Jade isn’t your typical cloud-sitting, harp-playing kind of angel. After discovering she’s actually an Archangel, Jade Blackwell has to become the fierce warrior she is meant to be. First, she must Ascend by surviving a variety of trials in a treacherous labyrinth. Only then will she regain all her memories and be given control of her gifts. And she’ll need both to become one of Heaven’s most … Heaven’s most elite and holy of fighters.
Hell is raising an army, and with the veil separating worlds now practically nonexistent, time is not on her side. Jade must look deep into her past to move forward, but she soon realizes that her life before dying and becoming a reaper is not the life she’d hope to find.
Beating the maze means facing her worst fears, her greatest weaknesses, and most importantly, the truth. At the end, Jade must leave everything behind and sacrifice the one thing her heart desires in order to truly win. But can she do it?
If she doesn’t succeed, there is no second chance.

Death Match by Harper A. Brooks is such an awesome story that I have read. This is book number three in this awesome series that I have loved reading with it awesome characters and story line. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy and paranormal romances.

Where to begin is the question. We see Jade going through so much in a short time. It packed with new and painful moments. It has some beauty as it progresses as well. It is addicting as you are unable to put it down as you need to know how it is going to end. It is stunningly written and there are parts that are darker but the are very tastefully developed. The journey for Jade is one that requires all her strength both mentally and physically. It does end in a cliffhanger and boy is it a doozy. This series is a must read and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

This was a good book. Lots of back story and character development in this one. We get to find out who Jade really is, right along side her. She goes through a ton of trials literal and figurative and comes out much more whole. You really need to start at the beginning of this series to appreciate it in it’s entirety.
The Trials!
.
Heaven is nothing like Jade imagined it was going be. Eli keeps assuring her things will be much different once she Ascends. Of course, she has to meet her new boss, Michael, and pass the Trials before that will happen. If she actually manages to Ascend, then all she has to do is lead the Archangels in the war against Hell’s army!
This series is definitely an entirely new version of heaven, hell, and everything in between; packaged neatly into paranormal perfection. I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.
Our heroine thought she was a reaper, but recent revelations have shown she is much more. Now she has to learn to embrace her past to stop the armies of Hell.
This is book three of the series. It works okay as a standalone, but the series is much more enjoyable if read in order.
This is an urban fantasy story. The story is very well written and easy to read, with a well detailed world that is fascinating to explore and gets more detailed with each book. The characters are also well developed and continue to grow through the series which is a big plus for me. The plot is still complex and involves mysteries, intrigue and lots of twists and turns which keep you guessing and turning the page to see what comes next. Overall, a highly enjoyable story and I continue to look forward to the next book in the series.
Highly recommended.

Jade is so close to getting her memories back but the trials she has been avoiding need to be done and I totally get her reluctance to do them as everything is going to get really real once she has completed the trials and you know no pressure or anything to do them! This definitely has plenty of highs and lows, twist, surprises and when you learn how Jade died well wow, yeah wow and if that doesn’t knock you sideways enough, wait till the way it ends! Oh my geezies I need the next book!!!

Death Match, by Harper A Brooks, is her third entry in her Reaper Reborn Series. And she’s at it again.
So much is happening in this book. I mean a lot! I felt like a twist was coming… coming… right there…AND BAM! It was NOTHING I was guessing it was. IT WAS MORE!
Jade’s in Heaven with Eli, then she goes walkabout, then she’s hit with some truth bombs that really make her think. She learns a few things about herself, she loses a few memories, then it’s time to Ascend. Believe me when I say this may be book 3, but in my view, Jade’s story is just starting.
Again, consistency in the world she’s built, and the characters she’s shaping, leads Ms. Brooks straight to another 5 star read!
I really loved reading Death Match. The storyline and characters are well written and developed. A really great series. Harper A. Brooks is a great author. I definitely recommend reading. (I received this book as an arc and am leaving a voluntary honest review)
The author has taken time during the series to build the characters and the storyline. It is not rushed and you feel invested in the series. I really enjoy the twists that come along with the story and in this third book you get information that has been withheld from her and from the reader. The story unfolds in very interesting directions.

Jade Blackwell is an angel… a real, honest to God, angel. No longer locked into the reaper cycle, Jade is finally where she was always meant to be…. in Heaven… with her guardian angel lover Eli and the archangel Michael. Yeah, things are finally looking up for Jade… or are they? Jade needs to face and conquer the Trials to regain her memories and her powers; Jade knows this but is hesitant to try. She just wants a chance to catch her breath… but alas, her wishes won’t be granted.. not this time…
“You keep saying you understand, but how could you? To have everything you are ripped away from you? To feel an emptiness inside every day of your afterlife, knowing there was more waiting for you but never being able to find it? Then to be told you’re supposed to be something greater than you could ever imagine? That the universe and all of creation is depending on you?” – Jade
Jade just wanted… no, NEEDED… to see her friends one more time before undergoing her Trials and being swept up in heavenly machinations. Against Eli’s advice, Jade makes a trip to Earth…. and comes face to face with Cole…
Realizing the veil between dimensions is rapidly thinning and left with no choice, Jade returns to Heaven and seeks out Michael, to start her Trials. She must endure and overcome all obstacles, or Earth is doomed…
“What I wouldn’t give to have my boring afterlife back, with my crappy job, college dorm sized apartment, and not a care in the world. I had wanted change, imperfection, and excitement. Like in the living world. With this angel business, I’d gotten that in spades.” – Jade
Undergoing the Trials was nothing like Jade expected. Everything she thought she knew was incorrect or turned inside out. Regaining her memories and her powers was paramount, and yet… Jade must face and overcome her gravest fears… and deepest, most hidden desires…
Riveting! You won’t be able to put this one down! I read it through in one sitting, careening from one crisis to the next. The finale blew me away! Can’t WAIT to see what Jade Blackwell does next!
I quite enjoyed the first two books in this series, actually quite a lot. I am always a little leery as a series goes on because it can go two ways: off into the weeds or gets better and better. So you’ll understand when I picked up this third book, I was wondering where it was going to head. As I read, I was pleased to see it was just as enjoyable as the first two, great characters, well-written, and engrossing plot. I kept feeling this underlying tension, good tension, and kept reading. I have my personal feelings about Jade’s love interest, which I don’t want to say too much and spoil things, and I will say I have more hope. But, back to the book, we learn, a little at a time, about Jade’s past, and the tension kept ratcheting up. By close to the end, I was frantically “turning” the pages to see what was going to happen. And, boom, it hit. What did? Read it to find out; this book was fabulous, and now I don’t know how I’m going to be able to wait for the next one! Very highly recommend! I was provided a copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
