Every time I turn around, new opponents are looking to knock me down. No part of the magical community is safe. And now my enemies have left me with a horrible accusation hanging over my head, using so many tricks I can barely defend myself. If I want to clear my name and keep my freedom, I have to turn to the guys who once made my life hell. They’ve changed their tune and made amends, but how far … but how far can I really count on them? Especially if they find out that my greatest foes are within their families.
I’m going to have to find out. The truth can’t stay hidden forever. But no matter what the villains in the university and beyond it throw at me, I won’t give in. I’m the last of the Bloodstones… and hanging onto that role may be the only way I can save everything that matters to me.
Horrid Charms is the fourth book in a university-age paranormal academy series. Expect magical villainy, a tough heroine who bends to no one’s will, a dollop of steam, and a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers reverse harem romance where there’ll be no choosing required.

This was a tough part of the story but I thought it was well placed and very well done. We know Rory couldn’t do what she is accused of, but how does she prove it to everyone else?? I thoroughly enjoyed the progression with a couple of the scions and Rory, like I couldn’t stop smiling with their tender moments, vulnerability, and some of the sexy scenes…yes please, keep them coming!! I was happy to see one of the side characters step up, even if something was in it for her, and I am intrigued how she develops as the story progresses. I was happy to see Malcolm finally stop harassing Rory and help her like the others. I loved seeing Declan come out of his shell too and Connar is so protective and I want one in my life. I thought Jude’s background and side story was super convincing and sad and I am happy the funny one of the bunch has Rory in his corner, to help him through all of this and to keep his head on straight when others try to mess with it (most importantly himself). I think the court proceedings was intriguing but I had hoped for Rory and the guys to get more information/support before the one witness spoke up. I CANNOT WAIT for the barons to get what’s coming to them but I know I am going to have my heart broken based on some reviews for the future books before we get that HEA haha. Makes sense since its only book 4 of 8!!
Narration again, gets better and better each time. I could feel the sadness and defeatedness Rory kept feeling, made me want to hug her through my kindle app. I felt Jude and Connar’s love for Rory, and Declan’s want that he couldn’t give into. I felt Malcolm’s resolve to do the right thing despite his father’s backlash.
I thought this was a great plot-filled book and I was happy see some sexy times starting to happen more often haha. I would recommend this series to any RH fan. I like that Eva didnt forget about the academy aspect. We still deal with classes, powers, etc. I am already halfway through book 5 and I know book 6 is gonna destroy me
Another fantastic read in this addictive series, it was incredibly steamy and the intrigue just keeps increasing, I’d definately recomend this book.
This is book four of this series. In here everyone or most are starting to realize that they are fighting against something bigger. They decide to join forces once Rory is charged with murder. While I like these stories this will prob be my last in the series. I loved it at the beginning but it seems to be redundant now. I have been losing interest in the characters and what happens to them
I did listen on Audio. Meg Sylvan and Stephen Dexter do a great job! All those different voices!
Sh!t just got real…
Dayum!?! Didn’t see that coming and WTH with her mom being alive??? This story is too good to not find out how it will all end for Rory and her guys and their future! #HappyReading
Well that was an intense book. Malcolm finally comes around to Roy’s side. A big trial happens. A shocking revelation happens at the end. Rory still can’t trust anyone, well maybe the other scions. More action happens with Rory and her guys. It will be really interesting to see what happens in the next book.
I love this series! As always, Eva has done a phenomenal job with this storyline. This book is all about clearing Rory of murder charges and now Rory has the fear of all the fearmancers in school. Things are really beginning to take shape….Or are they? I can’t wait for the next book in the series!!
I was gifted an ARC and will gladly leave an honest and totally voluntary review.
My goodness!! What an incredibly intriguing and entertaining edition!!! I have to say how freaking much I adore Eva Chase!!! She draws out these intense plots and then she hits you with the very scene that you’ve been so eagerly anticipating!! And what a beautiful present she has gifted us readers with!! Rory faces her biggest challenge yet, clearing herself of murder. Her fellow scions are along side her and offering assistance with anything she requires, be it gathering information, brainstorming or bestowing a kiss or more. We see more of the corruption in both the joymancer and fearmancer worlds, proving that both are horribly flawed. But… which side is the lesser of two evils? Rory will have to sort that out as she continues to navigate her new world. I love the multiple points of view as reading the inner thoughts of Rory’s guys keeps you glued to these pages and giving a few awes along the way. There were so many tender moments that you can’t help but want to be in Rory’s shoes during those scenes! I have to gush over the fact that this is not soley a passion driven story, there is story depth, memorable characters and a plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Not all RH series can boast of those qualities!! Bravo to Ms. Chase who sets the bar exceptionally high!!!
Horrid Charms is Book 4 in the Royals of Villain Academy series. As we have come to expect from Eva Chase, Horrid Charms is exceptionally well written with characters that are extremely well developed and interesting. We find Rory and her guys trying to prove her innocent of the murder charges she has been falsely accused. As well, they are also trying to discover who is behind this accusation because Rory is not going to give up. She is bound and determined to prove her innocence and handle anything that is thrown at her. She is one awesome heroine. Looking forward to the next book to see what Eva Chase has in store for Rory and her guys. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.
This series is one of the reasons Eva Chase is one of my favorite authors. Her books always contain characters that are complex and flawed but given the right circumstances can be redeemed. Rory is one of the best examples of this. She is strong, courageous (although afraid), thoughtful and caring. She has grown in her powers and understanding of how to accomplish her goals. I love that the guys have become her strength and they are not afraid to show it. Malcom is still a work in progress but I think he has seen some things that has him rethinking his outlook. It’s no wonder these guys have attitude issues with the type of parental support they have had. I can’t wait for the next book. I’m ready for all of the scions to replace the barons. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
The fourth book in this absolutely amazing series that I have come to love so much. This one Rory and the guys are all trying to figure out who set her up and how to prove shes innocent. I just love that she doesnt take crap from anyone and will give it right back. Really could not get enough and now I am waiting for the next one to see whats coming their way next.
Falsely accused of murder, Rory is in trouble but now all other scions come together to help her. With all the plot twists and turns, the romance continues on with quite a bit of heat…and something unexpected is revealed at the end. Cliffhanger warning but also a page turner.
I adore Eva Chase, and it’s series like her Royals of Villain Academy books that shows why. Superbly written and totally fun. What more could one ask for? Oh yes, great plots, a neat overarching story line, fantastic world-building and wonderfully crafted characters. I suppose having all of those too definitely helps. So now we are up to book 4: Horrid Charms. Rory is back and continues as the perfect example of the sort of kick-a** gal I love the most. We’ve got steam as our slow-burn enemies-to-lovers reverse harem romance heats up even more. We’ve got action galore as Rory works to clear her name of a false murder accusation. We’ve got intrigue, villainy, thrills, magic and delights. Frankly, we’ve got pretty much everything we could want and it’s all superb. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Holy moly!!!! Talk about an insane amount of exciting twists and turns. Rory thankfully gets closer to her fellow scions throughout all the craziness. This particular book picks right up from the last one with the black suits picking her up for alleged murder. Desperate to prove her innocence she and the guys try everything they can to get to the truth. But exactly what does get revealed from it? Twists and turns every which way, and one brave, strong, kind hearted girl in the middle. Brace yourselves though for there is a HUGE cliffhanger in the final chapter that I doubt anyone saw coming. Suffice to say I CAN’T WAIT for the follow up book to come out .
Rory is awaiting her trial for supposedly killing Imogene, one of her dorm mates. At least they have let her return to the Academy to wait, thanks to Declan and his legal knowledge. How can Rory prove her innocence? Hope comes from two unexpected sources. Well written with a great plot and strong characters, a must read RH fantasy
Absolutely amazing! Ms. Chase did it again! Another nail-biting cliffhanger!
“Horrid Charms” is the fourth book in this series and each book just keeps getting better and better.
Rory’s arrested for murdering her friend and has to go on trial for it. It was interesting to see which of the four scions supported her and how far some of them went to do so. While she is preparing for her trial, she learns more about the conflicts between the joymancers and fearmancers and gets to spend some quality time with her guys.
I hope Book 5 is coming soon!
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
Royals of Villain Academy 4: Horrid Charms
by Eva Chase 4 Stars
******** May Contain Some Spoilers ********
I will try my absolute best to keep spoilers to a minimum or completely out of my review. Sometimes it can be hard to do so.
I love this series! Eva has done a phenomenal job with this storyline and has kept it intriguing. Honestly I’m not sure how I feel about this book. Eva did her job amazingly with this book as she has with the others. This book is all about clearing Rory of murder charges. It’s kinda cool that almost every fearmancer at the academy is scared of Rory now. I’m so ready for the older barons to get what’s coming to them. Oh and that blacksuit, Lillian, that was Rory’s mothers best friend, she needs to die! The read between Rory, Connor, and Jude get really steamy and the “L” word gets said. Things with Declan get alot more interesting. What’s going on with Malcolm and Rory, well it’s complicated. The ending is a cliffhanger, but I don’t believe it’s real, it’s a trap!
