I absolutely enjoyed this book and My heart is still reeling from reading this amazing book!! I could not stop, I would not stop and I was hooked – I did not want this book to end.
Abby Jimenez sure knows how to write a heart wrenching story about a woman who is clearly suffering from deep depression about losing her fiancée. As she tries to move on two years later, and meeting Jason – as perfect as he is, life is not always a bed of roses and it’s the imperfects that build on stronger relationships that will definitely last through the test of time.
What an amazing story that is realistic with characters that you will fall in love with, dialogue that will make you swoon and a cast of characters that just complete this wonderful happy ever after!
This was originally Abby’s first novel, but she released The Friend Zone prior to this to help give life to Sloan’s story and to tell of Kristin’s (her best friend) love story. Wow, did she ever give life to her! If you have not read The Friend Zone, do it!! You won’t be disappointed but as soon as you finish TFZ read this book!! You will appreciate it all the more! The Happy Ever After Playlist is such a great story of love and a doggo, independence, and being true to yourself. Each chapter has a different song assigned to it, which helps to tell the mood of the story and really draw you in….do yourself a favor and play the song as you read each chapter. I was crying by page 2, but I was laughing right there after. Abby does a fantastic job at fact checking as well, she does a lot of research before she writes about something, so you will enjoy it all the more and have a better understanding of important variations of life events. You seriously don’t want to miss this. Also be sure to follow Abby and her crew on Facebook…they are hysterical and will make your day!
Just like in her first book, Abby brings realistic characters that remind the reader of a friend, family member, or even themselves. There will be tears, laughter, and possibly some yelling at the pages since there are realistic situations. Happy reading!
I was fortunate enough to receive an Advanced Reader Copy from the Author, and I must say she has done it again!!! After reading The Friend Zone, I wasn’t expecting to love a book more than that! But with the Happy Ever After Playlist, I’m glad to say I was wrong! I LOVE how she shows her characters growing throughout the story and I love the twists that make you rethink everything you read from the beginning! I cannot wait for the release in April! This is truly an amazing book and an amazing story! Everyone should read it, even if you aren’t into romance novels! You will not regret it!
Technically you do not have to read The Friend Zone to enjoy The Happy Ever After Playlist, but why wouldn’t you!!! If you haven’t read The Friend Zone, I highly recommend you stop reading this review and go and buy it!! Then after you buy it, preorder The Happy Ever After Playlist. Trust me, you will be happy you did. I was lucky enough to read an arc of this book and I cannot even express how much I loved it!!! The book takes place two years after TFZ and we are once again immersed in Abby Jimenez’s amazing world with characters I want to hang out with. I love how the story has continued and how the characters have grown! I love the new characters brought into the book and I am amazed with how flawlessly the book flows. It once again had me both laughing and crying! I cannot wait for the next book!! Just like the TFZ I have pre ordered my Kindle copy and will buy both the paperback and audiobook when it comes out. It is not often I find an author who brings the characters to life the way she does. By the time the book was over I felt like I was saying goodbye to old friends and I hope they appear in the future books. Thank you for these great books and thank you for the opportunity to read it early!! Everyone needs to buy a copy of it and buy and extra for a friend!!
After reading The Friend Zone, I was left wondering what exactly happened to Sloane? In The Happy Ever After Playlist, we get to visit Sloane two years after the accident that left her fiance in a coma. She’s grieving the death of a life she thought she would be living and not quite sure how to move forward. That’s when a puppy named Tucker enters her life!
Tucker is hilarious and I love how he was able to get Sloane out of her shell a bit. She tries to contact Tucker’s owner – some guy named Jason – but she doesn’t hear back and decides that Tucker is her dog now. That’s when Jason and Sloane have their meet-cute. I loved the way Abby Jimenez is able to create this great chemistry between two characters who don’t even meet yet! You see, Jason is a singer and has been overseas for a few weeks. He thought he left his pup in capable hands, but his pup got lost and Sloane was the one who found him. Now Jason wants his dog back, but Sloane won’t agree. The witty banter had a grin on my face the whole time.
I absolutely loved how Sloane and Jason got to know one another. It was slow and sweet and Jason was so respectful of Sloane’s feelings. He knew to be tender with her heart. Sloane’s feelings were so transparent and I loved that. She was excited and hopeful, but wasn’t sure if she was moving too fast.
The relationship between Sloan and Kristen that I loved so much in TFZ, was also here in The Happy Ever After Playlist. These two are always there for each other no matter what. We should all be so lucky to have friends like that in our lives. I also loved Jason’s family and how much they support him. There were parts in this book that reminded me of how tight I am with my family and my husband’s family. When someone needs help, whether that’s around the house or on a property – we all show up and help the best way we can. That family dynamic was so very special in this book and it hit home for me in so many ways.
I won’t spoil the rest of the book for you, but just know that I loved it so very much. The feelings between these two people were so genuine and real. They are a team and are willing to take on anything and to always keep each other happy. The level of angst that Jimenez writes is so so so good. My heart strings were being pulled on so hard and I couldn’t help it when there were tears streaming down my face. If you get a chance to read The Friend Zone and can’t wait to read Sloane’s story – you won’t be disappointed! I can’t wait to re-read this beautifully written book. The Happy Ever After Playlist is set to release April 14, 2020.
p.s. each chapter has a song that corresponds to what is happening in that chapter. Listen to the music – I loved it so much and it added another dimension to this book.
