Detective Corey Proctor is an ordinary cop working in a non-ordinary world who finds herself in a murder as dark as a stormy ocean. This case forces her to face trauma she thought she had silenced long ago but this murder is too close to home. This story will definitely keep you engaged with plot twists and fast action.
A great combination for a great story. But detective Corey Proctor lost her magic years ago. Action-packed with the most awesome characters, this well-written book will pull you in and hold you waiting for the next book in the series!

Death Comes Ashore by Corinne O’Flynn is the first book in the Witch Island Mystery series. In this book, the main character is Investigator Corey Proctor who works for the Office of Magical Law Enforcement. The story begins when a dead girl is found on the beach and it becomes her job to find the killer and another girl who is missing. This is a very suspenseful mystery with lots of interesting paranormal additions. The story was well written and the characters likeable. If your looking for a magical mystery with a hard edge, then you will love this book too. Death Comes Ashore is a magical murder mystery.
This was one of those books I couldn’t put down. It’s a really great mystery, thriller that had me hooked throughout. The storyline is well written and the characters are well developed. I highly recommend reading this book.

I really enjoyed this mystery. It had enough magic to suit me and the story was very good and laid excellent groundwork for the next in the series. I love the characters.

Death Comes Ashore is an interesting paranormal mystery and I really enjoyed it. Detective Corey is a witch who lost her magic when she was kidnaped and tortured as a child. I like how the author had the main character deal with what happened to her while investigating a crime at the same time. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Death Comes Ashore #1 – I enjoy this author’s work and this book is no exception. I found the storylines interesting with plenty of intrigue and suspense. The characters are interesting and as developed as their roles demand. This author does well with her descriptions and the pace is continuous. I like what happened with the main character during this investigation; self-discovery about herself while reliving a horrible time in her past during an investigation.
Ms. O’s stories are usually substantial and hard to put down. The only complaint I have is there is too much redundancy about the main character’s feelings about what another character experienced; yes, we got what happened to both characters so edit out some of the redundancies, please. This will make a good series because the main character does improve and embraces her strengths and weaknesses instead of denying who and what she is. I received this book through Booksprout. 4*
Ghosts of Witches Past – Ready for more of this author’s work. Interesting good and bad characters along with a believable, well-written mystery full of suspense and intrigue. A good read for all ages. This is my first book by this author and I’m hooked. 5*
Eamonn’s Tale #1 – Has a preview, which I appreciate knowing in advance before reading a book. This prequel introduces us to Eamonn and his disgrace. A well written, interesting short story that has more depth than the mention of how Eamonn attained his position in the book, Watcher of the Veil. This is my second story by Ms. Manifold and she’s writes interesting stories. 5*
Marigold’s Tale #2 – Has a preview, which I appreciate knowing in advance before reading a book. This prequel introduces us to Marigold, a witch, and the story behind her missing sister and the attack against Marigold and her loss. This is the third story I’ve read by Ms. O’Flynn and she hasn’t disappointed me with her writings. 5*
Watchers of the Veil #3 – This is not my first book by O’Flynn and I’m not sure if I’ve read Manifold previously, but WotV is an excellent read. It is a well written, fast paced suspense with interesting characters and a twisting plot. The book is mesmerizing; if you’ve ever read J. Hinchey or J. Butcher, you know what I mean – you can’t put the book down! I do wish I knew which books/short stories I should have read (listed in book) before reading WotV; I felt like I was missing something, a foundation. But not reading them, didn’t take away from this story. The last couple of chapters were a little weak/different from the rest of the story, which while not a cliffhanger, does suggest more is to come. Duh! 5*
Defenders of the Realm #4 – It’s been so long since I read Watchers that I forgot some of the storylines, but I did not forget Mother. What a heifer! Like all the rest of the series, there are multiple storylines that move quickly and keep the reader glued to the pages. I missed a couple of cuppas because the story was that good when I went dry. The personalities of the characters, as well as the emotions, run the gamut. Whatever you like/dislike, it’s here. The action and behaviors are always realistic and you don’t have the stupid formulas that many “authors” copy as their own. This series should be read from the beginning; I couldn’t have missed a book since each one is good! I contacted the author to review her books and received this copy through Booksprout. 5*
Loved the story of survival. Detective Corey Is a magical cop that lost most of her magic when she was kidnapped as a child. Now there is a murder that brings back so many memories. Can she find the killer? Can she find her friends daughter? Can she do this when so much of it brings back the horror of her past? What will happen?

Investigator Corey Proctor stood on the beach on Witch Island’s south coast, wondering who in the gathered crowd would have their memories erased today. Humans were not to see any sign of magic, and it was her job today to give the order for the Office of Magical Law Enforcement’s “blackcoats” to proceed with the memory wiping. The scene had to look exactly like a normal investigation being run by the Essex County Sheriff’s Office of Massachusetts. Fifteen years ago, at the age of 8, Corey possessed magic. But she was kidnapped, tortured, and abused by delusional magical wannabes who cut away her magical soul and she would never be the same, never get it back. Only a tiny bit remained which kept her in the magical realm. But the similarity to stripping out one’s memories was too close to her own experience of removing what made someone who they were, so she was very uncomfortable giving that order.
Lieutenant Inspector Danny Halloran greeted her at the crime scene. He told her they had a dead body, female in her 20’s, half buried in the sand – and witnesses said her bruises glowed. A thin, red fishing net was entangled her left arm. Corey went over to look at the body and had to hold back a panic attack! The victim looked enough like her to be her sister! Her wrists and ankles had ligature marks, and her eyes had the petechial hemorrhaging that indicated asphyxia.
Before this case, Corey could always manage to keep her past in the past, but this investigation is bringing back her old memories. Will she and her partner be able to solve this murder? Or it there something more personal going on?
This was a very well-written mystery with great characters and a well-paced story line. The dialog was really good and let us see into the character’s personalities as the magical worked under the eyes of the “mundanes” while hiding their abilities. Clues were given to stir up the reader’s imagination. This was an excellent book that was very satisfying to read!
A fantastic story of magic and mystery with a lot of twists and turns.
Well developed charcters… strong… deep…
Magic… mystery… villains in a well developed story to read…
A journey to find herselfs… fears to overcome… and true to be accepted to find your aim…
I’m looking forward to read other story about Detective Corey and her partner…

Phenomenal paranormal mystery/thriller! I didn’t want to put it down and when I had to it was all I could think about. The melding of mundane and magical was seamless and beautifully done. The characters were extremely interesting and believable. I had so much fun reading this. I hope there are more because I really would like to read more about Corey Proctor!
