Hot romance with mystery and life saving action too.
Standalone with no cliffhangers, plus a great epilogue.
Hunter is in Alaska on a job, that job just got harder along with parts of him. Petra is an unexpected delight and complication. Can he keep his hands off of her and keep her safe?
Petra is ready for her last year at college and didn’t want to spend this summer with her uncle in Alaska. Hunter is making her boredom disappear, buts what’s up with her uncle being so wierd this summer and is Hunter using her or falling like she is?
I listened to this on audiobook, very well done.
A standalone steamy, hot, wonderful read. Its entertaining and fun to read. I enjoyed it.
Her Wild Coast Outlaw is an exciting and thrilling story; covering the meeting and romance of Petra and Hunter. He is a trained killer, she a neglected young girl who he needs to protect. Non-stop action both in and out of bed. Unlike some sexy stories, HWCO has an intriguing fast-paced action backdrop that will keep you reading.
This is a wonderful love story between Petra & Hunter, an ex SEAL, who although just met they can’t get enough of each other & it’s more than just the sexual chemistry they have going on. Things get complicated when Hunter tells her that he is investigating her Uncle Gary who is dodgy, stealing money & owes money to some dangerous men, then she gets kidnapped by the men her uncle ows the money to be Hunter saves her & they sail off on his boat together for the start of their new life full of adventure. I loved this story & although there was a lot going on I didn’t want it to end, I can’t get enough of Dakota’s stories.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Petra and Hunter. He’s an ex seal on a mission to take down the bad guys. He’s in Alaska looking for information on Gary, Petra’s uncle. Petra is between semesters at school and is working at her uncle’s shop. The sparks for when they meet. When her life is in danger, Hunter will do anything to protect her. A great HEA in the end.

Hunter, who has a military background, agrees to help his buddy work undercover on the dock project to see what’s really going on. Petra has to spend the summer with her uncle. The chemistry between Hunter and Petra is relationship is out of this world. Hunter knows that he should stay away from her but he just can’t. As the danger increases he needs to be able to keep Petra safe or she’ll get caught in the crossfire. This is the start of a new series and is hot and steamy. This was a first time author for us and we have to say the although we didn’t love it we didn’t hate it.This story was just an okay read for us as there were parts that were good like the hot sexy scenes between the characters that were hot but, I just felt no chemistry between the two characters Hunter and Petra. The story surrounding the romance part was just down right boring and predictable.
Petra’s character for me felt almost child like and this is one of the reasons we just never clicked .
Hunter on the other hand we enjoyed the sexy man who could be deadly when he wanted to but, most of the time was just down right sweet.
Overall this was and okay read for us one of those reasons was I just did not feel the chemistry with the two main characters and although they were like-able they were not love-able and we just could not connect with them on any level.
The plot had potential but, it just fell short for us .Where was the suspense that had your heart pounding?
Would I read this author again ?
Yes! The bones of the story was there it just needed more….
Dakota Davies is a new author to me, and this short, one-sitting novel is the first in a series. The blurb sounded right in my wheelhouse, but it certainly fell below my expectations and the best I can give it is 2.5 stars.
I liked the concept of this novel, I’ll read anything with a Navy SEAL in it, but although there was plenty of steamy and explicit content (18+ for sure), there was little to no depth to this story. Hunter, the 30-something, former Navy SEAL, is attracted to 21-year-old Petra, who is spending the summer in Alaska, working at a marina mercantile owned by her uncle. She’s attracted to Hunter as well, despite his being 15 years older than she, and while I have no problem with May-December romances, there is no attempt made to go beyond their physical attraction to one another. There’s very little give and take in this relationship, they barely even converse. In fact, Hunter isn’t really sure she’s above the age of consent before having sex with her, and although they certainly fulfill each other’s sexual needs for 80% of the book, there’s really no relationship outside of Hunter’s bed.
When Petra’s uncle, Gary, gets in over his head with gambling debts, he endangers Petra, and even though Gary is not the real reason Hunter is assigned there, and we never learn by whom, he can’t avoid getting involved in that drama. Petra simply isn’t a well-developed character either. We know she’s got one year left in college, but she doesn’t have the first clue what she wants to do with her life career-wise. Her mother is involved with a sleazy guy who attempts to sneak into Petra’s room late one night, and when Petra learns that her mother plans to elope with the creep and sell their house, she certainly doesn’t want to return home, nor does she bother mentioning to her mother the fact that she’s marrying a sexual predator. Once again, this story had possibilities, but those possibilities were never fully explored or realized, just as we never learn who Hunter is working for now that he’s left the SEALs.
Additionally, the editing of this novel left a great deal to be desired, and I kept thinking I was reading an unedited advance reader copy rather than a finished novel. If you’re looking for a short, steamy read, this one will probably work for you, but it didn’t work for me, and although I’ll give the next novel in the series a try, I hope it will show some improvement in character and plot development as well as editing.
This is the first book I have read by Dakota Davies and thought it was a good start to the Storm Harbor series. The storyline and characters were good. Hunter wants to protect Petra but he has to get the evidence he needs. This has steamy chemistry, twists and drama. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The storyline was well written, the plot flowed effortlessly throughout the entire book and the characters were written with great detail and depth which kept me totally engaged as I turned each and every page until the very end!
This is the first book I read by this author and boy was it everything I needed today. It’s not too long and not too short but has just enough to get you hooked and be able to enjoy it in one sitting if you want. I couldn’t put it down. There’s some suspense with a lot of sexiness thrown in. I love it when Hunter immediately says, “she’s mine” and can’t get enough. Petra has enough innocence and independence that you resonate with her.
Delicious first read
—>>> Petra and Hunter notice each other on the pier where she is spending yet another summer working at the mercantile for her Uncle Gary in Alaska. A sizzling look turns into an event more sizzling encounter, but what rocks the boat in her world is not her attraction to this gorgeous outlaw, whom she cannot seem to stop thinking about, it is the fact that her family is suddenly making demands on her, and she no longer feels on solid ground about her future. Now, a warning from her uncle makes her even doubt Hunter and his intentions, so Petra does not know whether to follow her heart and believe Hunter’s words. Hunter did have plans in this neck of the woods building piers, but he did not count on meeting Petra, and she quickly becomes another reason for him to complete his job and find some way for Petra to remain by his side. A whole lot of hotness and a little bit of action in store for this couple!
Looking forward to reading more stories from this author in the future!
If you like your sex hot and steamy and your heroes down and dirty, then this book is for you. It was so hot, I thought my eReader was going to go up in flames. I would put this book as for mature audiences only. This story may be short, but it packs a punch.
Hunter is a jaded ex-Seal who thinks that he is all wrong for wanting Petra, the twenty-one year old niece of the man Hunter is investigating, but Fate doesn’t think so. One day, their eyes meet across the dock where Hunter’s boat is moored and an instant connection is felt by both of them. Later Petra brings Hunter a package and he in turn claims her as his. Read to see if their relationship can survive her crooked uncle and the goons he owes and see if their instant attraction will remain true for the long haul.
I’m glad I bought this book so that I can reread it whenever I want to up the antics in my bedroom.
A hot uber sexy read…
The age difference means nothing, the heart, mind & body dictates the destiny of the main characters. This is fabulous story by a new to me author. This book was well written with a compelling story line which featured a potentially dangerous older man & a young girl on a break from college. Instant attraction, explosive sex, a corrupt family member with his own agenda, he’s skimming funds off a build in the docks which could potentially put lives at risk due to the sub standard product. He owes money to seriously bad people. Can the hero protect the young girl who’s captured his heart?
