Who is the Immortal Hunter
Immortal Hunter by Patricia D. Eddy is part of the Vampire Mates series by Midnight Coven, with each book by a different author. This is the first book I have read by this author so I was not sure what to expect but I picked it up as I read a couple others in the series and thought I would try another “new to me” author that was part of the series.
This is the story of Ewan and Kara. Ewan was raised in Scotland by a vampire hunting family. So he has only ever known to hunt and to hate them. But not all is as it appears which he realizes one night. So he flees and finally lands in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada to make a new life. There he becomes a bartender and life is settling down. Until Kara walks into the bar.
Kara is a vampyre who lives in St. Johns. She protects the town, keeps other vampires out and watches over the local witches coven. In exchange she is left to live her life without any issues.
Kara upends Ewan’s life in a short period of time once they meet. But he also upends her life as he makes her heart beat again. But another supernatural has come to St. Johns with the worst of intentions and it is going to cause issues for Ewan and Kara. Will this pair of fated mates be able to find their way around or through to get their forever, in whatever manner that takes?
This is a fast paced, fun, interesting, action packed novella with a nice story-line. I loved the fact that Kara is kicked butt and a true female Alpha at 200 years old. I also really liked how Kara and Ewan ended up coming together with a great ending.
I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This is the second book I have had the pleasure of reading by Patricia D. Eddy and I am looking forward to reading more.
Immortal Hunter is part of the Midnight Coven’s Vampire Mates series, which consists of thirteen novellas by different authors in a shared world, each of them a standalone paranormal romance.
If you would like to know more about Ewan’s background story I recommend you read Forever Kept by Patrician D. Eddy it’s another Novella for The Midnight Coven, series 1 Vampire Brides.
Ewan is a Hunter who is sworn to protect humans from Vampires but after seeing what his fellow hunters were doing to Riley a human with rare blood and Declan an ancient vampire (Forever Kept) he wasn’t able to turn a blind eye and in the end had to leave the only home and family he had left. Ewan sneaks himself on board a ship that takes him to Canada, when a supernatural tells him to head to St. Johns Newfoundland where he’ll be able to find work and by safe.
Kara is a 200 year old vampire and has lived in St. Johns for most of her made life. Kara has a deal with the local coven of witches to be the only vampire aloud to be in St. Johns, no hunters or vampires are aloud. She protects the town from all supernaturals that are not there with good intentions. But one night while out and about she runs into a new vampire that has just killed someone. Needing a drink she meets the new bartender who isn’t what he seems. But when her heart starts to beat everything is going to change.
This author has done a fantastic job in keeping me entertained and I can’t wait to see what Patricia comes up with next!
Immortal Hunter
Vampire Mates
By: Patricia D. Eddy, Midnight Coven
Narrated by: Richard Sawyer, Lucy Rivers
While paranormal is not my go to listen, I just love Patricia D Eddy, and when given the chance to listen to her, I take it! And I am so glad I did! This novella had me hooked from the start. Ewan is a vampire hunter, but has left the trade and gone to St Johns where he thought he would be safe. When Kara walks in, all bets are off. His hunting senses are up, but will he be able to resist her glamourizing? Kara may be attracted to Ewan, but what she finds is so much more. With a twist of fate, will Kara be able to keep Ewan safe? I loved this! It’s short, it’s hot, it’s action packed and the characters are so easy to love.
Lucy Rivers and Richard Sawyer are wonderful in their portrayal of this short. Rivers is amazing, always has so many great voices and really tunes into her characters. She has an old lady voice in this that is so believable, it’s hard to think it’s coming from her! This is my first listen to Sawyer, and I enjoyed his voice. He found his pace and fit the part of Ewan beautifully.

Ewan & Kara
Hunter & Shield Maiden
Another quick read and another favorite in the series. The story was light but still action packed and has an engaging plot. Linked to Forever Kept from the Vampire Brides series. Ewan & Kara literally fought their way to get their HEA.
Another great read Looking forward to the next series Cursed Coven
Ewan is a vampire hunter on the run from his past. Kara is a vampire who lives in St. John’s where she protects the town from other vampires. Kara and Ewan should be enemies but it turns out they are fated mates. They don’t get an easy HEA they have to literally fight for it. This well written novella has intriguing characters, action, danger, revenge, steam and is a great addition to the Vampire Mates series.
Part of the Vampire Mates series a well written book that held my interest throughout. This is a short quick story to read. This is Kara, and Ewan’s story. I enjoyed reading and will be looking at more in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Dark magic, an evil enemy, a vampire, a Hunter, fated mates…Patricia Eddy combines all these elements into a romantic tale that’s easy to read, well written with strong characters. Ewan was introduced in Eddy’s Forever Kept.
Kāra is a protector and when she meets Ewan she feels something she hasn’t felt in centuries. Convincing this man, who should be her enemy, that they are fated is to be together may not be easy. Dark spells are cast and an old enemy surfaces who forces a violent confrontation. Will Kāra and Ewan’s bond be strong enough to save them both?
Gosh, I love Ewan and Kara. I am loving this entire series as every character is so different but so enthralling and I love it! I like that in this story it’s the woman that meets her mate and her heart starts beating. It was refreshing to see the female one go through the emotions and changes in realizing she met her mate. I only wish there would have been an epilogue.

The Hunter and the Shield Maiden
After helping a vampire, Ewan is a Hunter on the run. His need for a “safe” place leads him to St. John’s. Kara is a vampire trying to keep St. John’s safe. These two should be enemies but both feel a “pull” to the other. Do they get a HEA with no problems? Of course not! Evil’s coming but first an unwelcome visitor from Kara’s past arrives in St. John’s. This story is set in a shared “world” of multiple authors but each story is a stand-alone. I enjoyed this one but now find myself wanting to read ALL the stories from this world!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.

This is the second novella written by Patricia in this Vampire romance series (first is Forever Kept), so although not necessary it is better to read in sequence. The main characters Ewan and Kara are captivating, the plot interesting and keeps you glued. Hope to have more of these (ideally longer).
This is part of the world of Vampire Mates a multi author world where the vampires finally find the one that completes them
This is Owen Blair’s story We met Owen in Forever Kept he was the hunter that helped to save Riley when the Hunters wanted to use her blood to kill vampires after finding it was toxic to them He was helping her escape when Declan her mate came to her rescue for his help Declan spared him and now he is on the run from the rest of the hunters. He smuggles himself on board a boat and heads to Canada there a helpful supernatural tells him to head to St. Johns, Newfoundland a town that is perfectly neutral and where he would be safe What he doesn’t expect is to find his mate there and that she would be a vampire When her past comes back to haunt them they will have to work together if they are to survive and keep the town safe.
This is another fast paced book that keeps you engaged from the very first page I would highly recommend it and even though you don’t have to Ii would suggest that you read Forever Kept as well
I was really excited that we get Ewan’s story because on Forever Kept I really loved even if he did a few questionable things he redeemed himself and I knew I’d love his story. Swan is on the run hiding from his previous Hunter members and by fate ends up in St. John. He obtains a job, housing, and runs into Kara a beautiful woman. Kara is a vampire and the protector of St. John so she gets curious about Ewan and why he’s in town, these two have an instant chemistry and it’s very steamy. I loved their story because even if it was instant lust the move struggled some and they had to endure some dramas to make it through. We got quite a bit of action and introduced to other wonderful characters and I was so happy Ewan got his happy.
Take every vampire story you’ve read and switch the hero and heroine around and you’ll have this amazing book!
Ewan is running from Hunters who are out to extract revenge when he made a move against them. He takes some pretty risky steps along the way to find a safe place to hide. Being human, he’s ready to set aside his past life, pretend vampires no longer exist, and hopefully live in peace. But when he meets Kara he finds himself at a crossroads. To step into her life and all the horror and danger that it might hold, or to allow their bond to break so that he can live free of her.
I absolutely loved Kara! She was one serious kicka—vampire with moves worthy of a movie screen. Once she realized that Ewan was her mate, she was willing to do anything to protect him. The steps she took to do so were extreme and highlighted how tough this heroine was. Can you say “alpha heroine”?
While Ewan was not in the least effeminate, his role was that of the weaker being, the character in danger, and the one that needed saving. He struggled with his own feelings and along the way was taken unfair advantage of that led to a decision that put this couple at risk. Nevertheless, when it was time for him to stand up for his mate, he did so in a fashion that proved he loved her with everything he had.
This was quite a change from what I normally read and I applaud this author for writing these characters in this way. I would have enjoyed having a bit more build up before the action, a chance to really see this couple together. However, for a novella, this has a lot to offer with action and drama and plenty of steam.
Immortal Hunter by Patricia D. Eddy, is part of the Vampire Mates series. Each book is by a different author and can be read as a complete stand alone. This is the first one of this series that I have read although I have read several of Patricia’s other books in the past and love every one of them.
Ewan Blair is Scotland born but orphaned young, he was raised by vampire hunters. It’s the only life he’s known. Vampires are his sworn enemy. Until he realizes these hunters aren’t what he thought they were at all. Ewan is forced to flee with nowhere to go, until a stranger steps in and gives him hope. A place where he can go to make a new life, St. Johns, Newfoundland.
Kara is a vampire and has lived in St. Johns for a very long time. Kara has a deal with the local coven of witches. She protects the town from others like her, keeps them safe, and in return, is allowed to stay. Everything is going along fine until the night she met the new bartender and her world was turned upside down. Her long dead heart suddenly woke up.
Kara and Ewan find something in each other that neither of them imagined possible. At the same time, evil has come to town and threatens their very existence.
For me, this was a story of the power of love. Kara and Ewan hadn’t known each other for long but the strength of their bond was strong. Was it strong enough, though, to fight the evil threatening them? Or was their time together short lived?
Once again, this author has succeeded in surprising me. This is a fairly short book but short in length only. There is so much here. I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t put it down. I had to know what happened next. The chemistry between Ewan and Kara was crazy intense. I can’t wait to see what Patricia comes up with next!
This novella is part of The Vampire Mates series by the Midnight Coven. Ewan and Kara’s story is fast-paced, action packed, suspenseful, and sexy. The storyline is also filled with twists and turns. Richard Sawyer and Lucy Rivers did a great job with the narration. I read this story before, and the audiobook version is even better. I loved it!
I loved how this book actually links up in the beginning to Ewan who we met in Patrica D. Eddy’s Forever Kept – (Vampire Brides) series.
Ewan is on the run trying to get away from his Hunter past and is directed some may say by fate to St. John’s and from here not only does he get a new life but he meets a Maiden Shield by the name of Kara, who happens to be a Vampire. Both Kara and Ewan have plenty to deal with in this faced past and action packed book with a great pace along with a few surprises and a twist or two that when you get to the end you feel like it was a book not a novella. Now I want to find out more about Mist and Herja to see what they are like!
