Uprooting my life, buying a cabin that was all but falling apart, and moving to the middle of the woods might not have sounded like the best idea, but to me it was almost perfection. I guess that’s the perks of being an author … packing up and moving to anywhere in the world, because as long as I had a laptop, I was good to go. What I didn’t expect during this new start was the man I’d hired to … man I’d hired to renovate my place—Asher, the bear shifting carpenter. He had me feeling things I’d never experienced before; things that excited, but scared, me.
Lust, desire, and all kinds of filth a girl like me probably shouldn’t be thinking about a man I didn’t even know, played on repeat in my head.
But there was more than just arousal where Asher was concerned. I knew it in my heart.
Here I was, in my twenties, never been with a man in any way, and all I could think about were these obscene things that made a certified virgin like me blush. And when Asher showed up on my doorstep during a storm, soaking wet, looking feral, telling me he’d tried to stay away but couldn’t, I knew one thing for certain. These weren’t just idle feelings I was having.
This was what it felt like to be mated.

Restoring his heart
I just love this family of bear shifters! Each brother is more wild and alpha male than the last. The author keeps the stories short and intense, a quick read that sucks you right into the heart, and heat, of the mating. Asher and Ainsley were drawn to each other and the HEA they could only find with their fated mating. I can’t wait to see which brother finds his destiny next!
I really enjoy this series
Asher has given up on finding his mate and decided to just go on with his life and continue with his Restoration Business he started. He has grown bitter and resentful watching his brothers find there happiness, while he becomes more isolated.
Ainsley just purchase a old cabin and moved back to a small town she once lived in when she was younger. She always knew one day she will move back, and that time has finally arrived. She knew her place needed restoration work done and there was only one company she knew she wanted to hire..
Asher realizing Ainsley is his mate he surprised he finally found her, but nervous and both to sure what to do. He tries to hold off meeting with her fighting his feelings and delay the inevitable. Not able to hold off long a big storm happens and Asher knows he needs to be with his mate.
A Satisfyingly Grumbly Yet Vulnerable Alpha… “The BEARly Reluctant Grizzly” is the fourth installment in Jenika Snow’s, Bear Clan series. It’s the mating story of Asher and Ainsley, the oldest of the bear clan brothers and an author starting over in her newly purchased cabin in the woods. And unlike the last two books of this series which featured gentler, more patient mountain dwelling brothers, this installment is a blessed return to the more gruff and grumbly alpha of the first.
Here, Snow focuses on Asher, the oldest of the brothers, who has grown resentful after watching three of his brothers find their mates before him. Brooding and pessimistic he has given up and resigned himself to a life of solitude. So resigned is Asher, that when fate finally presents itself, he doesn’t know what to do. It’s the first time I’ve seen such hesitation in a bear brother within the series and it was an interesting twist to the over confident alpha shifters I’ve come to expect from Snow.
That added bit of vulnerability along with a female lead more secure in the mating bond made for a wonderfully interesting tale. Far more interesting and emotionally complex than the more mild mannered, Oli of book 3.
And while I’m still slightly missing the higher level of rougher-edged, aggression I’ve come to love in other Jenika Snow stories. Her stories never really disappoint and this one will most certainly more than satisfy.
A BEARy reluctant grizzly
Asher has grumpily accepted that he might never find his mate, which is something every shifter fears…finding that one person that completes you. When he receives a call about a renovation for an Ainsley…his bear and him sit up and take notice
A good short story and I really liked the epilogues
