Whatever you do, don’t fall in love. When Whitley winds up on the top of a pirate hit-list, she finds an unlikely savior. Bluff, a pirate who can transform his appearance to mimic anyone, sweeps her away from her high society life, mid waltz, and sneaks her onto his ship to avoid capture. But Bluff has his own reasons to ensure her safety and he has no intention of letting Whitley in on his … intention of letting Whitley in on his secrets. Pirates and sirens alike are after the subject of the prophecy, and it’s only a matter of time until Whitley learns just how powerful she is. And just how much control she has over Bluff.
Resisting fate is never easy. Resisting Whitley will be near impossible. But if he fails, it could mean his own enslavement by sirens, or worse—by the very girl he saved.

I haven’t read a pirate/sea adventure for a while, and it was exciting to read this one! I was offered a digital copy from the author, this does not affect my review. I loved the tone of this story, so atmospheric and it fit well with the story, full of romance, action, adventure, and fantasy elements, everything I need in a good seaside story! I’m excited that this is the first in the series, as I can’t wait to spend more time in this series!
From the start, I knew I was in for a treat with this book, and I loved every minute of it! I loved Bluff and Whitley’s personalities, as well as the all the others that they encounter on their journey. The crew of The Freedom were each unique and interesting, and I loved Rosemera’s character! The lore is always fun, especially in a pirate tale, but this one has an added twist with Bluff’s connection, and it also leads the story as Whitley’s life is quickly thrown into chaos as a prophecy has her running from both friend and foe as she struggled to find the truth, and who to trust, in a less than proper setting with anything but honest characters all around!
Book received from author. Voluntarily reviewing and all opinions are objective and my own.
What a unique concept! Son of a siren who can shapeshift…this book is just plain fun! Much of my enjoyment is the author’s unique take on fantasy and her inclusion of creatures not often seen in books, let alone with the take she did. The sirens are not the focus of the series (yet), but they do play a part in more than just his lineage.
Whitley and Bluff are great characters – together and apart. Whitley knows what she wants in life, and especially what she does not want. She’s put into multiple horrible situations, but finds her way through. Besides the shapeshifting ability, Bluff is a great character too. Although scared of the prophecy, and much of his actions are based on such, he always figures it out.
Although the romance aspect built quickly, it worked and made sense for the story. I also wouldn’t call it insta-love and maybe that’s why I’m so okay with it. Even Bluff comments on how love shouldn’t happen this quick but it did and will. I just love how he is with her.
This book is full of pirate aventures, from the very start. On a ship…captured…stuck on an island…you name it, this book does it. My only critique of this book was the end. A lot happened in a short amount of time focusing on magical elements, but I’m not 100% sure I understood or got it all, despite going back and reading it again. I feel it could have been a bit clearer of an image but I’m hoping that come book 2, it’ll make more sense.
All in all, very great start to a unique series and I can’t wait to get to book 2.
It was the cover that drew me to this book, but it was the story that kept me interested. You can never go wrong with fantasy sprinkled with romance. Well, that is not necessarily true, but “Sea of Treason” is a fantasy and romance reader’s happy place.
The first book in the Pirate’s Bluff series it does end on a cliff-hanger so I will be reading the next book to see what is going to happen. So far it is a good story that kept me turning pages. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
That small bit of fantasy.
Wow, this was an amazing read the characters, the storyline and the wonderful twists made this one grand read. There was excitement and adventure a true swashbuckling pirate story and a wonderful romance. I cannot wait until I can read more of this series! I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
