My reign has begun. War looms in the distance. And danger prowls my court. The crown rests light on my brow but weighs heavy on my heart. To marry a foreign king would break my heart, but to choose the four men I love means starting a war. The battlefield is not my only fear. Danger stalks the halls of the castle and a darkness grows within me. Only with the steady guidance and firm hand of … the steady guidance and firm hand of Septimus will my body and soul be tamed.
The only way I’ll survive to fight any war is by trusting Gwayne, Trystan, Caliban, and Septimus. But traitors hide behind familiar faces and caring smiles. I may survive . . . but will my heart?

Love every book in this series and I highly recommend every book from this author!
This book shows us Maeve on the throne and the decisions she needs to make. Who to trust. She loves her guys. Tension rises between Mave and Septimus. Did not see the outcome happening but it was like 50 shades but better. Very nice read and the story and mystery is amazing.

even though you have not read the other parts …… not such a big problem …… the introduction to this part gives a clear picture of what happened before. And again the writer makes sure that you are on the edge of your seat with the speed at which the story continues. An attempt to kill Maeve causes her to work more with Septimus, leading to steamy sex scenes where surrender is central. Captivatingly described, tension continues to be increased and the cliffhanger at the end makes you REALLY want to read the sequel ….. Great series!

King Author has Merlin and his Knights. Robin Hood has his merry men. Stone and Ash points to an important detail that surrounds a kingdom in danger. A kingdom is not rescued by one person but a team working together as one

Perfect continuation to this series. What a story line with new challenges, twists, and turns. Loving how each book is taken from Meave and different protectors point of view. Her growth in each book keeps you wondering what she’ll learn to overcome next. Looking forward to reading more of this world.

The scenes are so colorfully detailed and descriptive it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Marie, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

So we continue with Maeve’s journey. In the second book she defeated her brother and Elinor aka as “Queen Adete”. Also in book two you learn of the betrothal to King Balo. This as you know does not sit well with Maeve or the guys. So now lets get into book three now.
So Maeve has so many decisions to make now that she is Queen of Caledonia. She knows that she is going to bring magic back to Caledonia and she is trying to not meet with resistance from her people. However, while she is navigating the politics she is also weary about the people around her. There are people out to get her and she needs to always be on her toes. She brings the Fae to her courts and announces that she is letting them back in which is a great move for her Kingdom. Obviously, we know that she has feelings for all her guys Trystan, Gwayne, Septimus and Caliban. In this book Septimus and Maeve finally break that tension and it gets hot. Whoa Whoa Whoa did not see him as a dominant person but it was definitely hot. That ending just about killed me. Why would you do that Marie Robinson. That was so cruel!!!
So does Maeve marry King Balo or choose another? What will push Maeve over the edge? Will she be going to war soon? So many questions were answered. The biggest questions are What will she do now? Will she let the darkness consume her?
I loved this book and highly recommend that you read this series.

They get better and better. The character devlopment is amazing and the action, just such fun. I really want to explain, but you just need to read it!! Every much enjoying it… off to the final story!! Ekk!!
No Mid-Series Slump!
I am so enjoying this series. I appreciate that the author has written four books in which each book focusing not only the heroine and the story but on one of her dragon-shifter protectors as well. For instance, the first book is told from Maeve’s and Tristan’s perspectives, the second book is told from Maeve’s and Caliban’s perspectives, and this book is told from Maeve and Septimus’ perspectives. This allows us to see Maeve’s growth arc over all of the books and gives the spotlight to one of the men in each book. All this just adds to the richness of the storyline, the characters, and the world that the author has created. I thought this book started a little slow, as it seemed to be mostly just Maeve and the boys back at the castle adjusting to their new roles and having some amorous encounters for about the first 20% of the book. But after that, things heated up. Much happened after this point. There were definitely some twists and turns, and what a cliffhanger to leave us with! This book definitely dealt with themes of trust and betrayal on several levels. As always, I enjoy this author’s writing style; it pulled me right into the book and the fantastical lives of the characters. I regret that I have just one book to go in this series, but I am looking forward to seeing the resolution of the cliffhanger as well as how or if the marriage will affect the relationships between Maeve and the men. I highly recommend this series, though I do suggest you start with the first book.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
“Stone and Ash” is the best installment so far. The storyline is maturing and giving us more intensity in the action, suspense, and intrigue when new enemies are brought into the mix. This book is definitely more steamy than the previous books as Maeve deepens her bonds with two of her harem. Definitely a welcome addition to the series. It does not disappoint!
