Like Father Like SonI said good-bye to my son. But he had one final request—a letter I’ll never forget.Dear Dad,If you’re reading this, it means I’m gone. I had one dream, growing old with Holland. Death won’t stop me from providing for my wife. And because you’re the best man I know, what I’m about to ask—my last request—I know you’ll do. Please take care of Holland. Take her back to California … back to California with you. It’s a lot—I know. But, I’m placing my most precious possession in your hands.
Love,
Scott
But the thoughts swirling through my mind are certainly not what my late son had in mind. How do I resist this woman in front of me?
After all, you can’t choose love, it chooses you.

5 EMOTIONAL STARS!! Wow….This one starts out with a bang and what an emotional ride we take. Holland and Maguire will break your heart, but you will devour their story. Leigh Lennon delivers the goods in this beautiful heartfelt story. You definitely need this book if you are a romance lover.
Imagine being attracted to your deceased husbands father and him attracted to you, this is how it starts along with the thoughts, questions and actions that bring us to a massive cliffhanger that has me demanding book 2!
Gotta admit that when I read the book’s title and blurb I just had to read this book. Maguire loses his son and honors his last wishes to take care of his young wife. Holland is lost without her husband, alone in the world she decides to take her father-in-law up on his offer of a home and job. As they get to know one another, she is drawn to the man who not only resembles her dead husband in looks and personality but in every other little detail. Maguire a self proclaimed bachelor after his divorce finds himself attracted to his quirky daughter-in-law. Fighting it tooth and nail but unable to get over it. This book ends on a major cliffhanger and has me dying to know how these two get their long suffering happily ever after.
This is the first book of a duet,so be prepared for an ending that will leave your jaw on the floor,I am still in shock after finishing this last night.
I really enjoyed reading this slow burn, forbidden, age gap Romance,it will keep you flipping those pages wondering what will happen between Maguire and Holland. They are brought together by the tragic death of Scott ,Maguire’s Son and Holland’s Husband. They are united in their grief and soon become friends.
But when stronger feelings start to develop and change to Love it takes everything to try to keep their new awareness of eachother hidden from one another and from the people around them.
This is an emotionally compelling read that had me so intrigued by this relationship that was playing out before my eyes…a story of loss, and a story about the fact you cant control who you fall in Love with No matter how wrong you think it is.But that maybe just maybe this new found love could heal them both….Oh but that ending…!!!!!
Anyway I highly recommend this Fantastic taboo story,Its an AMAZING book,go and get it and find out for yourself.
Okay, so the story moves quickly, which is actually good because it really doesn’t do much building. I’m hoping in the next half we get some character building and/or relationship building for both the leads. This book just read like a set-up to the next, if that makes sense.
There’s no real romance … yet. I assume that there will be based on the book’s description, but it really hasn’t happened yet. That’s both a positive and negative. I mean, I’m invested, so of course I’m going to pick up the next book and see how it goes, but I’m also one of those people that no matter what, I have to finish. I’m not sure if this book holds enough enthusiasm for readers to pick up the next half. It’s really hard to describe, but as the story builds, it doesn’t make you anticipate, so it just falls flat. I don’t know, we’ll see how it all pans out after the duet is done.
Also, it should be noted that I got this copy a while ago and there could have been some plot updates done that I am not aware of at this time so …. solid 3.5 stars but not enough to bump it to 4 so 3 it is, from me so far.
I know this is suppose to be a “taboo” read between and father-in-law and his dead sons daughter. Throughout the book I didn’t feel and real romantic connection between the two main characters. To me it felt more like a friendship than a forbidden love between Holland and Maguire. It seems like Maguire is more of a caregiver and just wants to honor his dead sons wishes.
I did love the chemistry they had has friends and I’m hoping in the next book I’ll get more of that loving feeling.
This book does leave you on a cliffhanger so be prepared for that.
A heart wrenching, forbidden love. The writer draws you in and leads you on a slow burn journey with all the feels. You can’t help but hurt for them for the loss they both feel, and for the conflicted emotions they face. I definitely recommend this. I’m excited to see where this journey ultimately takes them!
