is one hot cowboy. Jane is a delightful heroine, an every day girl who sometimes has the worst luck but she still pushes on through. The story really delved deep into their hidden grief and insecurities, making their eventual HEA all the sweeter. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This first book in the series was a sweet touching story about two individuals whose childhood and youth have molded them to whom they are today as adults.
Jane Harding and Toby Garrett were always competing in school . He the outgoing , athletic one, and she the shy and quiet one who was often ridicule by “the popular” crowd. During a HS party Toby kisses her, and should be been special, destroyed Jane.
Now back in town for their friends wedding, they are forced to work together.
Will they have a chance of opening their hearts and past to each other? Will they get a chance at love?
At times heartbreaking but also heartwarming, the story is a reminder on how one’s childhood and family dynamics truly affect one as an adult. This introduction to the series, makes the reader wanting to know whose story will be next.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Forever. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
First Kiss with a Cowboy is the first book by Sara Richardson that I’ve read, but it certainly won’t be the last. This sweet romance was the perfect read for the mood I was in.
Toby Garrett is a rodeo cowboy who unfortunately sustained a devastating injury to his shoulder. He’s had surgery and is in the process of rehabbing. He’s returned home to where he grew up to be the best man in his friend’s wedding, but he’s also going to spend time at home since he’s got nothing better to do at the moment until he’s cleared. He ends up finding work at a local ranch that will end up bringing him much more than a paycheck when he comes face-to-face with the girl who broke his heart in high school.
Jane Harding hasn’t been home for years. Once her father passed away, she preferred to continue living her life in California with few trips back to where she grew up. She’s now back to help plan her best friend’s wedding and to be the maid of honor and there’s also the issue of rewriting her second book that is due to her editor. What she doesn’t expect to encounter is the man who kissed her in high school and because of her own insecurities pushed him away even though it was the last thing she wanted to do.
When Jane and Toby see one another, it’s clear there is a pull between them. They’ve both gone through a lot and while Toby would be open to picking things up with Jane, she is exactly the opposite. The last thing she wants is to get hurt and because of that, she’s shut herself off from relationships and anything scary. Will Toby be able to bring her out of her protective shell, or will she let the man that she’s always cared about slip away again?
This was a really enjoyable read and while it started a little slow for me, it definitely picked up and I wanted to know what happened between these two! I look forward to seeing what else happens in Silverado Lake!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
Jane and Toby met when they were eight years old. Throughout their childhood, the argued and competed. Then “the kiss” happened their senior year, and typical teenaged misunderstandings occur. It is now years later, Jane is a college professor and writer and Toby is a successful bull rider. They are back for their best friends’ wedding, and old feelings are back. Overall, it was an enjoyable read, but I had a hard time warming up to Jane. She was emotionally stunted over an incident that occurred in High School and blamed Toby when it was really her that caused the problem. She is still upset about it 8-10 years later. They eventually work through their issue and get to their happily ever after.
