Heartwrenching and gorgeous and so incredibly engaging. –New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today Bestselling Author, Laurelin Paige“Some love affairs aren’t meant for the public eye. Some love affairs won’t survive the fallout.”International pop star Sean das Dores has two loves in his life: his music and his long-term girlfriend Jo—though not necessarily in that order. So when he … necessarily in that order. So when he finds himself in the throes of a panic attack before a show, he chooses her over the arena of fans chanting his name.
What he doesn’t expect to find when he makes it home, is Jo…in bed with his uncle Apollo.
“Maybe we are all looking for something that feels a little wrong.
Maybe we all get off on that kind of thing.”
Ignoring his uncle’s ominous warnings, Sean decides on a betrayal of his own: to seek comfort in the one person Apollo wants this hidden from—Calliope das Dores.
But when he arrives at her lake house—just before his twenty-first birthday—he quickly learns he was the last to know of their partners’ deception.
“Are we really going to do this?
Rebound with each other?”
What starts as an act of revenge rekindles long-buried desires between the forbidden lovers. As Sean and Calliope drive across the country, their stunned exes follow—and so do the secrets they hoped would stay hidden.
But all road trips, and some love affairs, have to end somewhere.

This is a story of love and infidelity, second chances, betrayal. This is Calliope and Sean’s story. Sean has loved his uncle’s wife for awhile. Sean caught his girlfriend in bed with his uncle, of course he told Calliope. Their interlude is taboo. Can they get over this or will they never have a chance at love. This is a great story, played out well and the characters were just so believable and well written.

I guess I forgot to go back and write a review on this one. This book was poetry. Plain and simple. It was my first JR Rogue book, but won’t be my last. I went into this book mostly blind. I know it was loosely based on a singer, but I am not familiar with him. I am not sure if I would have liked this book more or less having known his music. I was focused on Jen’s words. I am not usually a fan of age gap romance and honestly, I still don’t know 100% what happened here. All I know is that love prevailed in the end. No matter the obstacles, and there were many.
When I first started reading this book I really wasn’t so sure about it, but I with each page I desperately needed to know more. The writing is poetic and also very vague with read between the line innuendos that hint at a lot of things. You crave to know for sure. Before I knew it I was at the end and filled with so many emotions I didn’t even know how to sort.
My heart aches for Sean and Calliope. The things these two go through at the hands of their partners was heartbreaking. I craved every moment between them. It was so forbidden, yet held so much emotion, and so many words left unsaid. I loved seeing the back an forth from the past to the future. We see them grow closer together because they are kindred spirits and left alone by the ones who are supposed to love them. The moments they were together were real, raw, and brushes deeply into the soul of their character, but doesn’t quite scratch the surface. I wanted so much for the happiness of the both of them.
Jo and Apollo were the worse human beings on the fictional planet. I felt no remorse for what happens with any of them and honestly feel like worse things should have happened to the both of them. Maybe you want to call it convenient that Sean and Calliope are both with terrible people, but I thin it does a great job of showing a parallel between Calliope and Apollo to Sean and Jo. It was interesting to see from Calliope’s perspective on how she saw similarities in their relationship.
The Rebound blew me away. I know this story will stay with me for a long long time. I’m still trying to sort out my emotions. I loved and hated the writing all at the same time, but I can’t help but see how beautifully poetic it was. Sean and Calliope have a special place in my heart.
My favorite from Rogue, amazing writing.
J.R. Rogue is one of my favorites–and this book? Flawless. LOVED IT!
Fun, angsty romance. The plot was interesting. I wish there was more to the story.
Sean was well described although weak and timid. I can understand to a point given his life but on the other hand his life should’ve made him tougher. I didn’t like Jo or his uncle. His uncle was such a weak man but in a different way than Sean, once you read you’ll understand.Calliope was another well described character…although it took a little longer getting to know parts of her. She had a rough life as well. You will be in your feelings throughout this book and I’m including disgust as well. The storyline was good.

I’ve come away with mixed feelings about this book because whilst I enjoyed seeing Sean and Calliope finally let go and act on their feelings for each other, I felt like Sean remained that teenager knocking on Apollo’s door looking for acceptance. He never seems to mature or ‘grow’ despite becoming a success and experiencing so much of what the world has to offer. Calliope almost takes on the mother role and there were times I felt like she controlled him just like he’d allowed Jo to do. He doesn’t even really make a stand against his uncle when it comes down to it and then seems to be just going through the motions for 7 years until Calliope yet again makes the decisions. However, I could tell that this author knows how to blend words and have readers feel the story, so I wasn’t surprised to discover that she also writes poetry because some of the scenes were made of beautiful and moving words that allowed me to experience what was happening
