My love is poison. His kiss is mine.“The first time he saw me I was shattered glass, and he was a shadow. If I had stayed, he would have just faded away.”It’s strange how easy it is to tell our stories to a stranger’s eyes. The truth about Connor Stratford and I had always been a sad tale. Over ten years of chasing, tears, lies, vows, and leaving. Two people who never loved each other at the same … each other at the same time, but couldn’t let each other go.
Now here I was telling our story over drinks midday in an airport bar with my old diary clutched in my hand. Telling some version of our story, anyway.
I left him once with no goodbye. Now I was returning home to give him what he needed to move on.
“It’s important. It’s what you’re thinking.”
I knew what his message meant, sent in the middle of the night after I woke from a fever dream.
He was finally ready, and so was I. I just needed to finally give him the kiss he begged for.
The one that meant goodbye.

This is a new author for me. This is not a light or easy read. I am intrigued by the description, especially because it is supposed to be based on a true life story. This,is,a dark read for me. It is emotionally charged but also very self deprecating and that is what bothered me the most and I did feel it was, just too raw, too honest, too much. I hope that the author or whoever this story is based on, find peace and happiness. The story was too depressing for me – i didn’t enjoy it but I, absolutely, felt for the person behind the story so I am giving the story a 3.5 which ends up as a 4 in favour of the author/

Like another reviewer said this book has a beautiful cover. I found it and the blurb intriguing. I only finished the entire story because I won a paperback copy from another author and felt obligated to do so.
This is the lowest star I have ever rated a book and there is so much negative I could say about this story, however I’m not here to bring the author down for a story that was inspired by a true story. It was just not for me and while this is the first thing I have read from this author I do plan on giving her other books/poetry a chance.
It’s hard for me to figure out how to describe my feelings over this book. I kind of feel like I missed out on something huge. But then, I realize the story is based on truth. No person is the same. No marriage or relationship is the same. They both made mistakes. Where most would throw in the towel for good, they never let the string between them sever…fray, maybe, but not break. Gwen struggled, as did Connor, but Connor was able to grow and be a strong lifeline that Gwen needed him to be. His love was enough to hold them both up, and as much as she wants to pull them both under, he remained as steady as he could. The ending threw me for a loop. I didn’t see it coming.
A real love story. Filled with hard truths and flawed characters. A story that stays with you long after you have finished it.
This was beautifully written .It was raw and full of anguish, pain and heartache .This was filled with love the strong love Connor had for Gwen even in the face of the problems they faced was amazing.Their story was breathtakingly beautiful.

Have you ever read a book that grabbed a hold on you and you could not let go. This book was like that for me. A roller coaster ride of emotions as the characters shared their thoughts and feelings as the story unfolds. Gwen and Connor are so drawn and attracted to one another but fate just doesn’t seem to bring them together like it should. Life is not always a HEA but the stories behind them will surprise you.

This story, which is inspired by true events, is so emotional raw and complicated. It’s honest and really takes you on one hell of a journey.
It felt J.R. Rogue spilled every emotion she ever had onto the pages and gave us the intense realness of flawed humans.

Not all relationships are perfect. Gwen and Conner are not an average couple. They met in their early 20s and we are shown how the relationship fails and succeeds at different times in their lives. This story is very emotional and at times I found it difficult to read to due Gwen’s character. It is a powerful detailed story.

Kiss me like you mean it is a book full of emotion but above all it was brutally honest too. It did take me a little while to get into it but when I did my goodness did it leave a mark. Definitely a real tear-jerker
Wow. Stunned is what I felt just a few pages in. Immediately I had hopes and dreams for where this book was going. But, such a sad existence and sorrow being played out. Selling yourself short and using your body to get through life. The whole book revolved around sex. Meaningless sex. Passionate sex. I generally appreciate books with angst woven in. This one rubbed me a bit the wrong way. It saddened me. There really wasn’t a thread of light running through. This book really just sunk my mood every day I read it, like no other book has (and that’s not because I haven’t read angsty or sorrowful books)

BRUTALLY BEAUTIFUL!
Insta everything. It’s raw heartfelt intense and beautiful with a vivid bold storyline that’s brutally gripping and impossible to put down. You feel it, you live and can’t escape it. A fantastic read I’m extremely grateful to have read.
I’m still a little shell shocked from this story! It took me a few chapters to really get into it, but by then I couldn’t put it down. It’s so raw, devastating emotional. But throughout, there feels like hope. Although I have never had to deal with the emotional and mental health issues as seen in this book, it doesn’t matter. I still feel the raw emotions expressed in this story and helped me understand some parallels in my own life. This is my first story by this author, but it won’t be my last. I received this story at no cost in exchange for my honest review.
This book was captivating, wellwritten and filled with lots of emotions. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. Can not wait to see what the next book will be about.
