He’s my boss’s brother. Intense and stoic. Humble, disciplined ex-military. And built like a gorgeously rugged tank that somehow manages to make me feel dainty.I’ve been keeping a very big, very necessary secret from his entire family for years now. I’ve never liked having to do it. In fact, it’s why I’ve been avoiding him from practically the first day we met.Because strangely, I want to let him … strangely, I want to let him in. But being an FBI agent is the only thing I’ve ever felt was my true calling. Losing everything I’ve spent years building would just decimate me.
Problem is, I don’t have a choice anymore. I’m desperate for the kind of help only he can provide. Like I’ve always told my sister, I’d have to be no-other-choice desperate for it to come to this.
And I am.

I felt the story was too choppy with not enough flow. She is an FBI agent with Asbergers. He is a wounded vet who has returned home He has wanted her since he first met her. He gets involved helping her widowed sisters child who has it as well. The story started off different from others but quickly went to “fill in sex”and that’s where it lost the flow. It then proceeds to high adventure in rescuing a child. .
This is a very well-written story. Never before have I come across a book with one of the main characters having Asperger’s. IMO, the author portrayed well the struggles both parties go through when one of them has this disorder. The first scene where Sutton and Maddy are intimate was so hot! Goodness, Christa Wick has a gift for writing the sexy parts. Buzzsaw is in one of my favorite scenes; I laughed so much at that part. I had tears in my eyes as I read the boy’s poem from his father, as well as when Honey Bee talks to Sutton about her mom near the end of the book. The wedding vows are some of the most beautiful ones I’ve read.
This is the fourth book in the His to Claim series and the first book by Christa Wick that I’ve read. While the books in this series share characters they are each their own story. Every Last Secret is both a story you’ve read and completely new. The heroine, uncharacteristically, is the one closed off and unreachable in this one. Although, it isn’t for the reason you may think.
Sutton is truly a unique character and definitely swoon-worthy. His patience is remarkable and his understanding and reading of situations are amazing. Maddy tries, she really does. She knows her limitations and has learned very well to deal with them. She wants more, she doesn’t think she can have more. Sutton is determined to prove her wrong.
There’s both low and high-level drama going on in this one. You get a little of everything. The close family ties in the Turk family are heartwarming and the characters of Willow Gap are wonderful, although they don’t feature strongly. As a special education teacher, this story hit me on many different levels. You won’t regret picking this one up!
Very nice full of suspe
I had not read the preceding books, however I did find it fascinating the angle of Maddy being on the spectrum/sensory issues.
Sutton is ex-military, back home after being injured. He is intense, stoic, humble, and disciplined. He likes Maddy, an FBI agent who works for his brother Emerson. .She has been keeping a very big and necessary secret from his entire family for years. She has never liked doing it, and she has avoided him from almost the first day they met. Her brother-in-law recently died in the military, and her nephew is suffering. She asks Sutton to help with him. – Sutton is a wonderful character, and his family is interesting. Maddy is an unusual character but likeable. Her sister and nephew are a big part of the story. The first two-thirds of the book is slow. I thought about quit reading the book several times but am glad I stayed with it. I loved the last third. I especially enjoyed the two epilogues.
Sutton is such a great guy. Swoon!! He fights hard for Maddy despite not knowing her issues until he figures them out. But god does she put him through the wringer. This is a step in a different direction from what most women deal with when she is the cold and closed off one even after their steamy encounters. She is detached and distant. Making him come across as the more emotional one. When in fact it is due to her processing issues. It was a nice perspective and insight into the Aspergers side and with her nephew Caiden. Loved the epilogues at the end.
The author presents a well rounded picture of what Asperger’s Syndrome can look like and how it might affect a person and those close to them. Great information. Obviously, the author either knows of what she speaks or did careful research about the condition as well as rescue operations. I appreciate an intelligently presented story that holds together without being contrived. I would definitely want to read more by this author. Time well spent.
What an interesting storyline. I liked it because it was different than other romance books. I was somewhat disappointed in how Sutton’s character was written. His personality wasn’t as strong or put together as his brothers. Sutton was indecisive and passive which I didn’t expect from a former parachute jumper in the military. I know that Maddy could not have control over her social anxiety but it didn’t jive with her being a top FBI agent. As usual I loved seeing my little Leah growing up. As a matter of fact one of the things I like about the series is that each book has a chronological time frame. Little Leah is now four years old in this book. I’m looking forward to see how old she will be in the final book, Every Last Reason. Until next time y’all happy reading.
This was another great story in this series. Sutton has had feelings for Maddy for a long time but it seems that she doesn’t feel the same way. Maddy, however, is hiding a huge secret from him and everyone around her. She wants to love him but feels she is not the right person. Their story is sweet and emotional. I especially loved the ending. I might have shed a few tears.
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book!
I thoroughly enjoyed this amazing and unique read. This book is Sutton and Maddy’s story and if you are familiar with other books in this series you will know that these two have been circling each other for quite a while and finally things begin to heat up. Sutton is swoon worthy and really an epic book boyfriend. He delivers all the tingles you could ask for, while making your heart melt. Maddy has a secret and it is a pretty big one. As her personal story begins to unfold we finally get a look at who this dedicated agent is and what makes her tick. I found it eye opening, entertaining and very well done. I loved how this couple’s relationship evolved. I felt this was potrayed in a interesting but realistic way. The storyline offers plenty of emotional turmoil, angst, drama, sweetness and steam. I will not say much more because I do not want to give spoilers. However, I will say this. In my opinion, this is not simply just a great book. I feel that it is also an important one that every romance fan should read.
I don’t get it….each brother is more and more delicious and now Sutton is my number one. Sutton has been wanting Maddy, his twin brother’s FBI partner since he first met her two years ago. He’s never made a move and now she comes to him for help…of course he’s not going to say no and what he gets involved in…is so so so much more. While helping her and her family, he learns more about who Maddy is, and he is more than determined to have her and show her….he is not going anywhere.
Oh my my my my my….I’ve swooned and sighed with the other brothers…but Sutton takes the cake, icing, candles…all of it. What a man, a true man, a man who once he met Maddy, no one compared and he didn’t want anyone else…and he didn’t!!!!!! I LOVED that fact and that he was kind, generous, giving, amazing with kids, honest, patient and didn’t waver when he finds out the secret. This book and all the feels, steam, more sighing and swooning, some suspense, heroism all around and Sutton…Sutton…Sutton!!!!!
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
An amazing tale!
That cold shoulder Sutton is receiving from Madigan hides a more difficult issue. I admire the strength Maddie exhibits as she struggles to express her feelings for Sutton. Sutton, as he begins to understand, gives his all to supply what she needs in a relationship. This is a deeply moving love story, amid some of the chaotic times that are inevitable when raising children.
I love seeing the closeness, the dynamics of the Turks and their extended family. The story highlights real life problems and one family’s way of dealing with them. I wish they lived in my community and I was a part of their group. Very exciting, truly rewarding!
I loved Sutton and Maddy’s story!
It had a wonderful storyline and the fantastic characters of all the Turks books! I love the Turks! I love how patient and kind Sutton was to Maddy and Caiden. He was going to help them anyway he could. This book has some suspense, family drama, love and hot, steamy sexiness!
This series has become one of my favorite series! I can’t wait to read Emerson’s story!
Beautiful romance sensitively addresses a common issue
Sutton has been wanting to get closer to Maddy for two years, and it seems she returns his interest but she’s determined to keep her distance. When her sister and nephew move in with her, she has to go to Sutton to ask for his help with her nephew.
It’s difficult to discuss what I loved about this book without spoiling the secret, but I will say that it was a subject that I am very familiar with. I think the author must be, too, because the writing was so on-point and the issue was so compassionately handled, only someone with first-hand knowledge would have been able to pick up on all the little nuances and subtleties in addition to the well-known parts.
This one has a LOT more steam than any of the earlier books, but it’s written as an integral part of Sutton and Maddy’s communication and trust. The second half has an extended period of intense suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout, and it left me breathless right through the nail-biting conclusion.
All the Turks are here, and the emphasis on family and community is as strong as ever. This has become one of my all-time favorite series, and this book is a particular favorite that stands out from the rest. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
