Loved it! See review on Amazon.
‘A Flair for Flip-Flops’ is the first book that I have read by Deborah Garner, and it was a real enjoyable read that made me long for a vacation!
The book centre’s around Sadie Kramer, a middle aged tourist, who finds herself amongst a murder mystery when holidaying in Casa Playa, a resort in Southern California.
She has a penchant for travelling with her sidekick Coco her terrier, and enjoys the life of raiding fashion boutiques, whilst enjoying the peaceful life away from her business back home. But what Sadie also enjoys, is people watching and letting her investigative streak run wild, and when a body washes up on the beach and is rumoured to be a world famous actor, Sadie is in her element!
I loved the quirky charm of Sadie, for she is loveable, -nosey in a fun way- and has the ability of building a rapport with all the weird and wonderful characters on the resort. She is has a knack of finding clues as she goes about her day to day business, and finds herself becoming more embroiled with the murder mystery surrounding the disappearance of ‘GQ’.
I love how she has a love hate relationship with the detectives on the case, you can tell they assume she is a busybody body when at times she guides their investigation. She appears harmless, but is very alert, observant and clues in.
This book was great at capturing my attention, keeping my interest and I loved the plot twists. It was very clever and a fun read despite it being a murder mystery.
Great read with an addictive plot that made me want to know more. I will certainly be exploring more of this series! Ideal for mystery lovers and people who like lighthearted reads.
Sadie Kramer is back and enjoying a nice little vacation on the Southern California coast with sun, shopping and….. murder! No matter where Sadie seems to go murder is a key part of her going’s on, and why should vacation be any different! When she check in to her hotel she is also given an invitation to a gala dinner featuring the famous and well-loved Garrison Quinlan, only he doesn’t show up for the dinner instead he washes up on the beach!
Not one to shy away from an investigation Sadie and her adorable like Yorkie Coco sniff out some clues, with the help of a new friend Sadie made at the dinner – who is more like Sadie than you can imagine.
This was a great cozy mystery and a perfect read to hold on to the last remnants of summer, although it is part of a series each book can be easily read as a stand alone. You will fall in love with the flamboyant Sadie and her lovable Yorkie Coco as well as love the mystery in each book.
Very enjoyable.
Sadie and her trusty side-kick Coco had checked in at Casa Playa, a luxurious boutique hotel, for a seaside vacation. Unknowingly, Sadie had timed it the week they were hosting private celebrity events and was mistakenly invited to such. The main event centered on famous, well-loved Garrison Quinlan, who is a no-show. Sadie later finds out that a body that washed up by the hotel was identified as Quinlan. Being the sleuth that she is, Sadie smells foul play in the death, and won’t give up until she solves the case.
I would love to be Sadie’s companion on the interesting trips she makes. There’s always something afoul, not to mention the shopping, foods, and spa days. And sweet, little Coco constantly seems to get herself into trouble without even trying. I always like reading of the adventures of this duo.
Sadie Kramer is on vacation looking forward to some rest and relaxation. Of course she has her tiny Yorkie with her. He goes everywhere in her tote bag–and has a mini palace set up in the hotel room. Sadie coordinates clothing so it is uncertain who has the most outfits! And what outfits some of hers are. Somehow or another she was handed special tickets to a celeb dinner and tote with dog in hand goes. She ends up sitting at a table way in the back and at that table she meets a women just like her!!
Well since Sadie is a magnet for murders to happen in her vicinity–and she is totally incapable of not trying to help solve them–and her new friend is every bit as bad—–Between shopping for more outrageous outfits on the boardwalk and piecing together the murder of the celeb who never showed up at the dinner—well I found myself laughing at the antics of these two women. The Yorkie also was quite a character in his own right!!
The ending will definitely catch you off guard as these two figure it all out before the police—–who, it turns out, were warned about her by her boyfriend(?) back home!!
I just love Sadie Kramer’s mysteries books! They remind me Agatha Christie’s books and Sadie is such a great character with her adorable Yorkie Coco!
This story brings it all: mystery, Hollywood scandal and great characters that will not make you stop reading.
Since it is a mystery book I will not spoil it because it is unfair to the new readers and the fun of this book is to hook on for the ride and enjoy the story. But, I can tell you that Deborah Garner is a wonderful, fun author who can deliver a story that you will want to read to the end and the characters are witty, entertaining and a lot of fun.
I loved it and you will too!
