NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The fifth book in Diana Gabaldon’s acclaimed Outlander saga, the basis for the Starz original series. Don’t miss the new Outlander novel, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, available November 23! “A grand adventure written on a canvas that probes the heart, weighs the soul and measures the human spirit across [centuries].”—CNN The year is 1771, and war is coming. Jamie …
The year is 1771, and war is coming. Jamie Fraser’s wife tells him so. Little as he wishes to, he must believe it, for hers is a gift of dreadful prophecy—a time-traveler’s certain knowledge.
Born in the year of Our Lord 1918, Claire Randall served England as a nurse on the battlefields of World War II, and in the aftermath of peace found fresh conflicts when she walked through a cleftstone on the Scottish Highlands and found herself an outlander, an English lady in a place where no lady should be, in a time—1743—when the only English in Scotland were the officers and men of King George’s army.
Now wife, mother, and surgeon, Claire is still an outlander, out of place, and out of time, but now, by choice, linked by love to her only anchor—Jamie Fraser. Her unique view of the future has brought him both danger and deliverance in the past; her knowledge of the oncoming revolution is a flickering torch that may light his way through the perilous years ahead—or ignite a conflagration that will leave their lives in ashes.

Again, must read Outlander! This carries on the story.
This whole series is really wonderful and Diana Gabaldon is an amazing writer. It is mostly what I would consider women’s fiction but my husband picked up the book to read when Outlander the series took 2nd place in the PBS series about the 100 best books to read . He was amazed and interested in what an expert author and storyteller she has become. She writes a story that immerses you into it .
ALL Diana Gabaldon books are fantastic
I love all the books in his series. I wish a new one would be written.
One of the books in the “Outlander” series, this book was fun to read.
There is not one bad book in the entire Outlander series. Diana Gabaldon weaves the most unforgettable characters into historical backdrops and never disappoints.
I read the whole Outlander series a while ago & still remember how great they were! I could not put them down. Diana is an awesome writer.
Anything and everything that Diana Gabaldon writes is magical and mystical and hypnotizing. It is a very thick book, but you will find it hard to put down. The characters of Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall Fraser and their families and friends will keep you spell-bound and make you want to read all 8 books in the Outlander series!! You should definitely do it!!!
Book 5 of the Outlander series. I found this one to be the slowest paced of all the books and a little harder to get through the first time. But well worth the effort in the end. Note I said ‘the first time’. It didn’t stop me from reading it again, and I will read it again a third time soon.
Another book in the series of Outlander – just love these books. This one has a little less plot movement than some others, but wonderful nevertheless with wonderful characters. I can hardly put it down at night to go to bed!
Another Chapter in the Lives of Claire and Jamie Fraser!
No one writes like she does. Well researched; a wordsmith.
