For the Bratva, retribution is the law. An eye for an eye.A tooth for a tooth. A life for a life. But the man who killed my beloved deserves a fate worse than death. He’ll live knowing his only daughter was captured by a monster… That he’s utterly powerless to stop me.Olena Baranov will be my prisoner. My retribution. My undoing. Vengeance will be mine.
This is the 3rd book of Jane Henrys that I have read. Her story of Maksym and Olena is a page turning, action packed, never saw that coming kind of book! Her ability to draw readers into the action makes this a must read! It is also a steamy, sexy, enemies to lovers story that hits all the right buttons.
After Makysm was rescued in The Bratva’s Bride, his agony did not end there. He relived his torture daily, the pain in his body, heart and soul. And then the murder of his love. Revenge was what he wanted, especially when he found out the people were one and the same. He decided that since they took his woman, he would take theirs. So he kidnapped the daughter of the head of the other Bratva. He planned on holding her captive, making her submit, and using her to make the man surrender. But events happened, plans changed, and revelations were had. This was explosives in many ways!! You must read!!!
With this third book in the series we get to revisit, Maksym, the character left broken in The Bratva’s Bride. Maksym is semi healed and looking for vengeance with the rival Thieves. Olena, daughter to Yuri, leader of the Thieves has been dragged back to Russia, and is in desparate need of a way to escape her father. The taking of Olena is easy, but the captivity leads to more than either Olena or Maksym can possibly anticipate.
This is another well written story in the series. Maksym is so tortured by his loss, he seems incapable of moving on. Olena is young, and somewhat carefree despite her circumstances. She, of course, proves to be exactly what Maksym needs.
The story flows really well and the intensity of it makes it hard to put down. The characters were definelty likeable and the author provides plenty of backstory to make connecting with them really easy. I loved the progression of Maksym through the story, as Olena makes her way into his heart. The ending was sweet and leaves me looking forward to the next book in the series.
The Innocent and The Enforcer
Professionally written and extremely fast-paced, “The Bratva’s Captive” positions two rival Bratva factions against one another, with one member seeking revenge for the murder of his woman. The story opens with the antihero or hero, Maksym being held prisoner and mercilessly tortured by a rival Bratva, “The Thieves”. Although he is rescued by his “Brother’s”, Maksym is devastated by the loss of the woman he loved and seeks revenge by capturing the rival leader’s daughter, Olena. Maksym is overcome by his need for revenge and suffers horrendous nightmares from the trauma endured at the hands of “The Thieves”. Only one positive memory survived his time in captivity, that of an “angel” who smelled like roses, with a gentle and caring touch.
Raised solely by her mother in America, the young and truly innocent Olena is spirited off to Russia by her father upon her mother’s death. Feeling like a prisoner in her father’s household, Olena knows little of her father’s business, apart from him being a Bratva leader and periodically holding men to torture in the basement. On one occasion, the screams of pain emanating from the basement, urge Olena to act and in the dark of night she brings the prisoner water, comforting him with her touch. Olena later overhears a conversation, regarding the prisoners death and disposal of the body in a river.
Still devastated by his woman’s death at the hands of “The Thieves”, Maksym is determined to callously use his beautiful captive and Olena is just as determined to remain defiant. Initially, the couple’s encounters are filled with trepidation but as their time together unfolds their chemistry explodes into blazing passion. As a dark erotic romance, Maksym’s treatment of Olena is often somewhat harsh, severe and callous but he also struggles with his feeling toward her, balancing his status as both anti-hero as well as hero. Although initially foreboding, as the plot progresses Maksym transformation is perfectly paced and convincing. Olena does not truly fear Maksym but is wary of him nonetheless and often speaks impulsively, reinforcing Maksym callous treatment. Olena is a sympathetic character due to her innocence, strength and intelligence. From their first meeting, Olena thoughts and actions are realistic, finding him extremely attractive as well as somewhat charming but fully aware of his sinister edge.
Brimming with mystery as well as suspense, “The Bratva’s Captive” is rife with twists and turns, captivating the reader from the first page to the very last. The characterizations are in-depth with ample background information, providing rational explanations for their thoughts, emotions and actions. The story is conveyed from dual POV and reads as a standalone novel. Overall, “The Bratva’s Captive” is a fantastic addition to the Wicked Doms series, highly engaging and entertaining as well as scorching hot!

*** I voluntarily received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review***
Maksym has been through so much at the hands of a rival Bratva. He decides to take Olena, the daughter of the rival Bratva’s leader to even the score. He didn’t count on how she would make him feel and her own scars from that life. Olena is a young woman but has been through much because of her father. I liked that she was fiesty and willing to fight. She can’t resist Maksym with his seduction of her. A good read and with a really sweet ending.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
Lost my heart to the Bratva. I realize we are not supposed to like members of the Bratva…after all they are involved in illegal activities… But this author creates characters that reach into your chest, rip out your heart, bring you to your knees, and make you love them in spite of their flaws. This book was even more emotionally driven and wrecked me from the start, falling head first into the darkness that is their world and praying for some glimmer of hope that there was a way out. Breath taking, sizzling goodness in a series that will hold you in its grasp and have you on the edge of your seat. Fabulous five star read.
Epic Bratva love story!
A man tortured in more ways than just physical, loses his heart and seeks revenge. The weapon of choice for his revenge is Olena. Kidnapped, disciplined, humiliated, taken and used she and Maksym have a contentious, heated, dominant-submissive, captor-prisoner relationship.
Theirs is a story of revenge, danger, action, traitors, bloodshed, one step forward and two back in this dance of heat, chemistry and revenge.
Dark, erotic, compelling, intruiging and addictive this is by far my favorite book by Ms. Henry!it!
I enjoy being pulled into the life of the Bratva. I always found the life of groups like the Bratva fascinating. This strong alpha with a heart that loves hard reaches and takes your heart and soul as his captive. Maksym makes me wish that I was his captive. I can never get enough of these men, and the strong women that they fall head over heals for.
Just when I think that I have found a favorite, these Wicked Doms keep getting better and better! Each book stands alone however they are much better if read in order. After The Bratva’s Bride, we knew that Maksym would be getting his story and this one does not disappoint. The Bratva have been searching for the enemy that took Maksym captive, tortured him, and killed someone that he loved. He now plans to exact retribution by kidnapping the daughter of his rival and trading her life only for his. Olena knows her father is a bad, dangerous man but she keeps to herself and hopes to stay far from the life of the Bratva. Sadly there is no escape and she is used as a pawn. Or will she be used? Will Maksym open his heart and see the love and kindness that she has to offer and accept it to repair his broken heart and mind? If you want to know then you need to read this steamy tale of love and vengeance. It’s told from dual POV and it is steamy with a capital S!
One word. Amazing! I love the damaged but, not repairable Maksym for the man he was and the man he is. Action, intense, intrigue, steamy and so good.
Maksyn suffers abduction and torture from a sector of the Russian Bratva called the Thieves before he is rescued by his own Bratva brothers. He recovers slowly, with much pain. But all his suffering mutes into near nothing when he discovers his women, his love, had been murdered in his place. That is when he decides to capture and use the daughter of his enemy for retribution.
There is no need to explain this story and how Maksyn and Olena interact. What is necessary is to tell you it made me feel involved, caring and electrified. It had punishments meant to demand Olena’s obedience and, more importantly, to keep her safe. It was filled with erotic enticements that made my heart palpitate.
This is a beautifully written, fascinating story that took me into the lives of the Bratva and the allegiance and loyalty they share. I loved the way Maksyn and Olena worked their way through difficulties, and I wanted it to never end.
Great story, excellent writing, made me happy to read more of the Bratva with the wounded and revenge driven Maksym, taking his tormenter’s daughter Olena captive. Yuri, the leader of the Thieves has murdered Maksym’s lover Taya and Maksym won’t rest until Yuri is dead. Olena is Maksym’s captive but not a victim of his, she’s been treated badly before she ever met Maksym. There is other danger to be wary of, someone has betrayed the Bratva and will have to pay the price. Olena and Maksym have what appears to be a love, hate relationship. She is the captive only because she is Yuri’s daughter. I loved the back and forth between Olena and Maksym they really tried to be captive/captor, but there was more happening between them and danger all around. Jane Henry did and excellent job of writing this story and I won’t even try to tell a shorter version of it, just know it will keep you turning the pages to see how each scenario works out, who is loyal and trustworthy and who isn’t. There are many unexpected turns and twists and some hearts get involved in spite of the situation that isn’t really the setting for such things. I loved this book and towards the end, will blow you away.
My hands were sweating as I read this book. The suspense is intense. There were pages I struggled to get through. But those pages were needed to help understand Maksym’s character. Maksym is a tortured soul. His character has so much depth that I found myself routing for him. Olena is one tough girl. She takes everything Maksym has to give and still wants more. Olena is complex, it was hard to figure out where her loyalties were at times. There are so.many surprises in this story, every page turn brought more excitement. Those hot, sexy scenes lit my Kindle on fire. (maybe that is why my hands were sweating!). This is so much more than dark, so much more than romantic suspense; this story is a love story of two people who should have never been together, yet they fit perfectly as one. Jane Henry writes a Romeo and Juliette story in the dark world of the Russian Mafia and delivers us one of her best works!! I love the Bratva Series and cannot wait for the next one!
“Bratva’s Captive” is currently my favorite book in Jane Henry’s Wicked Doms series. It had the right level of dark romance (not too dark or light) coupled with suspense, romance, and storytelling to make this a great page-turner. Likes: One of the things I enjoy with a series is getting to revisit other characters from previous books, even briefly, and we definitely got that this time. I enjoyed the pace of the story—there’s a lot going on and Ms. Henry kept the action moving. The romantic (and that e-word) elements were swoony. I was reading while trying to follow along with a podcast and quickly figured out that I was ignoring everything in favor of the story (definitely an attention holder). Dislike: Hard to put this here without revealing a spoiler, but will we find out why the bad guy (not the main bad guy, the other one) did what he did? I needs to know the answer! Overall, this story ticked off everything I enjoy in a story like this – wicked, delicious, suspenseful, and darkish.
I was blown away by Makysmm and Olena’s story. I was totally captivated by the storyline and characters. It drew me in and held me completely transfixed in the story. It took me on an emotional journey that completely gutted me. Twist and turns that had me spellbound throughout the entire book. I couldn’t get enough. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a stunning read
I loved this! I’d say it’s probably the darkest (and sexiest!) in the series and that is perfectly fine with me! I definitely recommend it!
This was fantastic with so much emotion and feelings oh how I loved Maksym he just captures every part of you and still is so broken and out for revenge and his sites are on Taya the daughter of the most dangerous Pakkan an oh boy does she test him at every turn. There is danger everywhere and action packed as these broken beautiful characters are so beautiful together and so strong willed and I loved every word
Olena’s life has been uprooted because of her father and now she’s a pawn in this act of revenge.
Maksym has lost what’s most precious to him and he will do everything to make those responsible pay.
These two take us on one seriously intense ride. They are two broken individuals who come together and strengthen each other. He’s softer than he wants to admit, and she’s a whole lot stronger than even she realizes.
I love the 2 previous Bratva Doms, no surprise that I love this one as well!
A great read!! Once again Jane Henry has brought the Russian Mob to life in all its bloody gore. This was an excellent story and once I started reading it I couldn’t stop til the last page!! Gut wrenching and steamy all in the same cover. I was thrilled!!
