Bookbinder Quinn finds herself in a major bind when she’s blamed for the murder of her ex’s fiancée in this cozy mystery series kickoff full of charm, furry companions, and yummy recipesQuinn Victoria Caine is back in her quirky town of Vienna, Virginia, starting her new life as a bookbinder in her family-owned, charm-for-days bookshop, Prose & Scones. With her trusty German Shephard, … German Shephard, RBG—‘Ruff Barker’ Ginsburg—by her side, what can go wrong?
Okay, sure, bumping into her ex, Scott, or her former high school nemesis, Tricia, is a drag. It certainly doesn’t help that they have acquired the new hobby of shoving their recent engagement in her face every chance they get. But that doesn’t mean Quinn wanted to find Tricia dead in the road. So why does half the town think she may have done it?
Quinn is determined to find Tricia’s killer, even if it means partnering with her cousin-turned-nun, Sister Daria, and Detective Aiden Harrington, her older brother’s ‘too-movie-star-handsome-for-his-own good’ best friend. They believe she’s innocent, but of course that doesn’t influence the police, who peg her as their prime suspect. Or, at least until she’s poisoned.
But there is no way Quinn is going to stop now. Vienna is her town and—for better or worse—Tricia was one of their own. Someone may have killed the mocking girl, but no one’s going to stop the notorious QVC.

An engaging cozy mystery that kept me hooked. Harper Kincaid creates a world I’d like to inhabit (minus the murder of course.). I connected with Quinn immediately. She and Daria are 2 gals I’d love to have in my corner. RBG was a great sidekick. Here’s hoping for a more Q&A in the future. Looking forward to next book in the Bookbinding Mystery series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.
This book was an interesting read but there wasn’t a lot of concentration on Quinn’s job as a bookbinder and it didn’t seem to tie in with the murder mystery all that much. I thought that it would. Quinn was busy looking for clues to find our who the murderer was but some of those clues didn’t make a lot of sense to me. She found herself in a lot of trouble at the end and the hero did arrive to save the day so this book had a happy ending.
This was a fun cozy. Quinn is back in her home town working with her family and restoring old books. The murder victim is an old high school acquaintance. They weren’t close and the murder victim was engaged to an old beau of Quinns. Finger pointing starts immediately and Quinn is the person who found the body. The humor is fun. Her cousin Sister Daria and Quinn feed of each other and make you laugh. The story has some twists a surprises along with lots of suspects. This is easy-to-read and a fun escape.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
To Kill a Mocking Girl by Harper Kincaid was an engaging read that I couldn’t put down.
Ms. Kincaid has written a clever and well crafted mystery with likable characters and a small community background that was well described throughout the story. The twists and turns kept me guessing as Quinn often pursued clues that got her into trouble. However, Quinn would own up to her mistakes and I appreciated her honesty about those mistakes. Aiden, her brother’s best friend and now a police detective, was swoon worthy who did not pull punches when it came to Quinn and the investigation. I was totally mystified about who the killer was until the reveal and I love that about a mystery. I’m excited to read more in the series.

Small town girl learns the price of amateur sleuthing. The book restorer is back with family in her hometown after three years of teaching in Cambodia and finds her retired lawyer dad and horticulturist mom running a bookshop, her wildfire specialist brother taking a job as a local firefighter, her high school crush is the town’s police detective, and her BFF rebel cousin is a novitiate in the local nunnery! She runs into a whole lot of former classmates including the girl everyone loved to hate. Guess which one turns up murdered and who found the body. Clue to the latter: she owns a K-9 reject named RBG. Sleuthing can be dangerous and many relationships are not quite what they seem in this absorbing mystery. I loved it!
