I had my entire life in my hands until fate laughed in my face and tore it away. I let myself go to a dark place that consumes me and threatens to never let me go. Until I hit rock bottom. With nothing left to lose, I claw my way into the light with the help of friends, family, and soothed by the sweet, sweet buzzing of Fox’s needles inking my skin. My name is Allie Stevens and this is how I came … Allie Stevens and this is how I came to be the new me.
*Being Allie is book one in the Allie & Fox duet. It ends on a cliffhanger and their story will be resolved in book two, Loving Fox.

Being Allie
This books is painful, it’s heartbreaking, gut wrenching. The amount of pain she’s going through is not or will ever go away, everyone is hurting for Allie, they’re just waiting for her to say “help”. You didn’t an amazing job author Lynne Leslie
Emotional and powerful ride
Being Allie is the first book I have read by Lynne Leslie so I was not familiar with the characters in the Skullz Ink series, as this is the fourth book in it. As I had not read the previous books I was not sure if I would miss a lot, as you can never tell how intertwined story-lines and characters can be written in a series. While I do fell like I missed some background to Allie’s story it was still a hard book to get through due to her story. The woman has been through so much in her life and you begin to wonder whether she will come out the other side. If she does then how will she be, as there will most definitely be deep scars.
I found the story to be really well written with a lot of things happening. But the attraction and then bond that Allie and Fox develop is really nice. However, Allie still struggles so if she wants to come out the other side and really live she will have to find the strength to fight for it while moving on.
Be warned that this book does end on a cliffhanger so you will need to read Loving Fox to find out what happens between Allie and Fox.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Allie has been through a terrible time in her life. She’s been an addict and other things. She meets Liam at a bar and things are good between them. Then a tragic thing occurs and Allie ends up on a downward spiral. Fox is there as a good friend through all of Allie’s problems. Will Allie be able to come out on the other side? Ends in a cliffhanger but the next book is available now.
This book has very well developed characters and a heartbreaking storyline. The author takes us on an emotional journey through Allie’s addiction, depression and loneliness. Allie and Fox have this undeniable connection and chemistry. Will it all be too much for Allie? Will she let her demons overtake her? I can’t wait for the second part of the duet!!
A wonderful story about resilience and hope. Allie goes down a very dark path of addiction, loneliness and depression. She has a friend who sticks by her and refuses to give up on her. With the help of this friend she finds the strength to try and climb out of the darkness that she finds herself in.

Holy cow. WOW. This one is the first I read from this writer and the first one in this series I read. I had a rough time getting through this one without either crying or screaming at the top of my lungs. This was emotional, heart wrenching, gut wrenching, blew me away. Lynne Leslie pulls you in, grips you, tears you apart, breaks you in two, puts you back together kindof and tears you apart again. So many different emotions while reading this one.
Allie first meets Liam. They meet at the bar where she works. But she sees him leave every night with a different girl so she doesn’t give in to her feelings for him. But then she decides to give in to those feelings and her life takes a complete change. Allie and Liam are the love story that everyone wants. Things between them only seem to be getting better and better as the days go by. But then something happens. Allie is not the same after that.
That is when the story takes you down a rough and emotional road. Heart wrenching, gut wrenching emotional rollercoaster watching Allie deal with what is happening in her life. Lynne wrote this so amazingly you can easily feel what Allie is feeling. You can feel what she is going through. I love that in a book. It makes for a good book.
You are taken on quite the ride with Allie but how will she come out on the other side? Will she come out on the other side in one piece? Who will she have still in her life when she hits rock bottom? This was such an intense emotional storyline. I cant wait to read the rest in the series.
It has been a while since I read the last Skullz Ink book but you get slammed back into there world quickly and even though you know what is going to happen it does not stop the tears and grief you feel for Allie. This books is full of emotions that will push and pull at your heart and make you want to jump in and shake Allie and make Fox do more, you will feel the love and loss as well as hopelessness that Allie goes through and when you get to the end you will curse the sky for having to wait for the next book lol
This is a very intriguing story I just couldn’t put it down until it was finished. I really liked this book, it has a great twist to it that I haven’t read before.

If you have been along for the ride and read all of the books in this series you know you are about to experience a woman shredded. If you haven’t it’s ok since each of these books can be red as a standalone but be warned you are cheating yourself. While each of these stories was written by this author know that in each one her characters have your emotions all over the place but none will gut you like Allie’s story. Ms Leslie is a sadist and takes us through the tunnel of grief Allie is so lost in and makes you feel her pain. The deep pain of loss, the anger, the betrayal, the deep anguish of not only one loss but two. The journey Allie takes to keep the pain at bay isn’t the easy route. She will hit bottom and take you with her. You will be captured from the first page, you wont throw your kindle because you can’t bare to be away from the story that long. But you know something she doesn’t know. She will never be alone because this author will draw you in until you become Allie and you like Fox won’t breathe until she does. This isn’t a easy or pretty story so prepare yourself, you have been warned.
This is a gut wrenching story with Allie battling loneliness, depression and addiction. The author does a beautiful job bringing the story to life with her descriptive writing and detailed scenes. You can feel the emotions pouring from the pages. Her characters and story line are so realistic you can feel their pain, love and support for Allie. I was captured and held fast from start to finish reading Allie and Fox’s story. I highly recommend this book.

ROUGH RAW INTENSE
A emotional struggle with words. A read that is impossible not to feel let alone see every beautifully written word as it sinks into the depths of your mind and flashes with vivid reality before your eyes engulfing your heart. This story is well captured and refuses to lease the gripping hold making me want more. A frantic storm of emotions that excites, depresses, angers and rips your heart out all while chewing you up and spitting you out making me desperate for more riding the edge turning the pages as quickly as my surroundings allow. I loved every rough raw word and don’t hesitate on recommending this brilliant read to others.
This is Book 4 in the Skullz Ink Series but can be read as a standalone. Being Allie is Part 1 of the Allie and Fox duet. Lynne Leslie will pull on your heartstrings throughout the book. You will feel every emotion written as you follow Allie’s journey through her anger, sadness, depression and addiction.
Allie and Fox have a connection that is undeniable. You can sense all the hurt and all the devastation surrounding the characters as they all try to get through to Allie.
This story is raw and so real. It is heartbreakingly beautiful. Lynne Leslie will have you captivated from the very beginning and will have you in all the feels. This is a must read book!
If you read the first book in this series you know the devastation brought on in a house one night and Liam’s leaving Allie. This story starts before that night and Ms. Leslie writes a world of hurt and pain and anger that weaves its way into our hearts until there is nothing left to give or feel – read, ugly crying. Believe me, you do not want to read this story before you need to be somewhere. It haunts you (like the first book) and you cannot let it leave, just like Allie. She is so lonely and overwhelmed that she cannot function. Which is where Fox steps in and he is an outstanding friend who is patient and kind. When Allie finally gets around to pulling herself a little bit together will Fox be there to hold her one more time?
These characters speak to you and you become part of their family – Skullz Ink!
