Wow! This is another great book from this author. I love the main characters and how they relate to each other. I loved the plot. The book was full of action, twists, and turns. This is a series that I love. I feel like it should be a series on tv!! I was impressed. I will be looking forward to more books from this author!!
Another great mystery by Blair Howard. The author never fails to keep me guessing and on my toes until the end!
In this mystery, hard-working Lt. Kate is partnered with a new detective and is under a lot of pressure to not only perform, but stay one step ahead of her creepy boss.
I liked the way the plot grew tighter and tighter until the end, when we find out who killed the women, and the kinky twist was a welcome angle.
A satisfying, quick detective mystery that I devoured in just a few days!
Blair Howard I was lucky enough to have gotten a the box set from the author. I am volunteering to leave this review. Fantastic book plenty of action and suspense.
Victoria (Lt. Kate Gazzara #5), my tenth read from author Blair Howard and the fifth in the Lt. Kate Gazzara series. Well-written and enjoyable detective fiction, each book in the series better than the last. I was been given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Renée Maxwell’s narration adds to the book’s enjoyment. I look forward to Genevieve, the next book in this series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
A gripping story that catches your attention from the start. It includes mystery, intrigue, and wonderfully developed characters. I have enjoyed reading Lt. Kate Gazzara’s stories. I highly recommend her stories.
Lt. Kate Gazzara is a force to be reckoned with! While breaking in a new partner, Kate untangles a twisted web in the posh Lookout Mountain community, where appearances are everything and nothing is what it seems. If you are going to commit murder – here is a friendly word of advice – don’t do it anywhere near Kate. Another great read from Blair Howard. If you have read his Harry Starke novels you will love the Kate Gazzara series.
Blair Howard has another success in the latest installment of the Kate Gazzara story that leaves the reader wanting more. Kate has a new partner Janet, who looks like a teenager but proves quite capable and a great pairing with Kate. Finkle is still around and as obnoxious as ever. Chief Johnston is a bit of a surprise to Kate and the reader. The bad guys are wonderfully bad. The story line is interesting. Rich beautiful women are being beaten to death in their homes, and they all attend the same mega-church in their rich neighborhood pastored by the “huckster of holiness” as Kate calls him. There are some red herrings to lead the reader astray. Mr Howard doesn’t want the reader to solve the mystery too soon. I don’t want to spoil anything so you need to read it yourself. You will love it.
Lieutenant Kate Gazarra has a doozy of a case this time. Victoria is murdered and left at her house on Lookout Mountain. Why is a woman so brutally murdered is such a well to do neighborhood? The local police chief calls in and requests CPD and Kate, along with her new partner, Janet, get the case. It’s a tough one and so is the next and the one after that. They have very few real clues but Kate knows how to investigate and also be in the right place at the right time. I never guessed the real killer until the very end. As always, this author has will written characters and a fantastic plot. I’m definitely looking forward to the next novel. If you enjoy crime mystery, this is definitely for you too!
Once again Kate Gazzara, the fiery, but very effective, detective is back in action. A wealthy woman from a very upmarket part of town is murdered in a very grisly way, unfortunately there are very few clues as to who did it, or why.
Soon another woman from the same area is killed in the same way and Kate and her new partner Janet are pushed to the limit to find the connection. Then there is another one and the investigation really gets critical.
The characters in Blair Howard’s books are always very real, consistent and believable and really well written, even the less savoury ones like Kate’s boss Finkel, who is on her case, again. Janet is also a superb character, as lively and enthusiastic as a young woman can be, but also intelligent and very conscientious, a wonderful foil for Kate to work against.
This plot never gives up, it twists and turns, heads off down blind alleys and generally keeps the reader on their toes, finally arriving at a genuinely thrilling conclusion. A genuine page-turner.
I received an advance copy of the book, but have voluntarily written this honest review.
Kate finds Finkle with his foot on her throat and his hands headed south.
No real relief or reprieve from the former asst Chief, now captain. The man is like a cockroach.
Anyone who is Somebody seem to go to Pastor Ed’s church on Lookout Mountain.
Twisted things are happening to some of his members, so it’s time for Kate to work her magic with her newly minted Detective Bubblegum at her side- a young woman with some surprising skills and energy for her age.
Intense KU drama!
What’s the Police Chief of a small, rich community to do when one of the residents turns up murdered? Call in the reinforcements from the Chattanooga Police Department. Lt Kate Gazzara and her new side kick Detective Janet Tolliver are sent to investigate. In a short time span, another resident turns up dead. The story will want you to keep reading to see of the suspects turns out to the murderer, and why. I’m glad to see Henry Finkle being given a smaller role in the book – his character was way too revolting, especially in this day and age. All in all, another great book in the series.
I just finished reading Victoria, the latest novel in the Lt. Kate Gazzara series by Blair Howard. Kate and her new partner, Janet, are tasked to identify the killer of a wealthy women. Before long, two others are killed by the same individual. Coupled with Kate’s normal problems with Deputy Chief Finkle, she has more on her plate to deal with.
As with all of Blair’s novels, this one doesn’t disappoint. With realistic characters, a riveting plot, and plenty of twists and turns, this is a fantastic story which should be a must read for all who enjoy crime stories. Can’t wait for the next one!
I don’t know how Blair Howard keeps making each story better than the last, but he does! The characters have a lot to do with it, and the way they interact with one another is a big part of how great this story is. I can hardly wait for the next installment to see where he goes. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Blair Howard has done it again with Book 5 of the Lt. Kate Gazzara novels. Kate is up to her elbows with a new younger partner, and a new horrific case. Although there is mention of Harry Starke, I have really enjoyed Kate’s stories. What one might think of as a spin off has become an entire series for just Kate. There is still some overlap, which is nice. Plenty of action and mystery, well rounded characters and great descriptions make this another amazing read. You really just can’t go wrong with this author!
A housekeeper finds her boss dead in the laundry room shortly after she arrives for work. Kate Gazzara is the detective assigned to the case. There are two more murders committed in the same fashion. This is a well written story line that keeps you guessing. A twist at the end you will not see coming. I started reading and finished in one day.
