I see dead people…but I’m in big trouble when I become a ghost myself.I’m Winter Whitethorne, psychic medium, and I find it easier to get along with the dead than the living. I’ve perfected invisibility spells so I can ‘ghost’ humans I don’t particularly like. Haunted by spirits who refuse to cross over, I struggle to act “normal” and not give into the bad luck that clings to me as deftly as my … deftly as my ghostly hitchhikers.
When my boyfriend, Ronan, is attacked three days before Yule, leaving him in a magickal coma, I accidentally discover my destiny is far bigger than talking to dead people. Not only can I reach across the veil and communicate with them, I have the ability to raise them and change the very fabric of the world. There’s no invisibility spell that’s going to solve that problem.
With my ghost cat familiar, Shade, as well as Persephone, a snarky new spirit guide who has a thing for ’70s sitcoms, I embark on a journey to return Ronan’s spirit to his body and stop a magickal disaster prophesied to take place on Yule.
But can I save my one true love and fix magick when I, too, end up a ghost?

A solid ending to a fun series!
Winter’s book wraps up the story of the Sister Witches of Raven Falls series with quite a punch! (No worries, though–author notes at the end tell us that there will be a new series in the universe next year, following Winter’s friend Asa :)) This one isn’t really the series book to start with–the events of each book build upon the others, and the many series threads get wrapped up nicely here–but since they’re all novellas, getting up to speed shouldn’t take you that long 🙂
Like the others in the series, Winter’s story is heavier on the sisters’ relationships and their struggles with the supernatural mystery than her romance, which is sweet but definitely not center stage here. As the family member who “can see dead people,” her book not only features the sisters and their familiars, but a whole host of spiritual characters as well, which adds a whole lot of fun. Plus, it’s a Christmas/Yule-timed story, which *almost* had me missing the snow that mostly melted away last week. 😉
Don’t forget the recipes at the end–at least two of which are cookies I’m definitely going to try soon!

4.5 Stars
This is the final book in the series and boy was it a good one. Right in the beginning this book had me gasping and my heart stopping. All the questions get answered. The big moment that has been building through out the series comes to a head. This book will keep you on edge of your seat. This is a must read.
I have loved all of the books in the Sister Witches of Raven Falls series but Of Spirits and Superstition is the best! It is the least “cozy mystery” of the series but it has the same wonderful support system that is my favorite things about cozies. Winter’s tale is intense from beginning to end. and what an ending! I am not a videophile by any means but I kept visualizing how the scenes would play out on screen. I think the series would make a great TV show or movie and there are few books that I believe would transition well. This book may signal the end of the series but I would love for it to continue; the characters have really stayed with me. The relationship among the sisters is the first thing that caught my heart, and that is one of the star elements in each of the books. I would enjoy spending more time getting to know their special guys, who wouldn’t, but it isn’t just because they are hot; they are strong, unique, and fascinating characters. Several of the other secondary characters stood out as people that I would like to know; I will miss Mama N. and all the familiars especially.
Another great read from Nyx Halliwell that delivers magic, mystery, humor, and romance!
This series has been building up to this final battle and I just loved watching Winter come into her own, accept all her gifts, and fight to save her boyfriend and the world…all with her sisters, family, friends, and familiars by her side. I was curious how Winter’s powers would be woven into this series, and Halliwell did not disappoint with the tale she has crafted. Winter has been afraid to accept her power, but when she embraces all that she is, she was one tough woman who wasn’t going to stop until she set things right and saved the world and her man.
I just love this world that Halliwell has created. She has mixed just the right potion of mystery, magic, humor, and heart to deliver a wonderful story and series that truly represents everything that a paranormal cozy mystery should be. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend you start from the beginning and enjoy the whole series!

Book 4 in this amazing wonderful new series by Nyx Halliwell and we come to Winter and Ronan’s story and what an amazing story it is. Winter talks to the dead, she is very strongly gifted, even more so than she ever imagined or wished for.
Winter embraces being a ghost whisperer as she has always found it easier to communicate with the dead than the living. Winter is also gifted at invisibility spells, who needs Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak when Winter Whitethorne is around…
Winter’s boyfriend Ronan is attacked and in a coma, but he still manages to contact Winter and help her solve everything that is going on and how it’s all linked to Winter’s family, their land, their mother’s death and the monster/demon they have imprisoned on their land.
I have to say I seriously love how this one wrapped up it really did bring everything together from this wonderful series and linked it all together in a thrillingly fascinating ending.
Of Spirits and Superstitions was a truly delightful read I couldn’t put down.
Of Spirits and Superstition by Nyx Halliwell is another great addition to Ms. Halliwell’s Sister Witches of Raven Falls.
Ms. Halliwell has penned a ghostly and suspenseful story for the Yule season. Winter’s love interest, Ronan, has been attacked and his spirit has left his body. Winter must follow every avenue to return Ronan’s spirit to his body. However, as it almost Yule, the sisters must also face the demon and best him once and for all so that earth is safe. Winter has been the strong one for all of the sisters and now she must learn again how to open herself up to love and the magic of Yule. Ms. Halliwell has written a book with witchy magic and the magic of love.
