In Saved by Grace, Natalie Oleson, her brothers, and father traveled to Belle Fourche to mend the rift between her father and his brother Nathan before her father dies and so that his children can be with family after spending his life traveling to make wooden limbs for those who needed them. Banker Cody Hammond lost his leg in an English war. But he’s lost more than that. His fighting parents forced him to go away to war and put him in an abysmal asylum when he returned. He has seen so little kindness that he is surly to scare people away. Natalie thinks helping him will give her father a reason to fight to live. She never expected to lose her heart. This was another wonderfully stirring romance by Kari with broken characters that help each other heal.
In When Shadows break, John was spoiled and selfish in the last book and he didn’t treat his sister Natalie as well as he should have, but he changed in this book. Alicia is shy and doesn’t speak up, but she did in this book when wrongs were happening by the selfish greedy Mr. Greely, who was determined to get her hand in marriage to use it and his privileges to ruin the Oleson family and take over her uncle’s bank. Both John and Alicia had to grow up and get past their lie of a courtship to protect her from Mr. Greely. He had to learn to be more responsible and a man worth of her and she had to learn how to take care of a house after to growing up with servants, who took care of everything.
In Along a Tangled Path, Will was tough. She had to be to survive her father’s treatment of her and make enough money working as a man to purchase her own homestead. She’s relied on herself for years. She’s stubborn and determined to show herself capable without stopping to listen to and trust in others. Charles didn’t want to babysit the new hired hand, who seems like he’s not strong enough for the job, until he discovers that she’s a woman. They’re attracted to each other, but Will is still determined to go her own way and succeed on her own terms regardless of who she might hurt along the way. When she finally obtains her goal she realizes she is alone in her success and that it wasn’t the land that she really wanted, but acceptance and love, which is what everyone wants in life.
In A Lady Loves Much, George Oleson wasn’t very likable when he was first introduced in book 4 in this series. He was angry and participated in mean jokes and pranks. He was emulating men in the bunk house he shouldn’t have by his actions and he also felt like no one respected him, which made him even madder. Phoebe Root seems to bring out a different side of him, one that is poetic and caring. But she’s been hurt by a brutish fiance who was only after her family’s business and her job doesn’t allow her stay in one place long, so she’s afraid to form attachments. It isn’t until she falls ill and George feels just as helpless as he did when his mother was sick and he couldn’t save her that he starts to realize the extent of his feelings for Phoebe and that if he doesn’t take the risk and give her his heart that he will regret it the rest of his life. This was a sweet conclusion to a wonderful series. I loved reading about the Olsen brothers and cousins and their expanding families. I only wish there were more family members to continue the series.
Brothers of Belle Fourche: Books 4-7 (Brothers of Belle Fourche #4-7) was a great read by Kari Trumbo. This box set consists of; Saved by Grace, When Shadows Break, Along a Tangled Path, and A Lady Loves Much. Saved by Grace (Brothers of Belle Fourche #4) was a great read by Kari Trumbo. Cody and Natalie are complete opposites. Natalie arrived in Belle Fourche with her sick father and three brothers. She finds herself at the mercy of her only remaining family, the Olesons. She is excited to meet an ornery man with a missing leg. She hopes that he’ll let her father make him him a prosthetic limb. Unfortunately it isn’t easy to get Cody to agree to anything. Cody lives a quiet and ordered life, until the day Natalie rushes into the bank he works at. When Shadows Break (Brothers of Belle Fourche #5) was a great read by Kari Trumbo. John Oleson has never been courted before. He catches Alicia Greely being badgered by a strange man. He decides to pretend to be courting her to save her from the man. Her parents want to see her married off quickly but her uncle is in no position to choose a worthy man for her. Along a Tangled Path (Brothers of Belle Fourche #6) was a great read by Kari Trumbo. Charles is working with the new ranch hands at the Broken Circle O when he is assigned a smaller mute man to watch over. He realizes pretty quickly that there is more to Will Galliger than meets the eye. Wilhelmina “Will” Galloper is doing whatever she needs to in order to own a plot of land. That even includes acting like a man. Will has pretended to be mute for three years as she has worked all over the West in order to earn enough money. Charles and Will fight their attraction. A Lady Loves Much (Brothers of Belle Fourche #7) was another great read by Kari Trumbo. George feels as though his mother’s death while he was a boy was his fault. He never wanted to find a wife because he feels that he will just lose her too. He seeks attention of the new poetry teacher, Phoebe. An illness takes over Belle Fourche and it’s just as bad as the one that took George’s mother. I really enjoyed reading George and Phoebe’s story and can’t wait to read more by the author.
I LOVED this series! What wholesome characters. I couldn’t finish 1 book fast enough to find out about the next sibling. She (the author) makes you feel right at home with them. I look forward to reading more books by Trumbo!

I loved this unique story about the family making limbs for the soldiers who lost them during the war. This is an amazing example of kindness winning. It’s just like the Bible states, “…the kindness of God leads you to repentance”. Kari truly has a gift for putting hard to love characters in a situation that softens them and soft characters become harder (stronger) because of working with that other person.
It was wonderful for the same narrator to continue this series!

I loved this book and it fits perfectly with the whole series! Sometimes a series can get old and redundant, but not so with Kari’s books! Each one is so unique! Without an actual cliff hanger, she even sets up the story line with the future book while putting the finishing touches on the previous book! Seamlessly! She’s so talented! I’ll never tire of her books!!!!
There was just one time several male characters we’re talking together that I had a hard time deciphering who was talking, but the narration was spot on besides that scene! Scott does a very good job with the female characters as well! It’s just so easy to get lost in the story when he’s narrating! I’m so glad these two (Kari and Scott) have continued to work together! They make a great team!!!

Another delightful book in this wonderful collection! I needed something light hearted and comical, and a woman pretending to be a man definitely fit the bill!
Scott Bennett continues narrating this series and he and Kari make such wonderful stories come alive!

A wonderful conclusion to this series! (Although I wish there were more!)
I bought this boxset audiobook but since I had already listened to the first two, I just copied my previous reviews!
It was a great feature to be able to just click directly to the correct book to read instead of fast forwarding through them blindly!!
I loved that young George fought his demons and grew up! His fragile heart was masked with anger and rebellious responses, but a poetic destiny awaits the youngest cousin!
Scott had a tougher job in this one I think because he had to repeat the voices for women in the earlier books and as usual, he’s was marvelous!
Kari writes like she’s telling true stories! The characters seem so real and multi-dimensional! I gasped at a death in shock like it was true!
I can’t wait for more of Kari and Scott’s audiobooks in this series or the next!
I have really enjoyed this series. I enjoyed getting to know the Oleson family and all the characters. I enjoyed each story. I hated for the series to end
