The Triple Play Curse Every member of the Strikers, San Francisco’s professional baseball team, knows about the Triple Play Curse. When one Striker falls in love and gets either married or engaged during the season, two more will fall for a total of three. And, whenever the curse is in play, the team suffers for it. More errors and injuries, lost pennant runs, you name it. No one wants to trigger … one wants to trigger the curse.
Shortstop Rafe Wilson has his routines down to a science. How he ties his shoes, what shirt to wear under his jersey, which foot touches the field first, and how to enter the batter’s box. It works for him. The proof is in his stats. No question; the routine works. Until it doesn’t. When Rafe is left scrambling to figure out what went wrong, he quickly finds the newest addition to his pregame routine. A kiss. And, not just any kiss. Ashlyn Daniels’ kiss to be exact. But, can he convince Ashlyn to be part of his arsenal of “superstitions” that keep his game going? Or will the pregame kiss trigger an even worse superstition?

Game Changer is book 1 in the Triple Play Curse by Lori Ryan. Each book in this series is a standalone but reading in sequence give you more insight to the “Curse” and what the players do with their superstitions and rituals.
First up is Ryan Wilson who has followed routines faithfully but something isn’t working until he goes to a barbecue with friends and he meets Ashlyn Daniels. There is something about her that draws him in and sparks fly, he’s back in sync but maybe he will be the first one to fall to the “Curse”…
This was a fun and fast read about Rafe, a baseball player who has his pregame “routines” and is playing his best year of baseball but suddenly he’s not. Then a chance meeting at a party and a kiss and BAM the next day his game is back on! Ashley, a teacher, turns into one of his pregame routines and after game they start something more. What happens when Rafe’s game starts to take a hit again? Oh my! Be careful when that pesky heart becomes involved! Oh, and watch out for the curse because when one falls two more follow. Lucky for me I have all 3 books up on my device to read. Yay me!
I love a good sports romance full of alpha men and their women that make them fall. This was a short and sizzling story. These two characters were a lot of fun and made a great couple. It seemed a little rushed but that’s to be expected in a novella. I’m looking forward to book 2 now.
Quick read about a superstitious major league baseball player & his good luck charm.
A very quick, sexy, fun and highly entertaining read! This is a short story that has it all, fun sexy charters, emotional thrills and heart pounding action. a great read from beginning to end.
Aiden Kyle is the next one to fall in the Triple Play Curse. He is going to do everything he can to avoid being the next man to fall prey to this curse. Lily Dupree falls into Aiden’s life and he’s never the same. He might fight tooth and nail to keep from falling in love but in the end he has no choice! A fun, quick read which is the second in the Triple Play Curse series by this author.
Steamy sports romance read
Ashley, a teacher, and Rafe, a major league baseball player, know each other peripherally through mutual friends. As the story progresses a bargain is made, luck may change, and failing to believe in yourself could tear it all down. Lori Ryan’s latest series promises to be steamy and bring out a new surge of readers that will appreciate sports romances. I look forward to reading the rest of the books coming out in the series.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not. This review is for the republished book.
I received an ARC copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. I am not a big fan of sports stories but this one was good. It was entertaining and a cute story. It was a quick easy read. It is worth your time and effort. I will encourage everyone to give this one a chance. Lori Ryan is always worth reading.
Game Changer was a fun, entertaining read. I liked both of the main characters and enjoyed their story. I look forward to the next in the series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a really quick read. I normally enjoy this author’s work but this one was just okay for me. For the length of the book, there was a lot of sexual scenes. It can be read on a lunch hour for a quick get-away. There could have been so much more story to this though.
Perfect Lunch Hour Read
This book was perfect to read on my lunch break with a little time to spare. It was hot and entertaining.
If you don’t mind quick reads this book is for you.
I received an advanced copy of this book. In this book, the baseball team, The Strikers, are worried about the curse that ends their seasons. If one of them falls in love, then their season will end. Shortstop Rafe Wilson has a set routine, he never changes it. Until one day it stops working. Then he goes to the party of his friends and kisses a girl. The next day he’s back to normal! Now he thinks he has to do it every time, before every game. Will she, Ashlyn, agree to his superstition? Will she think that it it will work and set him back on course? This is a great book, I highly recommend it!
I’m an avid romance reader and love a book that can make me laugh out loud. Great read. Highly recommend. Eagerly waiting for the next book
Rafe is attending a barbeque at his friend Kade’s home after having a really bad game. It’s here he comes across Ashley as he’s looking to say good-bye to his hostess Elise. She’s different than anyone he’s encountered since becoming a pro player. Not a groupie even though she does like the sport according to Kade’s wife.
Not exactly knowing why he has to, he kisses her. Then everything changes. His next game is perfect. Now he has to convince Ashley to kiss him before every game. He fails at this miserably.
Ashley confronts Elise the next day and then comes up with a plan of her own. If he messes up his game without the kiss, she’d agree but to her own terms.
Lots of heat, plenty of giggles and just plan fun as this story plays out.
I can’t wait to read the other two books in this series.
Sports professionals have superstitions???
Rafe Wilson, a sexy ball player on the Strikers team, does everything the SAME WAY every time he plays. Now, all of his rituals aren’t helping. What to do?
Ashlyn Daniels, sweet school teacher, wants to find Mr. Right but all of the men she’s been dating are not even close to being right! What to do?
When Ashlyn and Rafe kiss before a game, Rafe is soon playing some of the best ball in his life. He wants to keep up the kissing, but only because it makes him a better player! But the kissing leads to more and now Rafe and Ashlyn have to decide what to do!
This is a great read, and at novella length, takes no time to finish. There are plenty of sexy times in this read and I enjoy that! YMMV.
Grab a drink and a snack and read through your lunch hour!!
Game Changer: A Triple Play Curse: Loved how the story started. I like the repo or that the baseball and football players had. I love the characters throughout the story. It’s a great title that fits the story. It was a great connection that Rafe and Ashlyn had and the heat between them. They both needed to see what was missing from their lives. I like how Rafe felt that Ashlyn was his good luck charm. It was so good and I could not put it dow
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Game Changer . I also purchased a copy for my collection . I really enjoyed reading this delightful novella . The quirky and intertaining . Rafe Wilson is a shortstop for the Strikers . He has
routines before every game when they don’t work for him ,he tries to figure out what happened . He kisses Ashlyn Daniels a school teacher at his friends barbacue and his game is back . He convinces Ashlyn he needs her to keep his game . This story is full of funny superstitions and triggered love curses . It’s a lovely steamy sexy tale with a wonderful happy endings . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
I easily slipped in to the world of professional sports with Rafe, all of his “routines” and worries on the field. I feel him hit the first slump of his career. I struggled to figure out what he needs to do to tweak his routine back in to shape. Then he walks in to a room with Ashlyn, a woman who not only knows baseball but understands and loves it! She fascinates him.
The things is, she wants marriage, a white picket fence and she knows that the men who play sports tend to be players and not happily ever after material! She wants to know what it’s like to be the main character in her own fairy tale! Rafe is all too willing to show her!
This book was great with two of my favorite things – baseball and romance. I really enjoyed Rafe and Ashlyn and their friends and his teammates and of course, the superstitions. I really like to hear about the crazy things baseball players do especially when they’re gearing up and heading into the playoffs. These two characters are great and I loved Ashlyn with all her baseball knowledge, she was perfect for Rafe. Really enjoyed this story. The only thing I have to say is – – I want to know what happens next and will this be the season they’ll break the curse? So excited to read the next book!
Game Changer by Lori Ryan is a great start to a new series. It is a novella length read with a player, a teacher, and a pre-game ritual with a lot of zing. These characters are very likeable and draw you in immediately. Secondary characters give humor and angst to the story. I cannot wait to read their stories next. Even though novella length this book has great character development. I like how Rafe came off as a player but had a soft heart inside. He always had Ashlyn’s wants and needs first. It was great seeing Ashlyn grow from the shy school teacher to someone who could speak up for herself. Lori Ryan gives us fully fleshed characters that we can care about. Her story line grabbed me from the beginning and never waivered. I devoured this book in one sitting and cannot wait for the next in the series.
