When the only thing you’re good at is running or fighting, is a second chance at love even possible?Captain Maddox Stone is ready to put the men who messed with his family on a fast train to hell. Eliminating the enemy is the only thing he’s good at anyway. He sure as hell isn’t good at connecting. Of course, on the heels of that thought, his past comes walking through the door. Will he finally … he finally have the guts to explain what really happened that night so long ago?
Nothing on earth could bring Lieutenant River Seeger back to the ranch until his grandfather calls for help. With no other recourse, he returns to the Triple R, but makes it clear it’s for a limited time. He’s left the past behind and with it, his youthful dreams. But, since he’s here, shouldn’t he at least get some answers?
Two soldiers faced with the past. One man struggles with a tragic secret while the other one demands answers. What’s even worse? When Maddox deploys on a mission and River takes on the kidnappers, time is running out for one of them. The only thing for certain is they’re definitely cutting it close for any chance at a happy ending.

This is a great start to a series. Two such strong men who have a long history get a second chance. Both River and Maddox have such a connection but Mattox broke up with River and River was never given a reason why. As the different situations are addressed it brings more to the story out between these men. I liked the was the secondary characters are so much a part of the story. I can’t wait to read the next book.
Mad and River faced so much… together and apart… now they got another chance to make it work… Awesome book

Reese Knightley is a new-to-me author recommended by Kindle Alexander on her Kindle’s Krew group. I adore military stories that involve romance and action and Miss Knightley does a fabulous job combining these in “Cutting It Close”. I will most definitely be checking out her other books in this series and her other series as well.
Wow! Amazing and Explosive!
I love how this tale unfolded! I love how the backstory of the two main characters slowly unfolded! The introduction of the characters are done in several parts so it does not become confusing. I have to say I love the details in stories such as this because it makes me focus more.
Maddox and River had a painful history that has made them erect walls to their hearts. They were childhood friends who became more but something happened that made Maddox break it off with River all those years ago.
A crisis at the ranch brought them both back. Now, aside from navigating how they are feeling for each other after all these years, they have to resolve a conflict that might result badly. It might require their skills and their hearts to solve this one.
I love all of Ms. Reese Knightley’s books, they are some of my favorites and they keep getting better and better! I can’t wait for the next one!
I love me a good military MM romance, plus with this being also a second-chance romance, it pushed two of my buttons completely. Maddox and River’s characters are fantastic. They’re tough, sexy and together they’re amazing. It’s been eight years since Maddox had last seen River, despite the chance he took of returning every summer to see if River would come home to him. Betrayal, secrets, and stubbornness all combine to make this one fantastic read. The story didn’t go in the direction that I thought it would, which is a plus for me. I enjoyed this story and if you love a good military MM romance as I do, I do recommend giving this one a try. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
This was rather good story. It is a second chance romance with mild angst and steam, a bit of humor and a host of characters that I would love to know more about. There is a bit of family drama and mentions of child verbal and physical abuse but it does not dominate the story.
As action stories go, I enjoyed this one despite the pace being a bit too fast for me. The relationship is not the main focus since it’s been established years ago but due to unpredictable circumstances, both MCs lived separate lives for the past 8 years. This book shows the tight knit family that Infinity team created that seems to be the theme in this author’s previous books which she writes really well, the sense of belonging that you get from your chosen family rather than by blood.
I liked the banter between all the characters but the whole angst angle didn’t provide as much of an emotional punch as I would have liked. Action packed and HEA guaranteed made two hours well spent! I recommend it.
