I gave the rumor mill fodder for a lifetime the day I walked away from a lucrative music career without explanation.People can talk all they like; my record stores are my lifeblood now, and I’m devoted solely to keeping them afloat in the digital age. There’s just one little thing distracting me: an earth-dwelling sunbeam named Owen Harper. I don’t know what I was thinking when I hired him. In … thinking when I hired him. In fact, maybe I wasn’t thinking at all.
Quirky and excitable, he’s a walking, talking danger to fragile objects. His energy alone could power a small country. That’s never been my style. Hell, I was probably cutting my first album while he was cutting teeth. He wants a music career, and I’m done with all that. We couldn’t be on more opposite paths.
He’s other things, too, though. Things that keep me up late at night. Things that make me forget I’m supposed to be simplifying.
And damn does he love to push my buttons.
Now I’m struggling to resist his pull, drowning in the memory of his skin under my hands, his mouth on mine. His laugh.
When a long shadow from my past comes calling with an offer I’d be stupid to refuse, there’s more on the line than the survival of the shops I’ve dedicated the last fifteen years of my life to.
Because those fragile objects I mentioned earlier? One of them might well be my heart.
Resonance is the second book in the Rhythm of Love series, and can be read as a standalone. It’s a steamy slow burn bisexual age-gap, boss/employee romance with lots of banter and two obstinate heroes who really, really don’t want to want the very thing they both need.

Because The Music Is Still Being Written
Resonance by Neve Wilder is a layered and spellbinding story about Owen a 24 years old , bundle of delightful contradictions , aspiring singer/songwriter and Dan a 40 years old, Country Music Legend, set on his ways.
A slow burn romance , told in dual POV , with emotional depth, appealing main and secondary characters , strong storylines, hilarious banter and hot AF sexy times.
An eloquent , heartwarming and well-crafted book, kind you hate to put down and especially hate to finish
Neve Wilder has the talent to play on readers’ heartstrings in ways that compel them to laughter and tears, and allows them to establish a deep emotional attachment to her characters.
Resonance ,book 2, in the Rhythm of Love series, can be read as standalone. Yet, you will enjoy it more , if you read and/or listen Dedicated , book 1, first.
I cannot recommend enough this book as is the type of tale you know , you’ll be reading again and again because it makes you feel good , believe that true love really does exist and everyone can have a HEA.
I received an early copy of Resonance and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow!! I loved this book!! My nose was burried deep in my kindle and I didn’t even want to take a break to sleep. Who’s needs sleep anyway? Sleep is for the weak. Also it was the day before my final exam, so the author will take responsibility for that.(I’m kidding but not really)
I wanted Dan’s story so bad since I read Dedicated. And this book is everything and more. I love Owen so much, especially how he has no brain-to-mouth filter. His brain is just a roller coaster. And the intensity and chemistry when they are together on page!!! Whoa!! Smoking hot!
This is dual POV and second in the series but it’s a standalone novel. I lo ve Neve’s writing. Infact she hooked me when I first read Dedicated. She makes it feel so real.
It was fun to meet Ru and Quinn! Is it just me or is something going on with Aiden and John??
I love friends to lovers and second chance romances but Owen and Dan belong together. I did feel really sad for Ryder. On that note, will he get a book? Pretty pretty please? We also meet Les and Evan from the first book, which made me want to read their book again.
Highly recommended!!

Resonance is the second book in the Rhythm of Love series by Never Wilder, although it definitely can be read as a stand alone. This novel has steam, humor, a workplace romance and music…I love it!
Dan and Owen are great characters who have fantastic chemistry together. Hot, fun and perfect. The supporting characters were interesting and fun. These are characters that make you care about them.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
4.5 Stars!
Neve Wilder’s Resonance was full of music, humor, and delicious tropey goodness. If you’re in the mood for a stoic MC paired with a sunshiney MC, then this will be your jam!
Dan retired from country music abruptly, and the rumor mill abounds. Now, he runs a record store with his quirky, fun-loving staff that keeps him on his toes. One, in particular. Owen has had a rough-go of it, and a series of circumstances land him in Dan’s record shop and leaving with a job. He also has hopes of being in the music industry. From days spent connecting over music to nights spent laughing and talking, Owen and Dan connect.
But can a cynical past country star with a broken heart find something new with an up-and-coming dreamer with more courage and life than Dan has felt in a while?
This was a slow-burn, sweet blooming gem of a novel! I was cackling within the first few pages. Reading this simply made me so ridiculously happy. New love forms, old loves reform, and it was something that unfurls so beautifully that I couldn’t look away. This definitely isn’t a fast-paced novel. It’s more that slow Southern drawl that reels you in slowly.
I loved Owen’s optimism as well as his insecurities. He is still young and figuring himself out in certain areas, but he owns his failures and side-steps. He also has no problem showing Dan that he’s interested, and it’s super adorable and hot, all at the same time.
Dan loved and lost, gave music a shot and retired, and struggled with maintaining his record store. He’s lived a lot more and is content in his ways, but Owen challenges him to confront his past and discover just what he wants. And Dan just got to be silly and happy, and watching these two banter off each other was ridiculously charming. Then you got his gem takes like, “Karaoke is a wart on the asshole of humanity.”
I loved these two.
Resonance is an easy, breezy novel even though there are some tougher subjects too. I really appreciated that. I simply could sit back and enjoy the hell out of it, and I can see myself reading it again and again.
For those wanting a character-driven story between two different men connecting over music and laughter (and drunken dances) then you’ll love this one as much as I did.
One of my largest complaints about romance books in general is that the get-together is too fast. It’s unrealistic. Resonance does NOT have this problem. The pacing of their relationship is entirely realistic, as are their reactions to what’s going on around them.
But the best part, the absolutely best part, is the dialogue in this book. Owen has NO filter on his mouth and the things he thinks/says are sometimes poetic, often hysterical. I adore him. I adore the way he pulls the fun-loving side of Dan out because of it.
Want a book that you can escape into for a while to laugh? You found it.
Neve Wilder has plenty things going for her as an author, but there is one shining point that never fails – the characters! The level of details we get to know about the characters, their thoughts and emotions is like a treat in a shiny box. You can’t help but think you KNOW them, which makes the story all the more gripping and personal. Brilliant.
Resonance brings us two people full of sarcasm, sass and opinions. And love they can’t avoid, not for lack of trying. A must read.
Love does come from unexpected places and people sometimes!
A bubbly, quirky sometimes accident-prone, lovely young musician/sales assistant Owen. A tired and disillusioned musician and record store owner. One so out of his depth and the other jaded and just want some peace and quiet, for the rest of his life, if possible. Or so he thought.
Owen is an aspiring musician and composer. He is lively, too full of energy and sweet and thoughtful. But whenever he tries to sing his own songs in front of people, he freezes. And he has been crushing on his boss for a while now. I love how his character is bright with a very sunny disposition despite what he has gone through when he was a child.
Dan is jaded, left his partner in the singing business, and just stopped his music. He has been living the life of a record store owner for a long while now. He does not talk about what happened to his career much. But having Owen in his store and in his life is somehow affecting change in his views and generally, in his life.
Will these two beautiful souls find in themselves the courage to go after their dreams and desires. A slow burn romance that will endear you to both Dan and Owen and their lovable personal traits and how they overcome everything in order to have what they desire. Congratulations Ms. Neve Wilder, another beautiful love story, loving it so much!
This one’s a bit sweeter than the first book in the series. Dan has suffered a broken heart in the past and his businesses are struggling, all of which has left its mark on him. Still he is not too tormented by it all and puts up only a token fight before acknowledging his feelings for Owen (to himself at least). Nevertheless, there is plenty of delicious angst in this story and the heat and longing between the MC’s is signature Neve Wilder. That is to say… smokin’ hot.
One of the things I liked best in Resonance is the humor. I’m Owen’s inner cheerleader’s number one fan. The teasing back and forth between Dan and Owen is incredibly funny and a brilliant way to show how at ease and comfortable they are with each other.
Dan’s brother, Aiden, makes an appearance and is wonderfully mysterious, a bad boy waiting for someone to show him love and understanding. Fingers crossed he gets his own story!
Resonance by Neve Wilder is the 2nd book in her A Rhythm of Love series, but can be read as a standalone.
This addition is a slow-burn, May/December book. For me, Resonance started a bit slow and it took a while for it to fully grab my attention.
What I did enjoy in this book was the characters’ personalities. This is definitely a opposite attract book. 24yo Owen is a one of those characters that everyone can relate to. He’s clumsy, funny and delightful. 40yo Dan is more serious about life. He’s grumpy and broody.
Watching their relationship develop was painful, both not willing to acknowledge the pull at first. However, when they decided to give it a go, that they did!! Owen was the balm to Dan’s soul.
Looking forward to more from this author!
I’ve been waiting for Dan’s book since I read his first scene in Dedicated. I loved the character from the beginning – his mysterious past, his knowledge of music and connections in the industry, his rough-hewn Marlboro Man looks…everything about him spoke to me. I could tell he had a soft spot for Owen, and in Resonance, that soft spot turns to a slow burn that eventually engulfs them both. Owen’s colorful exterior and delightful snarky personality belies the depths of his personality and perception. He’s a balm to Dan’s curmudgeonly soul, and Dan is the string that keeps Owen’s kite from flying away. They grow together, grounding and centering each other despite the differences in their ages.
Neve’s got a way with words that wraps me up and transports me to wherever her characters are, and she does that so well in this book filled with vivid sensory descriptions, especially scents.
Seeing Ru and Quinn again was fun, and meeting new characters made me squint and try to picture those characters in their own books. I found myself galloping ahead to find out what happened next, but made myself slow down to savor the beautifully crafted phrases. In fact, I read it a second time, more slowly, because I wasn’t ready to leave Dan and Owen’s world. I look forward to catching up with them in the next Rhythm of Love book.
You don’t have to have read Dedicated to enjoy this book but it would give you more context, and you should read Dedicated anyway because it’s fantastic.
*I received an advance copy of this book.*
Loved, loved, loved this book! Owen and Dan stole my heart and because of the classic Neve-style slow-burn, I couldn’t put my kindle down until the end. Owen is an adorably clumsy and bubbly 24 year-old, and is an aspiring singer/songwriter facing bouts of insecurity over whether he really belongs on stage or not. He works at Dan’s music store and so not only is this a slow-burn May/December romance, but also an employee/boss one (a very hot one!).
Neve does a stellar job at building the romance and exploring the magnetism between Owen and Dan. Since starting work, Owen has had a secret crush on Dan but figures it will never come to anything. Dan, a retired and grumpy country musician, doesn’t know when it happened, but starts to see the Owen in a different light and begins to struggle with admitting what he really wants (which is to simply spend more time with Owen). Trying to resist the attraction between them only leads to hot, sexy times and the start of something that, try as they might, leaves them unable to return to the “status quo”.
Resonance is the perfect follow up to book 1, Dedicated, but can be read as a standalone (I highly recommend giving Dedicated a read as well though). Neve has a way of bringing characters to life that offer a unique blend of drama, angst and emotional turmoil, as well as all the sweetness, banter and hope needed to wreck you in the best way.
