I fell in love with her. Then she died. But that’s not the end of our story.I met Sylvie Cranston when I was ten years old. Back then, she was the annoying, weird girl who had moved next door and got me in trouble. But by twelve, we became friends when I taught her how to bait a fishing line and she showed me the value of a selfless act. At fourteen, she owned my heart. At seventeen, she died.Or … she died.
Or so I was told. But I don’t believe it. Sylvie is part of my soul. I would know if she was no more. I searched and prayed for her to come back to me. Finally, I just waited for her.
Ten years later, she strolled into the English lit course I taught. Only this girl claimed her name was Sophie Becker and she had no idea who I was. But I’m not giving up. I’m going to get the girl I love back and protect her from the danger that took her away all those years ago.
My name is Caleb Tanner and this is our story.

They form a strong friendship into their teens then an incident occurs with her supposed death. Cal knows shes still alive & that reality occurs years later when as a teacher he finds her in his class.
This flashes back to the past & the present & I’ll leave the rest for you to find out.

They say to never judge a book by it’s cover, but I will admit that it was the beautiful cover of this book that drew me to read it. Girl By Any Other Name is the story of Caleb and Sylvie. They meet when they are just children. At first, Caleb doesn’t like Sylvie but he tolerates his new neighbor. As the years go on, the two become best friends and although they love each other, Sylvie won’t allow them to be more than friends.
After tragedy strikes, Caleb spends the next ten years hoping to find Sylvie again although everyone tells him that she died. He refuses to believe that she’s not still alive and he can’t truly move on with his life without her. Then, Sophie Becker walks into Caleb’s classroom. He’s sure that Sophie is actually his Sylvie, but he’s been wrong before. Has Caleb found his Sylvie, and if so, can he protect her and make her his this time around?
This story goes back and forth between the past and the present, and I especially enjoyed the peek into Caleb and Sylvie’s past as they grew up together and grew to love each other. The story does take some unexpected turns along the way, and just when I thought that I might have it figured out, another twist came that I didn’t see coming. This is definitely a second-chance romance but it also has some mystery and suspense.
Girl By Any Other Name is the first book that I’ve read by M.K. Schiller and I’ll definitely be checking out some of her other books now.
It is a amazing, beautiful book to read alking with such intriguing suspense that it keeps you on your toes. The love Caleb has for Sylvie is such a hard live to come by. It is such a true love to aspire to have. The pain, passion and care is exuded throughout every chapter, I could not put the book down.

Girl By Any Other Name is my first ever read from this author. When I’ve read the blurb of this book, I was instantly intrigued by the story. My mind kept coming up with theories, but I had one in my mind that I was certain was the correct guess. I was wrong.
The story was told all throughout the book by Caleb or Cal, an English Lit college instructor. It told the story of Cal still hang up about that girl he loved and lost during his teen years. During a tragic incident, Sylvie died, or so they wanted him to believed. He didn’t want to but had to put a front that he believed it so as not to alarm his mother and sister more or locked away in a padded room. Imagine his shock when a girl who looked like his Sylvie was attending his class.
The story was done showing the past and present Cal. This was a perfect way to show the development of the story and its characters relationship. They may be young to start feeling that strong for each other but what these two have been through in their life and shared was deep enough to survive until the present day. They say first love never dies and I think their story proved that it is true. Overall, this is a story of second chance, romantic suspense and a love lost only to find again. I loved it!
Girl By Any Other Name is the first book that I have read from M.K. Schiller and I must say that I am so freaking glad that I gave this story a chance! The moment I saw this cover and read the blurb I was hooked, but I never could have anticipated all the twists and turns that would leave me completely surprised around every new corner. This author packs an emotional punch with this story that will hit you right where it hurts…deep inside your soul.
Caleb and Sylvie story is a slow burning romance that will completely engulf your heart, pulling on every single one of your heartstrings. Caleb never believed Sylvie was gone so when she suddenly resurfaced a few years later as Sophie Becker…with no recollection of what they had or who she really was. Dive into this story today to find out how these two find their way back to each other!
This story is definitely one of those reads that you want to go into blind and experience without any spoilers. Based on this story, I will definitely be checking out some more books from this author!
I could not put this down! This is the first book I read by this author and I was hooked! I cannot stress this enough: It had me at the edge of my seat. The whole time I was so invested in Caleb and Sylvie and kept wondering what happened to Sylvie. I cried, I laughed, I smiled, I felt EVERYTHING! The drama, the suspense, the sweetness, the love, and the undying devotion had me in tears. I am picking more books up by this author ASAP!
This is a story of Calebe Tanner,a College Instructor and Sylvie Cranston,an artist.
Cal and Sylvie met as kids, when Sylvie moved to Cal’s neighborhood. At the beginning Ca; didn’t like Sylvie all that much, she was a very weird and lonely girl, but over time they grow to like and eventually love each other.By the time Cal was eighteen,he new that Sylvie was the love of his life.
But Sylvie had a secret and one night that secret drew them apart, leaving Cal heartbroken and with the knowledge that Sylvie is dead. But Cal won’t believe in that story.
Fifteen years later,Caleb is College Instructor teaching English Lit when a well very familiar face shows up in his classroom. He know that this is his opportunity to get Sylvie back, only this girl’s name is Sophie and not Sylvie.
This book was alternating between past and present and that was a very good thing,it give me glimpse of Sylvie’s and Cal’s childhood, how they fell in love and how they fell apart. Both character were very well written and likable.Cal is nice and charming, but Sylvie was sort of mystery all the way thru this book. Their romance was nice and passion was at the top.
Because we are alternating between past and present, this book had, sort of mysterious note.We know that something happened but we don’t know what and that was what made me turn the next page and read more of this book.
I had a problem with the plot however. When Sylvie’s secret was finally revealed,it was very anticlimactic. She said it in such a monotonous way.like she was reading a book and not talking about her traumatic life experience. From that point on the book just went downhill. It was more about sex that anything else. The twist at the end was unexpected but it could’n make up for the entire half of the book.
Overall, this book was okay.Just okay, good at the beginning but bad at the end.Mostly okay, tho.
What is life but a series of events that lead to your true destiny.
She changed him as a child, gave him three precious things. Friendship, an unspoken love, and a reason to hope in the face of adversity.
He wasnt expected, but was welcomed. She knew he was something special. Her heart ached for him, for her and for them.
Will the stars align and let them be, or does fate have other plans..?
Wow! what a sensational monumental read!
A slow burn, a reletionship built on a faith that they belong to each other, and an aspiration are at the core of this unrivaled read.
One girl one boy, one man one woman. Such beauty and devastation. An unwanted nightmare when all you ask for is the dream.
Sylvie is very different. Shes unique from her heart and mind, to her style and hidden talents. Shes a keeper.
Caleb is the popular jock with a difference he has a true heart and pure thoughts.
Theres an innocence about them, and what they share. Its mesmerising!
Just when I thought the book had reached its pinnacle, all expectations surpassed, an unforeseen corner came about and then.. then the edge of my seat came into play!
Tears and loss, grief and shock bind together to create something so special its unforgettable.
An intriguing take on a topic that is sometimes seen in suspense or thrillers: someone seems to come back from the dead. I don’t want to give too much away, but I found it interesting the way that the story moved back and forth between a fictionalized past of the couple and they’re present. The true source of the mystery and suspense is not known for quite a while, and not until the end do we really understand what happened in the past. The hero had quite a tendre for the heroine, even when all thought she was dead. The author was successful in making the “back from the dead” theme work, and I enjoyed the interplay between the couple both in the past and the present; kids can be kids, and adulting is sometimes complicated! Books that have so much flashback can feel disjointed, but the past illuminated the present in a variety of ways. I will admit that I was a little confused at first about what Raven Girl was and if it was meant to be told from the perspective of a young person or from an older person looking back at their childhood. But I decided just to trust the author and go with it, and it actually did work. A well-done, unique story.
This is such a touching read. The storyline and descriptions bring the locations to the forefront of your mind. The characters are written beautifully.

Girl By Any Other Name is a fast- paced, intriquing, and suspenseful read. The story was well written, and the twists and turns will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens. The chacracters were likeable characters, and they had good chemistry. I enjoyed this story.
Plenty of mystery and suspense with just enough twists and turns. A page turning story line that’s well written and will grab your attention from the start. You’ll fall in love with the characters and enjoy the chemistry between them and their interactions.

Caleb never believed that Sylvie died on that tragic day and searched for her relentlessly. Even after years of therapy to deal with his past trauma and loss, his love for her was still alive.
When he realized one of his students may have been his Sylvie, Caleb was determined to be with her again.
I liked the romanticism of this storyline where there was a bit of fairytale true love going on. I was relieved to find that Sylvie never fell out of love with Caleb and their lasting love was mutual.
Lots of drama and suspense as their history and her secrets were finally exposed revealing danger that threatened their reunion.

Make sure you have an afternoon available if you read this book as you won’t be able to put it down!
Told primarily in Caleb’s POV, the story bounces between past and present; the past when he was 10 and meets a strange young girl who moves into the house next door, and the present where he is teaching English literature classes at a Portland college looking for his lost love. This is definitely a slow burn romance as it spans more than a decade. I loved the connection between Caleb and Sylvia as adolescents. There was a charm to the relationship that came from the awkwardness of youth. The adult Caleb though, I felt was too insecure and jealous. Granted he had reasons for his insecurities but there were moments when he was pushing the boundaries for me. There is an element of mystery that I suspected was the reason for Sylvia’s “death” but all is resolved for their HEA. A very angst-y read.
