Gabriel Gaudet is still in New Orleans, and still the Legislateur in charge of the city, now that Nic has taken Thibeau back to New York with him. Though happy for his brother, he can’t help but be jealous of Nic’s happily ever after—not jealous to the point he didn’t want his older brother to find the love he so richly deserved, but the kind of jealous where he wanted love to find him too, but … but suspected it never would. When mysterious murders involving voodoo dolls begin happening all over the Big Easy, Gabe has to track down the culprit and destroy the dark magic associated with the murders. It should be simple enough—but when was anything ever simple when it came to magic? The bloody poppet at the last murder scene leads him straight to the shop of a known warlock, but instead of finding him, he encounters a gorgeous creature who reeks of dark magic but has the smile of an angel. Things turn from simple to deadly complicated faster than Gabriel can pronounce a spell to stop it.
Marchand’s life sucks. Not only can he not find the desire to escape the cruel fiancé he’s apparently tied himself to, but he feels anchored in a world where he has zero desire to be. All that changes, though, when a mysterious, handsome and sexy man enters his boyfriend’s shop, calls himself a Legislateur, like Marchand is supposed to know what that is, and even stranger than all that, calls Marchand a vampire! He tells him the little poppets he makes for the shop have been killing people all over town and then takes him captive until he can “figure out what to do with him.”
Two powerful men are thrust into a mystery full of dark magic, gorgeous vampires, warlocks, voodoo, demons, and fallen angels, and the two have to first determine if they’re even on the same side…and if their rapidly developing feelings for one another are all too real or if they’re something they just conjured up. An evil plot to take over New Orleans and terrible danger surround them on all sides in this city where the veil is thin between this world and the next, and most especially, after dark.

Marchand is hilarious, unique and Gabriel doesn’t know what to do about him. And this makes it a really enjoyable read. Their journey is full of excitement, danger, discoveries, hotness and love. I love this series. It’s blend of of magic, action, and love is so addicting. And now more supernatural characters have been introduced in a way I never would have anticipated but works awesome with the story. And now to read book 3 to discover more great adventures.
Vangels and Wicks
We’re back in New Orleans and this time it’s Gabriel’s story. Once again power plays are happening and evil wants to rule the city. Gabriel meets Marchand during an investigation and senses something off about him but he also fascinates Gabriel and he can’t stay away.
I love, love their nicknames for each other and they tie in very nicely with the overall story. The banter between the two is fun and sexy. Gabriel is very stubborn and he frustrated me with his unwillingness to bend. Marchand’s attitude is fantastic and the scene in balcony made me laugh out loud. Oh and let’s not forget about the scenes with Gabriel’s magic combined with their sexual chemistry, they burned up the sheets!
Gabriel and Marchand’s bond unlocks something inside Marchand and well, chaos ensues. Marchand is caught in the middle and sides will be chosen. I really, really want to hurt some warlocks , but Marchand’s internal monologues cracked me up. I appreciated the nods to Romeo and Juliet, and the mystery that surrounds Marchand sucked me in from the beginning.
A fun and exciting read with twists and turns by the talented T.S. McKinney!
T.S. McKinney delivered a fast-paced, intriguing, and compelling story. This novel is definitely one that took me by surprise and kept me on my toes! The series so far has been amazing and T.S. McKinney’s contribution is genius.
The character development was very well done. I loved the dynamic between the main characters and the author made the secondary characters very realistic as well. The world building was intricate and vivid.
The storyline was engaging and I wanted even more after I finished. The author knew exactly how to elicit emotions from me because I definitely felt every bit of it. This is a skillfully done paranormal read that I couldn’t put down. I wanted every second of it.
5 stars for a captivating and skillfully written read!
I’m loving the Witches of the Big Easy. Nic got his happy ending in Hexxed by Shannon West. Now Nic’s brother Gabriel has met Marchand, a confusing being who smells like vampire mixed with something else. While Nic is afraid to trust Marchand, he can’t keep himself from believing in and falling for the beautiful man.
This book is so much fun! It is violent, sexy, humorous, and sometimes heartbreaking. New Orleans is the perfect setting for the adventures of these men who are brave, magical, and very snarky. I love Gabriel and Marchand, as well as the rest of the group that eventually forms to protect Marchand from those who want him for their own evil reasons. And I cannot wait to see what excitement shows up next in this series. Excellent!
Vampires, demons and witches…oh my! T.S. McKinney tackles all the supernatural elements in the Big Easy and turns them into one verra smexxy read that will make you Hunger for more! Loved and highly recommend this M/M paranormal romance!
