Texas rancher Liam Dale’s one night stand over a year and a half ago was pivital in turning his life around, but a short straw was the catalist that would give him a chance at the kind of love he wasn’t sure he deserved.
Trisha Gilbert has made a home for herself in Shelter Creek, California with wonderful work and the best of friends. But her life is about to turn upside down when the Texas man she spent one night with almost two years ago turns up at her best friends ranch.
With pasts that seem determined to hold them both back from happiness, both Trisha and Liam will have to learn to trust not only themselves but in the possibility of a forever love.
This is a sweet, clean book that does deal with the life changing effects of a one night stand. With wonderful characters and an interesting plot you’ll enjoy the emotional ride of this tale of two people destined to find each other against all odds.
I received an ARC and voluntarily offer this review.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This book deserves more than 5 stars. I adored this story. This is the third book of this series and I have fallen in love with all of the characters. It was wonderful to see the prior couples here. It was like catching up with old friends.
Liam Dale lives in Texas but has drawn a short straw and has to go to Shelter Creek, CA to see how to raise cattle differently to become organic. Liam has been on the ranch since returning from rehab. He doesn’t really want to go but knows his oldest brother Wyatt is really looking out for his best interest. The ex-rodeo cowboy, after getting hurt with a bull crushing his leg, became addicted to pain-killers. It was after meeting an “angel” at his friend’s wedding, that he realizes that he has to change.
Once at the ranch of a friend and fellow ex-rodeo cowboy, Liam is introduced to Jace’s wife and her friend, Trisha Gilbert, his “angel”. But Trisha doesn’t seem happy to see him. He has a lot to make up for since he ran out on her and didn’t leave his name or number. Trisha has a surprise for Liam, herself.
This book touched so many spots that I was glued to the book. My favorite format for a book is the dual POV format. Getting into the characters’ mind to read their thoughts in a given situation really helps to to identify with them and to understand their actions so much better. I really needed that here as there were times when I would have felt a little negative towards Trisha’s sometimes harsh behavior towards Liam. But to see her thoughts really made her so much more human and vulnerable instead. Both characters have so much to love about them that it was a joy to see them overcome hurdles and get their HEA.
This is a wonderfully sweet, clean romance that anyone can enjoy. While this is the third in the series, this can be read as a stand-alone. Personally (since I adore cowboys) I highly recommend the entire series.
I hope that Ms. McEwen does more stories with the Dale brothers in Texas. I’m hoping Wyatt Dale is next!
Wow! Just wow is all I can say. Beautifully crafted story that touches upon very real circumstances. Addiction, single parenting and the courage it takes to overcome those obstacles along with the guts it takes to admit your faults and make amends. Throughout the story, you experience the pain and struggles the characters encounter and you can’t help but root for the handsome Texas cowboy and the single mom.
I received this copy free from the author and am under no obligation to leave a review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am freely sharing my opinion.
We are back in Shelter Creek and this time the story belongs to Trisha Gilbert and Liam Dale.
If you have read the previous stories in this series, you met Trisha Gilbert. Twice she has acted out of character and in both occasions the results have had life changing results. This second time, she became pregnant after a one night stand with a cowboy during a visit to friend in Texas.
Liam Dale was that cowboy. Little did Trisha know that that night she left such an impression on Liam that he changed his life for the better.
Fate interferes and he ends up going to Shelter Creek to learn about organic ranching from a family friend. Imagine both of their surprise when they see each other. Trisha is not happy about seeing him again, since she feels he left her as if she meant nothing, plus she doesn’t want to share their son. All this time, Liam has been trying to redeem himself and prove he is a better person since she last saw him.
While I never really warmed up to Trisha, I thought Liam was a tender, loving man , willing to learn and be a better man.
The story was educational as well as one highlighting very real circumstances. Addiction to pain killers and single parenting . A reality many face.
Though books one and two are still my favorite stories in this series, this was was engaging and entertaining.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
