The good thing about this box set is that each story is a standalone story and can be read in any order. I am choosing to review Book 3: Too Bad…I Screwed It
There is an old adage to “never get your honey where you get your money” – in other words, office romances rarely work – not even in the fictional world of novels. Our characters, Mike and Theresa find this out the hard way. Mike is the alpha male [General Manager] of a management and business consulting firm and he hires Theresa to be the growing company’s Sales Manager. Recently returning to the work force after a bitter divorce, Theresa is surprised to be hired after what she feels is a horrible interview with Mike, but recognizing her skills and abilities, he hires her. To the author’s credit, their attraction to each other takes months to develop and doesn’t culminate until they are sent away for an overnight pitch to a major client. Their subsequent secret office romance burns into a raging inferno quickly, but just as quickly burns out when a random encounter with Theresa’s ex-husband sends Theresa in an emotional tailspin. A rollercoaster ride of a read.

I had read a couple of these stories as separate books before so I am reviewing each story separately. I really enjoyed each.
1. Too Bad I Couldn’t Resist
This really is intense from the minute Howard and Susan interact. The attraction is so strong it made me feel almost overwhelmed. Then they find out they are student and professor at the same school. That really throws a problem into any relationship they might want. Toss in David the blackmailer, Carol and Kimberly and things really end up much more twisted. I think the secondary characters add so much to this story. I feel the author came up with original settings for things to happen. The cinema bathroom, the library, and his desk made the passion relatable. I appreciate the author’s making the ending complete. I found where David was. Also I was happy to see the relationships developed and the characters explained and tied up.
2. To Bad..It’s Complicated
. This book grabbed me from the start and I didn’t set it down until I finished it.
I probably will be frowned at but I don’t think there is anything wrong with an attraction and/or relationship between steps. This story has more than that. There are a number of complications that go against these two getting together. There is Britney’s dad Chris who everyone likes including his stepson Pat. Since Chris is a politician anything can be a negative to his image. This story has so many twists such as Pat’s mom appearing to be money and status grabbing. She enters into what could have been a easy attraction between Britney and Pat and adds to put issues between them. I really liked Britney and Chris’s best friends. They added a lot to the story also. I enjoyed the ending finding out more about Pat’s mom. Her issues end up worse than coveting money and status. I think at the end I feel sorry for Chris. He appears to want to do his best for his family but he sure gets more than his share of unhappiness. I hope the author puts together a story for Chris. I really enjoyed this story and it kept my attention to the end.
3. Too Bad…We Didn’t Realize
This story really held my attention since it pretty well focused on Damian and Vanessa. From the beginning of college they had an attraction to each other. It may have started rocky but the journey getting to their hea sure is entertaining. It was funny how far they went as “friends” before they became more. Damian comes across as a great guy. He just seems too focused on his career to realize his attachment to Vanessa. She on the other hand is just a touch too introverted to own up to what is between them. It takes her being in a “relationship” with someone else to make her stop and think. This is really a fun story.
4. Too Bad…I Screwed It
I feel this is an original concept. The characters are totally different than I expected. Mike the GM for Alpha Consults is hiring an assistant and when he interviews Theresa he decides to hire her over his first choice. Okay there was his first mistake in my opinion. Mike comes across as a really nice guy. Tries to follow the rules and do a good job. He is unprepared for Theresa. Right from the start I didn’t like her. As the story progresses and her manipulation of seducing Mike evolves I really disliked her. She really came across to me as conniving. I felt for her because of her experiences with her ex husband but I didn’t like how she went after what she wanted. I also felt she came across as unbalanced and Mike should have run. I’m not sure this is what the author was going for but this is my opinion of the story. Even though the story ends with a some what hea I really had hoped for better for Mike.
As I previously said, I had read the first two of the stories as separate books before they were put together in this package. I’m glad I got to read them all. This author knows how to hook my on her stories and I can’t wait for her next.
I’ve read “Too Bad… We Didn’t Realize” and “Too Bad… We Didn’t Realize” from Emma Vikes’ Undeniable Attractions: The Too Bad Series Contemporary Romance Box Set and all I can say is “total fun”. Also totally different but with the common feature of strong and well written plots and well crafted casts of characters. Definitely a great boxset choice for those in the mood for … fun. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The boxset definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the boxset is definitely one to read, and it is easy to recommend.
The stories from Too Bad Romance are an addiction. My favorite is the first one. Theresa is trying to get over her ex husband who not only cheated on her but caused her a great tragedy. When she starts a new job she never expected that it would bring a new love into her life. Mike was captivated by Theresa right from the beginning and their relationship was going just fine until she encounters her ex with the woman that broke them apart. Her emotions went into overdrive causing her to lash out at the one an who truly loved her. Will they be able to recover from her out bust to start anew.
