Unrequited Love and Misunderstandings
I have read this author over the course of the last year and a half. While I love Regency Romance, I didn’t think that she did a good job in those earlier books, but I always like to continue to give an author a chance to improve or to impress me, so if the first stories aren’t too hideous, I continue to check out an author’s books. I am very glad that I’ve done so with this author, as I have really enjoyed this Agents of the Crown Series. Her writing style has definitely improved, though there still are some punctuation errors that I find bothersome. I’ve enjoyed the international settings of this series, as Regency romances tend to stick to just England with perhaps an occasional journey to France. I also enjoy the unrequited love aspect of this particular book. The hero and heroine have been in love with each other since childhood, but she cannot take some of his more overbearing ways. Will he mend his ways so they can find their HEA? Will her rakish fellow agent snag her romantic interest instead? Or will she just be happy to continue in her role as an agent of the crown? You have to check out the book yourself to find out. But I certainly recommend starting this series at the beginning as the series is definitely a shared world of characters and adventures.
This is the fourth book in the Agents for the Crown series. Oh, and what a terrific series this is! Ms. Lance is an excellent storyteller and really does an great job of bringing the Regency era to life with her writing. I feel as if I am right there experiencing it all myself. Her stories are so captivating they pull you in right from the start. This is an amazing story filled with intrigue and suspense. Joanna has been in love with Jonathan for the longest time, but he doesn’t seem to really notice. When she starts spending time with Lord Mayberry who helps her with her mission as one of the Agents for the Crown, then he starts to pay attention. The relationship between Jonathan and Joanna gets more and more entertaining as some unexpected plot twists come into play. This is definitely a great addition to the series and I am excited for the next one!

Miss Joanna Deville has been in love with Lord Jonathon Montgomery but he’s never shown affection for her. When she gets recruited to be an Agent for the Crown and leaves with her new training agent Lord Thomas Mayberry, Jonathon seems to be a bit jealous and follows the two. This is a fun, entertaining read and as the relationship between Jonathon and Joanna takes some unexpected twists the story just gets better and better. I loved this book and this series and getting to read about all of the interesting characters. The writing is well done and the ending is great.
The fourth book in the Agents for the Crown series a well written Regency Romantic Suspense story This is Miss Joanna Jane Deville, and Mister Jonathon Edward Montgomery’s story of suspense, drama, danger, senseless deaths, twists, turns, intrigue, and romance. Miss Joanna Deville had hoped to win the heart of Lord Jonathon Montgomery, but that didn’t seem to happen. However, when she helped with the capture of a notorious jewel thief and an assassin, the Prince Regent saw her value and wanted her recruited as an Agent for the Crown.
When Joanna accepts the offer to become an Agent, Lord Thomas Mayberry, a known rakehell, is assigned to train her in the job. But when Jonathon saw Thomas with her, and knowing of his rakish reputation, he urgently changed his mind about pursuing her. Will he be able to draw her attention back to himself? Or is her new trainer captivating all of her attention? And are they paying close attention to see that stolen artwork is not their only problem when someone inside the agency has betrayed them?
The series is not quite done.
I can just picture Vienna and our lovely Miss Deville out and about not with Jon no a Thomas Mayberry and what is worse he is a rake. Thomas has a bit of secret so who is he really? Now we have Jon going to Vienna to make Joanna his. The fun is what he finds. I loved the book it has mystery and suspense and his brilliantly written. Each book has been first-rate in this series so far and it looks like we may have one more book. The outcome of the tale was outstanding and a bit sad too. I highly recommend this one it is a clever use of words by the author. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
