True mates are found in the most unlikely of places. Rhy, a weretiger with a heart so big, that when an elderly woman comes in looking for her lost cat, Mr. Fluffkins, Rhy knew he had to help. He had no way of knowing that it would lead him to his true mate.Dillan (Mr. Fluffkins), has lived his whole life wishing he was more than just a cat. He never felt right walking around on four paws. He … on four paws. He tried to be a normal cat; tried to talk to other animals but it wasn’t possible. They couldn’t think in full sentences or communicate. It was more of feeling they had then what they thought. He watched television, so he could studying humans and what they did. He wanted to interact like humans. His owners showed one another so much love and were always doing something together. Dillan ached to have what they have.
Love, loss, and tender moments. A dream to have the one person that completes you.
Warning** Slow burn. This book is shifter Mpreg pregnancy is mentioned in this book. this is the first book of the series. The series will need to be read in order, as new couples will be introduced but old one’s stories will continue. They will be intertwined. This is a HEA.

I absolutely loved this book! Rhys and Dillian are just perfect together. Dillian is very excited and full of energy. Rhys is more relaxed. They balance each other. I loved the other characters in the book and I can’t wait for the next book! Highly Recommend!!
Interesting starter for an interesting series.
This book proved to be interesting. A private investigator (who happens to be a were tiger) agrees to take on a missing kitty (Mr. Fluffkins) case for an elderly lady, only to be confused by his own reaction to this cat’s scent. Can’t eat. Can’t sleep. Can’t concentrate on anything else. The case has plenty of confusing features like why is a cat that appears to be young is actually at least eighteen years old, according to the old lady?
On the other end, the missing kitty is a werecat who became very lost and is trying to find his way back to his human mistress. He misses being killed by an angry dog only to be captured by a drunk who presents him as a.”gift” to his girlfriend.
You can see where this story is going.
The characters are quite interesting, and I’m not talking about just t he main weretiger and werecat. There’s the rest of the weretiger’s buddies who form an informal “pride” of unrelated fellows. Rhy, the weretiger, definitely fills out as a great character lost in the throes of mating fever without even a knowable target. (“Why am I getting a hard-on in the presence of a silly cat’s scent?”) I especially like how Dillion is presented as a werecat hiding from unknown killers who has lost many formative years in learning the basics. Combine the two of them, and wow! Hot, steamy yumminess!
World-building is there but not as. much as I had wished. Oh, I’m sure it will get better in subsequent books (or, at least, I certainly hope so!). What I would hope would improve is the paragraph structure. Way too many times these are improperly written with too many POVs being represented when only one should be. That was a real downer for me. Too frustrating trying to figure out who’s talking!! If this doesn’t improve in the second novel, I’ll have to bale out, that’s how BAD it is.
PS: LOVE the cover art!!!!!!!!

Loved everything about this book
I really enjoyed the premise of this story and felt that there was something unique about the story line. I’d never read a story before where the shifter didn’t know they were a shifter but were in their animal form. The other way around, sure, in fact Badger to the Bone by Shelly Laurenston was a phenomenal example of that, but this was something different, something new to me and I was intrigued right away by the synopsis. What followed was a lot of the chase and very little actual plot or romantic progression. While that’s not always bad, it felt like it was missing a sense of balance and depth.
Both characters were interesting on their own with a lot of implied complication in their backgrounds. Moreso with Dillan than Rhy because of his situation though. That background isn’t delved into at all and remains a mystery, so if you’re looking for a neat ending with all the answers to this couple before we move on to the next with the subsequent book in the series, this isn’t for you. I will say though, that everything that this book was light on was deepened with book two, so if you’re intrigued now, I highly recommend continuing. This is a series that requires you to come back for more and I would not call it a standalone since questions are answered as the whole pride gets answers as they discover it all together.
Absolutely loved this book, it’s sweet and beautiful, poignantly sad at times. A delightful experience for cat lovers.
Adorable, can’t wait for the next one in the series!!
A cute approach to shifters and fated mates! I really liked how the author executed the story with just the right balance of humor and angst to make it a fun and entertaining story.
And the world created here promises even more fun to come!
Your mate is a house cat? What’s a weretiger to do?
What a wonderful, vibrant world Brea has created! The comradery, friendships, patience, tenderness, frustration, all combine to give the characters reality. You will feel their emotions as the story unfolds. I loved this book!
While there are multiple relationships gpimg on, the focus is on Dillan & Rhy. Rhy is part of a pack of big cat shifters, who also run a P.I. firm. His generous heart has him looking for a lost cat, Mr. Fluffkins. A delicious scent has him obsessing over the case. Fate drops the “cat” into his lap. His tiger screams: Mine. Mate. Dillan has lived most of his life as a cat, observing, trying to understand the human world. Getting lost, kidnapped and rescued are just the beginning. Learning to shift back into a human is hard. With the help of a new friend, he finds his way back. He knows nothing about mates. He only knows Rhy feels like home.
This book has it all: caring strangers, loyal friends, confused, scared mates, and a pack unique in its acceptance of those in need of a home. You will love this book! You need to get this book… Now.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Oh my freaking cuteness!
After reading More Than Blood by the same author, I was not ready for how sweet a book His Bewildered Mate really is.
I mean,Rhy goes looking for a missing cat and he’s surprised by how much he cares about finding Mr. Fluffkins. He loses sleep and his appetite because of it,but the most shocking thing is how arousing he finds the cat’s smell or how calming it is to sleep in its bed. In the mean time,Mr. Fluffkins, or better said Dillon, while searching for his way back home, discovers that he might get his wish to be human after all. Because what do you know…he’s been a cat shifter all along… And when these two meet, one whiff and it’s insta- everything: lust, need and love.
So,be ready, because His Bewildered Mate is cuteness, fluffiness and all kinds of adorable. Just what’s needed to keep you smiling while reading it.
Ok so another different book coming from this author.
This time we get a cute shifter with a bonus/surprise mpreg!
The story line was sweet. Rhy getting asked to find a cat… but he feels connected to the cat…
Dillan and Rhy were cute and very much in love from the moment they found each other. They found their mate!
I thought Dillan was super cute when he half shifted!
Not too bad of a story.
The rest of the pack will be interesting to read if the lead up in this story is anything to go by
Dillan and Rhys story was fun and they were soenjoyable to read.
In this book we have the drama, the sweetness and the humor that makes this story so amazing. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
This was an ARC book I volunteered to read.
This is the 1st book of a new series, Unexpected Mates, and boy does it start with a bang. It’s funny, sweet, charming, and sexy. Dillan and Rhys are hot, fun, loving..simply fantastic together.
Dillan is a housecat who gets lost and tries to find his way back home to his sweet owner. He begins an adventure full of discoveries and making new friends. His new friend Kash teaches him that he’s actually a shifter, not a simple housecat like he always believed. He has so much to learn in his human form (if he could ever get it right, lol). Rhy is hired by the owner to find her Mr. Fluffykins (aka Dillan) and bring him back home. When he finds Dillan, his whole world changes when he realizes Dillan is the true mate he has been waiting for all his life.
Dillan is adorable, especially when he discovers coffee. Like a 5 year old with a bag full of candy, lol.
Now I just hope Ms. Alepoú doesn’t make us wait too long for the next book. This series is my new addiction.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
