4 Star review of So Steady (Silver Daughters Ink #2) by Eve Dangerfield
Nicole DaSilva and Noah Newcomb shouldn’t work but they do. From the first chapter I was invested with the story that Eve Dangerfield wove.
I really liked Nicole, she has no filter and there were times that her actions had me laughing so much. Both believed that they would never find love, destined to be alone and that really tugged at my heartstrings.
My heart was torn at times as neither really believed in themselves. This is an emotional story that had me both laughing and crying.
I loved how Noah was determined to support Nicole in any way he could. The chemistry between Noah and Nicole was intense and you could feel the heat as you read So Steady.
The secondary characters were entertaining and I enjoyed the story as Nicole and Noah evolved although there were times that I was frustrated, particularly with Nicole.
HOLY SMOKES!
When [author:Eve Dangerfield|14427168] reached out to me asking if I would like a complimentary copy of her new novel, I was flattered. *THANK YOU* A good book friend of mine was raving about her work so I knew I had to read it. Also, would you please take a look at the steamy, electric cover? Gorgeous! I accepted it graciously, but then that little seed of doubt had planted itself in my subconscious.
This is a new to me author. This is the second book in a standalone series. (I RARELY read books out of order.) What if I don’t like it? What if it truly isn’t a standalone? What if I have to give it a bad review? How can I do this to such a sweet author?
I decided to tell my brain to shut up and jumped into this story. And I am so glad that I did! Nicole and Noah had some major chemistry. People had to been comparing them to Beauty and the Beast but I just really see them as the good girl and the bad boy. (However, we quickly learn that Nicole isn’t all that good )
Nicole is the perfect one out of the DaSilva bunch. But when her engagement gets called off, she heads back home to escape reality. But coming home isn’t much better. Her dad has ran off and someone has been stealing money from the tattoo shop. Nicole is determined to get her life together and solve the money mystery, but something, or someone, keeps getting in her way.
Noah is a tattooed recluse. He completes his shift at the tattoo parlor and goes about his business. However, Nicole’s return keeps getting under his skin. He’s attracted to her. He knows that she isn’t a one time thing. But Noah also has secrets that can ruin everything if he lets Nicole in.
But he does let her in and its –
I really wanted to give this 5 stars but I felt behind and confused in certain scenes. I also felt like I missed out on Nicole and Noah’s first meeting. I do agree that this can be read as a standalone, but it would have been better if I had started with the first book.
4 Stars!
Blog
Having loved the previous De Silver sisters book I was eager to get into Nicole’s story and I wasn’t disappointed. The feel of this family is so rea, I love their quirky, give no s#!t, personalities. The plot is fabulous and kept me turning the pages to see how it would turn out. There’s a bit of suspense and a whole lot of filthy chemistry.
Nicole is so…straight, compared to her sisters and father. She’s uptight and law-abiding and doesn’t seem to fit into the tattoo, hippy life of the rest of the characters but there is a reason for this. She is such a great character and has my devotion.
Speaking of devotion… Noah…sigh. What a big lump of sexy, silent, brooding, loveliness. I have stars in my eyes for this mean-looking softie. He is totally opposite to Nicole but so right for her.
The passion and doubt scream through the pages in this book.
I am really looking forward to Tabby’s book. I hope it’s soon because I think I know who that crazy, outspoken girl will end up with; fingers crossed!
4 stars!!
This is book two in the “Silver Daughters Ink” series. It is a stand alone. BUT I did not read the first book and I feel like I am missing so much.
This is Nicole and Noah’s story. And it is one I adore. I think the beginning of this book got confusing because you were thrown into all these characters and without reading book one you have no clue what is going on and it’s a bit rushed. But once you get passed all that it is easy flowing from there. I ended up falling in love with the sisters and definitely Noah!!
Noah is a sexy beast with a past. He is quiet, alpha, creative, beautiful, and so caring. He is everything a woman could want. His past does not define him but in this book it works against him.
Nicole is an intelligent beautiful woman who has a past as well. She tends to overthink (like many of us do) and gets in her head a lot. Noah was the yin to her yang. So she drops this bombshell to understand why she is the way she is and well it felt a little like a let down. Maybe that’s a big deal for some and I’m sure if it happened to me I would freak the hell out. But I was expecting something a little more climactic.
I am so in love with all the characters. I am excited about this series!! Though I don’t understand some of the lingo the book was as easy, fun read.
** I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.**
Wow this was a new author to me and I freakin loved it!!
I loved the character of Nicole. I felt like I could really relate to her. She is the good girl of the family. The one that is responsible and looks out for the others. Her father and sisters are both a little on a extreme side and because of this, they look upon her as a little boring. Don’t get me wrong, there is definitely sisterly love but that she is “plain” compared to them. I loved that she stood up to her fiance about needing to come back and help out the family business. To me, this is the strength of her character. She is willing to put everything aside to help family.
Noah is an outcast, a sexy one at that. He is a tattoo artist who has been interested in Nicole since he first sees her but doesn’t think he is good enough. Noah was a wonderfully complicated man where through out the whole book he was so sure that people weren’t seeing the real Nicole but yet he was the one that being seen. He grew up hard but has become an amazing man despite all of it and deserve all the happiness he can have.
I loved reading about Noah and Nicole’s times together. He seemed to know exactly what she needed and when. While I love love love great dirty talk, these two took it a step further but each to their own. There sexy times were hot.
I will definitely be looking for more books from this author.
A man with a past, a woman looking towards the future. Where do they meet in the middle?
First I’d like to give a big A+ to Eve Dangerfield to keeping a lot the Australian slang in the story. I feel today so many authors or perhaps their editors remove cultural references and/or slang to Americanize books, when it’s very enjoyable to “hear” the accents in my head as I’m reading along and remember where these characters are living.
This is the second book in the Silver Daughters Ink series and while I didn’t read the first one, I had no trouble jumping in and following along. So Steady reads as a complete standalone.
Nicole DaSilva has returned home to figure out why her family’s tattoo shop has been losing money and on top of that her father up and left with no word on where he has disappeared to. To add insult to injury her fiance gives her an ultimatum that she has to choose between her family or himself. He doesn’t like her family and it certainly doesn’t help that he’s been tearing down her self-esteem and to add a cherry on top he’s a cheating pig. Yes, her fiance is wonderful, but we don’t miss him too bad when she does decide to end things.
Noah Newcomb has worked at the tattoo shop for the few few years. He’s a tough looking man, but all the DeSilva’s seem to like him, Nicole is just jumpy around him for soooo many reasons. Noah isn’t bothered by this fact, he actually dreams of messing up the perfect exterior she presents everyday. Nicole is the opposite of her two sisters, where she is reserved and polished, they are loud and obnoxious. Noah doesn’t quite understand his attraction, but when he’s around Nicole she makes him burn. The last thing he needs is trouble, he’s been able to stay away from it for several years now and Nicole deserves someone better than him.
When they both give into their temptations, oh holy hotness….Nicole and Noah burn up the sheets!
I honestly can’t say I understood forceful play before, but Eve had a part that actually described it quite eloquently and I have a say a lightbulb went off in my head and suddenly this world of dark play made a lot more sense. So thank you Eve, I appreciate the enlightenment.
Let me share just a little bit of that lightbulb moment…
Nicole is a buttoned up prim and proper girl, but she enjoys the thought of Noah dirtying her up. She wants him calling her names and pushing her out of her comfort zone, all while in the bedroom. She does wonder if this is right and if she’s wrong for wanting him the way that she does. I love that Noah explains that there is no right or wrong way for two people to enjoy one another, which is very true. There should be no shame which is what more women should discover about themselves.
What is another AHA moment for me, is when Nicole is asking Noah to push her and not so much that he cares, but he does ask why and she compares it to exercise. I know seems crazy right? But it seriously made sense to me. She says that when you’re exercising and you want to give up, but your trainer yells at you to do five more pushups, you both hate and appreciate them in that moment, she wanted that from Noah. She wanted him to push her out of her comfort zone because she’d never do it on her own, but she needed it and craved it. Completely made sense and I have a new appreciation for dark romance.
So Steady is extra panty melting…along with lots of emotions so be prepared for a heart breaking story as well
I loved Nikki and Noah’s story!
So Steady was very well written and the characters felt true and real. As a reader I was able to understand the characters and feel their emotions. That takes a special kind of writer to make me take on the emotions of her characters.
It is my first book by Eve Dangerfield and I will definitely be reading more from her!
So Steady, Silver Daughters Ink book 2 is the first book I have read written by Eve Dangerfield. I must say it gives quite a punch. Reads well as a stand-alone. More of an opposites attraction story though really Noah fits right in with Nicole’s father and sisters. It is Nicole that doesn’t seem to fit on the surface. I must say I loved the description of her as rose gold. What a lovely thing for a man to say. Then the reasons Noah thinks this is much deeper than I originally would have thought possible for him. Still he is observant, kind in a way and not nearly as high maintenance as Nicole’s former fiancé.
Gritty, steamy romance where the good girl finds out the bad boy is much better than the sneaky fake boy. I liked Noah and Nicole together. He has such a sad self-image that he needs Nicole as much as she needs him. Thinking about this story, Noah is a difficult man to define a misfit or an anti-hero or an un-hero. I cant’s really say but what I can say is that he is an unforgettable, tortured soul. Beside the steam coming from the romance there is sister drama and intrigue.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher or the author which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wonderful characters, in an engaging, emotional story
Book 2 in the Silver Daughters Ink series, this is my first book by this author. If I hadn’t already known, I would have guessed this was part of a series due to Nicole’s twin sister Sam and boyfriend Scott already being a couple, and while I mostly didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything by starting the series here, there is some mystery surrounding the sisters’ father that is carrying through the series. So while you don’t need to have read the previous book to enjoy this, I think having that background would enhance your experience. Note for US readers: this is set in Melbourne, and, not unexpectedly, there is a bit of Aussie slang, but please don’t let it put you off. I (a Midwest US native) either knew it already or could guess from context, though I did look up a few things—more out of curiosity and sheer nerdiness than anything else—and the language served to nicely reinforce the location for me.
While I wouldn’t quite call this an enemies-to-lovers story (more of an opposites attract really), there’s a lot of push and pull between Nicole and Noah that has that same kind of energy. And it turned out the tattooed artist and the good girl accountant have more in common than you might think, as they both have secrets and vulnerabilities from their pasts. I loved the journey these two took, the way they worked as a couple in spite of themselves, and how they both grew over the course of the story—and let’s not forget all that heat, whew!
The author did a wonderful job with these characters; they’re complex and well developed, and both of them were easily relatable for me. With a bit of the good girl syndrome myself, I felt for Nicole as she’s torn between her family and her fiancé, though I admit to cheering a bit too, when she broke up with the later as she clearly deserved far better than that self-centered, a-hole. As for Noah, my heart broke for him as we learned his story; omg, at one point when his past comes back, not just to haunt, but to try and break him, I was literally in tears for him and had to set my e-reader down for a few minutes to get tissues so I could breathe.
As for secondary characters, besides Nicole’s sisters Sam and Tabby, I loved Sam’s boyfriend, Scott in this; a minor role but I think Scott alone would have been enough to convince me to read the first book in the series. The sibling interactions themselves were gold (“There was a short silence, in which Nicole hoped both her sisters had died.” ), but they’re also supportive of each when the chips are down. There were some love to hate characters here in addition to Nicole’s ex; not to give spoilers, but that section that made me cry for Noah? Yeah, that section made my usually non-violent self think some VERY stabby thoughts.
With wonderfully drawn characters I was deeply invested in, plus an engaging, emotional story full of both humor and steam, I’m adding this author to my “read more from, stat!” list. 5+ stars
This is the second book in the series but can definitely be read as a standalone I did and had no issues whatsoever.
Nicole Dasilva is the straight-laced business-minded sister of the family who is back home trying to get the family’s tattoo shop back in the black.
Due to her refusal to move back home and put him first her idiot, cardboard-cutout fiancee cuts her loose leaving her newly single again.
Nicole is the complete opposite to her two extraverted and tattooed sisters Sam and Tabby.
She lacks confidence and doesn’t really believe in her own self-worth this is doubly compounded by her cheating Ex who she has allowed to treat her like dirt.
Enter Noah Newcomb who is nothing like the men she usually dates hes a big burly tattooed artist who works at the family business.
His dad was also the president of a notorious biker gang.
Hes tough, huge and Nicole finds him super scary but in an altogether toe-tingling good way.
At the exact same time, she is also insanely attracted to him.
These two despite being poles apart are fascinated with each other despite Noah actively trying to resist the heavy-pull.
So this was seriously hot, like man I need a cold shower and some personal one on one time with BOB kind of hot.
This book will leave you totally squirming but in a major good way if you get my drift.
I adored the filthy antics these two got up to together and loved the razor edge of the wordplay that these two got off on it was so seriously sexy.
This is a story that takes two people you would never place together and then shows you just how perfect going off-script can be.
They both have hangups and are flawed in some way but together these issues are muted.
I liked both Noah and Nicole: Noah had that smidge of an edge for me.
I took a tad longer to warm-up to Nicole.
I also liked the whole Tatoo parlour setting.
I liked the overall simplicity of the storyline and felt that the writing here was top-notch.
This really was a great contemporary romance that I thoroughly enjoyed.
This one gets a definite thumbs up from my camp.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of So Steady (Silver Daughters Ink, #2).

So Steady is book 2 in the Silver Daughters Ink and it’s the first book I have read from this author but most definitely not the last. I really enjoyed this book, it was cute, funny and super sexy. Noah and Nicole were awesome together, their chemistry was off the charts. Noah was a fantastic H, he is so caring and thoughtful with a side of dirty. It took me a little longer to warm up to Nicole because of her insecurities. The sisters Sam and Tabby were enjoyable although OTT at times that became a bit much for me but I still enjoyed them and look forward to reading their books. Even though this is book 2 it reads fine as a standalone.

3.5 to 4 Stars!
First, I’m in love with Noah! I have a thing for the big, broody men and that is Noah and then some. He’s got a past and he’s all tatted up which only enhanced my love for him. The fact that his look makes people wary was also appealing to me. Now, I like a scary dude as long as he isn’t truly mean. He treated Nicole very well and that was just icing on the cake for me.
As for Nicole, I had a really hard time with her. I just really struggle with a heroine who doesn’t have self respect and a few times she begged. That just makes me cringe. I see why the author created her character that way. It was a good way for Noah to lift her up. Despite knowing this, I still struggle with it. What can I say? I like what I like.
While this is a standalone, I do wish I had read the first book before this one. Only because I have no clue what is going on with the girls dad. He’s missing and I don’t know why or what happened. I also felt that at times the characters were speaking another language. I’m not sure if the author was starting new slang of if I’m just behind the times. It’s probably me.
The three sisters characters are very colorful and I liked that. I’m into the quirky characters and Tabby’s book really intrigues me. She could be a bit much at times but overall, she made me laugh. This was a good first book to read by this author. I will definitely be checking out more.
Noah and Nicole had me captivated from word one! They made me cringe with Nicole’s awkwardness and Noah’s uncertainty. They made me giggle when Nicole blurted out her thoughts and Noah couldn’t hold back his adoration of her cuteness. They made me tear up at their thoughts they were alone, and would always be alone, because nobody saw them for who they were, only what was on the surface. They made me cry when they gave up to accept their fate, and cheer when they wanted to turn things around. Nicole had me laughing out loud and crying in pain, simultaneously, when she figured it all out, and let those who loved her in on her struggles. Noah made my heart grow three sizes when he realized he had it all wrong, and that didn’t matter at all, because he needed, wanted, and had to be there for Nicole
Noah and Nicole brought it all, and then some more. Wowza, the heat between these two, the sexiness and wildness these two get up into, and on with, to say it is hot, scorching, and burns off the pages, well, that says it and then some. Add in the quirky side characters, and the side sizzling happening over there to the left *hint hint*, and the beauty in seeing Sam and Scott together, and it is a love, near-love, crazy-attraction, wacky-sibling, smorgasbord of awesomeness!
I was immersed in the story, loved the characters and their struggles, it was an easy read, it flowed beautifully, and I lost track of time while reading it, and couldn’t set it down until I was done. I loved it
ღ We back with Noah & Nicole story ….. Yay
what man to do when his too uptight, too reliable accountant/cleaning freak boss sister, who is now has her sights on you?
Don’t get me wrong Noah wants Nicole, she is sexy as hell to him even if her Ex made her think otherwise, but Noah is running from his past & doesn’t want draw attention to himself. Besides Noah not sure Nicole can handle his wild side
I just love when opposites attract stories come together! At times they can be somewhat of long journey, & at other times they can be funny as heck to read. These type book can also have some very steamy scenes! If all these things appeal to you, you are in the right spot
—————Happy Reading————
As so far Nicole & Noah are my favorite Dangerfield couple yet. But I cant wait read Tabby’s book- the wild & free of the bunch!
I feel the need tell you just teensy tiny more about this couple,What I just love & enjoyed about this book & what you might find in it
You’ll find yourself slowly falling in love with this big hulking silent giant, brooding, & tatted artist even if you try not to!
You’ll find yourself slowly finding out why Nicole is the way she is!
And how these two seem to both slowly let down their guards, learn to trust & confide in each other, & most importantly how at times it seem like no one else seem to understand them. This all possible due to the unique writing skills of Eve Dangerfield
This turning out to be very fun & sexy read
You may read this as a standalone book, but if you wanna get the full effect of the Silver sisters, I’d suggest you read them in order
Silver Daughters Ink Reading order
1. So Wild- Scott & Samantha
2. So Steady- Noah & Nicole
3.
Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion & my honest review Also I wouldn’t discourage anyone from reading this book!
Paulette Review
4 stars. This was a good book! So Steady is book two in the Silver Daughters Ink series. This book is Nicole and Noah’s story. Nicole is the twin sister of the heroine from book one and a seemingly straight laced accountant. She is back in town to help her sisters save their father’s tattoo parlor after he goes missing, leaving behind her cheating fiance. Noah is a tattoo artist that works in the parlor who is hiding a secret past. He is Nicole’s opposite, a bad boy who doesn’t trust anyone or make connections with people easily. The two have an undeniable, combustible chemistry, though, and find that opposites attract.
I really liked Nicole and Noah. Back with her sisters, away from her fiance, Nicole begins to discover who she really is. The two of them were deep, complicated characters with lots of layers. They had such great chemistry and connection. I enjoyed both of them coming into their own and opening up to begin truly living. I really enjoyed the story. It was sexy, funny and emotional. I am loving this series and the way the ongoing series story arc is heading. I would have liked a little bit more resolution and more time spent seeing Nicole and Noah in a real relationship. But, still, this was a good read.
Overall, this was an enjoyable and entertaining book! I love the DeSilva sisters and I am really looking forward to book three in the series!
They speak my language…
***4.5 Stars***
I read a lot of books from different walks of life and appreciate the variety in seeing how others live but I absolutely loved the opportunity to read a book set in my own backyard. Well, not exactly my backyard but pretty much my next-door neighbours’ backyard. Melbourne is just a hop, skip and jump away from Brissy…if you call an 18+ hour drive not too far.
I loved stepping back into Eve Dangerfield’s world and catching up with the Silver Daughters Ink characters. These characters speak a language I understand and their lingo and jargon are familiar and comfortable. So Steady left me completely satisfied and desperate for more.
I wasn’t sure how I would deal with a storyline where the heroine puts up with a disrespectful, cheating fiance, just to keep her image intact. It’s not the kind of behaviour or a person I can relate to and respect. As the story progresses and we learn more about Nicole, it all starts to make sense and her growth makes it easier to see why she HAD put up with the douchewaffle.
Poor Noah!! I loved this character…mostly. There were a few times where I wanted to reach into the book and shake my finger in his face. Consciously making bad decisions that would affect his happiness made me see red. This poor bloke is paying for the sins of his father and feels a burden from leaving the motorcycle club that WAS his “family”. His past was ugly and the people who were supposedly his family, do not show him the respect he deserves. I hated that his past still affects his future.
This story is a journey showing two people striving for their own versions of happiness. I loved their attraction, connection and understanding of each other. So Steady was sexy, funny and really entertaining. I loved catching up with the sisters and getting an update on their lives.
Eve Dangerfield again leaves me on a big high and I will definitely wait with bated breath for more Silver Daughters Ink in the future.
Stacey is Sassy, received an advanced copy of this story. The copy provided is not the final copy and may be subject to edits and changes.
One of the things I love about Eve Dangerfield’s writing is how Australian-sounding it is. I feel like these characters are people I could be passing on the street daily and I welcome it.
SO STEADY is the second book in Silver Daughters Ink series. Nicole DaSilva may have a twin sister but she feels like the odd one out; her twin, Sam, and younger sister, Tabby, seem much more similar to her. Nicole has spent years working towards a “normal” and stable future. She’s got a stable job as an accountant, she’s got the suburban home, a strict skin care regime to keep aging at bay, and a fiancé to help her live the dream of conventionality. It all falls apart when said fiancé issues an ultimatum Nicole won’t fulfil, so she ends up back in Melbourne a little lost, a lot hurt and with a most inconvenient attraction to the “hulking beast” Noah Newcomb.
Noah works as a tattoo artist at Silver Daughters Ink, and while he also is attracted to Nicole, he is staying far away. They are like chalk and cheese and he is not interested in the traditional future Nicole wants.
As Nicole investigates monetary theft at the tattoo studio, she and Noah find themselves in each other’s orbit. The magnetism is strong, the attraction palpable and the desire is off the charts. Nicole and Noah often find themselves in comfortable conversation; able to say and reveal things to each other they keep secret from others.
There is plenty of humour infused within the story. The arguments and physical fights between the sisters are legendary, the observations about people made me laugh out loud and I even had a chuckle at how the Noah still managed to keep his masculinity while describing colours such as periwinkle, fuchsia and sorbet yellow.
So Steady was a really entertaining read and I highly recommend it. I am now eagerly awaiting Tabby’s story.
