Interesting but very slow
This book reminded me somewhat of the BBC series Midsomer Murders so the UK setting and language was somewhat familiar. I thoroughly enjoyed this book — different than I normally read but I would definitely read the next book.
Charming.
It was a dry read. Sometimes less detail is better
A great quick read
The Whickenham Murders kept me guessing to the end. It was entertaining.
Well written and great characters. I will definitely look for more in this series.
Interesting concept: revisiting old cases and basing books on the “revisiting”
This was a good read, truly made better when read on my Kindle for on the spot lookups of British phrases and history. The concept of ghost fingerprints is well conceived to create an appetite for the next in the series.
My complaint is inconsistent and I believe inaccurate OCR surrounding “Olly” vs “Oily” – this made me crazy.
I had a hard time caring about any of the characters, and the story twists made it harder. I liked it enough to finish reading it but not to ever read it again.
A step back into time
Slow going unwinding the tale..
I loved it. If you like action packed thrillers, this is not it. Unravelling an old murder tends to be slow paced. The characters are great. The story is good. The setting in an old English village atmospheric and interesting. If you like following clues to solve a puzzle, you will enjoy this.
Didn’t really like it
I really enjoyed reading this book. Not your usual plot or storyline, but believable, gentle pace with a satisfying end!
Learned how much effort it takes to solve a crime from the past and keep aware of the present. Clever plot.
I really enjoyed this book. Great characters and plot twists, although I did figure out some of it.
Too wordy!
I love a good mystery, and this series is a favorite.
