Winds of Fear by Glede Browne Kabongo is an amazing and gripping story. Although this book is part of a series it can be read as a standalone – it is the first book I have read by this author and I didn’t at any point feel like I was missing something from having not read the previous ones.
This book was an absolute thrilling ride. The description alone caught my interest and from the moment I started reading the book I was hooked. At times it honestly felt like the pages turned themselves I was reading it that fast. I just had to know what was going on!
Having never read anything by this author before I didn’t know what to expect. What I found was a well developed and intriguing psychological story that I couldn’t put down. With fantastic characters there was nothing about this book I didn’t like. I cannot wait to read more by this author – starting with the rest of this series.
Winds of Fear: A gripping psychological thriller (Fearless Series) by Gledé Browne Kabongo and as the title states it is certainly a thrilling read. I have not read anything by this author before and I must say I am impressed with her work. This story is enthralling and intriguing. It is full of suspense and definitely leaves you with goose bumps, your heart pounding and sitting on the edge of your seat.
When the new neighbours visit, one thing Abbie Rambally is certain of is that something is not as it should be, call it mother’s intuition Their interest in her eldest son is not normal. When things don’t add up and their sitters go missing and their son is kidnapped all the pieces start to fall in place. Will they ever find them in time to get their son back?
This thrilling journey is a must read and I look forward to going back to the beginning, but I also look forward to more from Glede.
I love a good gripping and suspenseful thriller novel, so when I saw Winds of Fear and the thriller experience is screamed with the cover I knew I had to find out what the book was all about for myself. I have never read Glede Browne Kabongo before Winds of Fear, so naturally I was unaware until I started this book that it was actually book three in a series, The Fearless Series. I did not struggle reading this book or have issues with it as a stand alone read but, having read this one and enjoying it as much as I did, I am anxious to discover what those other two books hold as well. I am definitely going to check out all that Ms. Kabongo has penned as well.
This book was a crazy thrilling and mysterious read. I loved how I was constantly on the edge of my seat and waiting for that next spin in the plot. This book kept me guessing longer than most thrillers and had a few surprise twists that I never saw coming. That’s something I love in a good thriller as I tend to get them figured out fairly early on and it ruins the suspense build up for myself. This was so not the case with Winds of Fear.
Abbie Rambally is the main character, and we follow her as she is juggling her life precariously. She is busy raising youngins while also working hard to get her PhD. Everything seems to be mischief managed until a new set of neighbors move in and in turn turns Abbie’s world upside down. She is forced to listen to that inner mom voice and fight to keep her family safe. Things get crazier when the families nanny shows up dead and the neighbor has a hankering for her oldest child. As you can imagine just from these tidbits this book builds the suspense and takes you on a thrilling ride. As for more details you will have to devour this gem for yourself to get them. I can’t wait to see what will come next and read the other books which I am off to do right now… one-click syndrome lol.
5 Stars
Winds of Fear is the third thrilling instalment in the Fearless series by Gledè Browne Kabongo. This is my first read by Ms. Browne Kabongo, and so I was excited to see what she could do. The blurb certainly promised a thrilling and suspenseful read- so I was sold- happily one-clicking a copy for myself and diving in- and I am happy to say it was every bit as good as I hoped it would be.
Even though this is the third book in the series it can be read as a standalone, which is exactly what I did. Anyway, this story has made me want to explore the other two books to see what they hold. It looks like they may be about Abbie, our main character in this book- so I am intrigued by the ‘backstory’ that may be contained there.
This book is an intriguing, suspenseful, chilling, and ‘edge of your seat’ thriller. It grabbed me from the get-go and had me avidly reading to discover just how everything would play out.
We follow Abbie Rambally who is working on getting her PhD. With her husband and three young children, they have a busy, but loving household. When new neighbours move in, strange things begin happening and Abbie’s motherly instincts are triggered when the neighbour shows a little too much interest in her oldest child. Things take on a more sinister edge when their nanny quits out of the blue, and later found murdered. What is going on? With danger close at hand and suspicions all round- you’ll need to hang on for this thrilling ride.
I am definitely looking forward to exploring the rest of this series, and anything else Ms. Browne Kabongo has/or does release.
Thank you, Ms. Browne Kabongo!
This page turner left me riveted from start to finish. This author is new to me but I will absolutely read more as soon as I can get it in my hands. I was glued to each page and held breathless. Just absolutely spellbinding!
I read the first book in this series, Game of Fear, because it was free on kindle. I loved it so much that I bought the second one immediately after (ok, I read the entire book in one day, so I bought the second book, Autumn of Fear, on the same day I finished the first). I couldn’t wait to read the third book, Winds of Fear and anxiously awaited it…it was SOOOOOO worth the wait. **SPOILERS AHEAD**
Abigail Cooper is an incredible character, both strong and vulnerable at the same time. After everything she’s been through (which started in The Swan Deception, which is a good starting point to this series, although it’s not technically part of it), it’s amazing she’s not on heavy psych meds. Christian is deeper than imagined and it was wonderful to watch him grow through this series. Ty was as he always was, Cooper’s rock. Cooper’s family was there for her and very grounded which was nice to see.
While I knew from the first who the bad guys were, it only added to the storyline. If I could give this series 10 stars I would. Please please please hurry and release the final chapter in this series, I can’t wait to see where the author takes it next.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. It was so good I would have gladly paid for it.
This is one of the finest books that I have read this year. Read the blurb on Amazon, that tells you enough of the story to get pulled in. The book is so well written and the exposition is so well laid out, that little effort has to be spent in following the story of Abbie and the Paynes. There are plenty of twists and turns that can keep you guessing (I was surprised by some of the familial relationships that emerged, and, oh, the nannies!).
I could not put this book down. Even reading at a reasonable speed, I finished the book in two days. Glede Browne-Kabongo knows her craft and knows it well. I have rarely been so entertained this year.
Yes, I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review, but this is the real thing.
Winds of Fear (Fearless Series Book 3)
By: Gledé Browne Kabongo
5 out of 5 stars
The story Winds of Fear (Fearless Series Book 3) by Gledé Browne Kabongo is a mystery/psychological book. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. The book will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. When reading I found myself so engulfed in the plot and the characters that I felt like I was right there with them. I enjoyed reading about Abbie. She is an intelligent woman who is a mother and a great cook. When she first meets the neighbors next door she can’t help but feel that something is not right. When other situations occur that feeling becomes stronger. Is Abbie right about her new neighbors? Are they not who they say they are? Is her family in danger? Read this book to find out. The story brings out the emotions in the characters and mine went up and down with theirs. There are heartbreaking and heartwarming moments in this book. Don’t miss out on a thrilling ride that you will not be able to put down until the final page. I highly recommend it.
This is everything you could ask for in a thriller novel, suspense and mystery. This is my first book by this author and I can’t wait to see more from her. The twists and turns had me turning pages as well as sitting on the edge of my seat. How well do you know your neighbors? Abbie is about to find out but she doesn’t trust something about her nieghbors especailly when they just show up to help her out with her son. What could they be hiding? I highly recommend this must read story.
This is a stunning story. Abbie and Ty are busy with their lives and children when evil enters the picture. Abbie has her suspicions and not acting on them leads to devastating consequences. The story is gripping as it unravels. It is an emotionally filled narrative that will draw you in and have you turn the pages. The author keeps the suspense heightened as each predator goes off to travel their own selfish path. The topics of child kidnapping and sexual assault is discussed in a realistic and intense dialogue. The characters are full bodied and gets the reader to be personally involved in the story. This is just an absolute great book.
In this book, Abbie and Ty have been married for 10 years and have three children. Abbie is close to earning her doctorate degree and things are working out for the whole family. Then weird things start to happen. Once again Abbie’s family is threatened. I love Abbie. Her character is strong and engaging. This is the third in the series and reading the others in the series is helpful to understanding the backstory. They wouldn’t be necessary, but it is more enjoyable to have the history. The author has a gift for writing suspense with a lot of twists and turns. The book brings out all the emotions and has a satisfying ending. I received an advance copy of the book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
