I love reading novels to waste my time and to let go of everything that daily life offers. A story like this confirms this again! A novel that brings you sweet moments but also regularly smiles on your face. The writing style of this writer makes it easy to read the story. The humorous moments bring a smile to your face, the chemistry between Weasel and Rebecca reminded me of the time that I fell in love myself. You can feel the emotions towards the end of the story coming up between the sentences ….. and as it should be, a happy ending

This is the first book by this Author that I have read, and I will be reading more. A well written story with a very good storyline, the story flows smoothly across the pages. This is Culinary chef Rebecca Gilbert and Playboy cop, Weasel/Harlan’s story. These two will have so much to get past to get their happy ending. I recommend. This book is exactly the kind of story that I love to cozy up with and spend the day submerged in its world. It is a story that I would love to read snuggled next to a fire, or sitting on a porch in the summer…. It evokes such potent emotion, tension, and romance to make it a fun and heartfelt read. And the distinct characters that compose a strong and supportive friend group make this almost nostalgic for me, in the best possible sense.
From the start, I was drawn to Weasel’s character. What a journey he had with Rebecca. I appreciate his cool confidence, his persistence, his ability to be unapologetically himself. Rebecca is also a strong character, insightful, funny, and open with an incredibly warm heart. I think she is someone people can not only relate to, but would want as a friend.
Jones masterfully weaves the characters’ history throughout the story to illustrate their familiarity, comfort, and initial attraction, and yet still took the time for them to get to know each other in a more personal way. These scenes created stirring and intimate moments between them and elevated natural relationship experiences in a way that were a highlight for me. Jones does a remarkable job at pulling readers into their story and those numerous small moments that make new relationships so fun, exciting, and sexy.
Jones excels at building natural dialogue. The easy banter between friends, the witty back and forth flirtation between Rebecca and Weasel, and how the endearments slowly snuck into their interactions was all right on target for me, and helped progress the tension with a smooth and natural flow.
Overall, this is a romantic and satisfying next book in the White Oak series, and gets me excited for what comes next. I love the depth that Jones captures in this series highlighting the miserable beauty that can be love, and cannot wait to read book three!
