This is the second book in the Domestic Discipline Quartet.Eleanor Villiers, now Lady Hyde and originally a reluctant wife to Lord Edwin, has has fallen in love with her husband without the reassurance that he loves her back. It’s literally the very situation she’d been desperate to avoid. Eleanor begins to try out various tactics to discover her husband’s true feelings towards her, only to find … only to find she knows very little about love and unfortunately her antics somehow seem to constantly lead her into situations where disciplinary measures become necessary.
Meanwhile, Irene has married Eleanor’s brother Hugh Stanley, Viscount Petersham, even though she’s in love with another man and has been since childhood. On their honeymoon to Hugh’s estates, Irene finds her emotions becoming increasingly confused as she becomes more and more fond of her husband. Under his gentle care and approval her true self begins to emerge, unfortunately leading to some unsafe behavior on her part which requires Hugh’s immediate attention. He never wanted a rebellious wife who would need constant discipline, but he doesn’t hesitate to mete it out when necessary.
The ladies struggle with their notions of love, the men struggle with the hot and cold temperaments of their wives, and all of them wonder what kind of conclusion their relationships are leading to. Can they make their marriages work?
Be warned: This book contains hot scenes and seriously sexy alpha males who firmly believe in being the head of the household (as was the case during the Victorian time period).

Dealing with Eleanor’s growing feelings towards her husband Edwin, and her fears he doesn’t feel the same. Worse even, that she’ll end up with a marriage like her parents, who spend more time apart than together….
And Irene is having her own kind of problems with her husband Hugh,Eleanor’s brother. Her growing feelings towards him confuse her as she’s always held a candle for her childhood friend,Alex. Being spanked for misbehaving doesn’t help matters…..at all!
And Wesley,Edwin and Hugh’s closest friend, has returned home after his father’s death. He is going to have to deal with his ward Cynthia,in the next part of this series.
It all adds to the fun,and i’m enjoying it….a lot!
Excellent book to read, great series. Author is wonderful with her story lines
Irene is convinced that she loves Alex, Lord Brooke, her sentiment is not at all returned, as Lord Brooke thinks of her as a little sister. Besides Alex is married Lady Grace even though they are not together at the moment. Hugh and Irene have just gotten married. Hugh is fond of Irene and thinks she will be a good wife and not give him any trouble. Their wedding and the wedding night goes well, and then in the morning Hugh makes Irene come with his mouth.
One day Hugh catches Irene trying her best to get to Rex his stalion in order that she might ride him, even though he expressly forbade her from attempting to ride as the is a one man horse and no one else rides him. At this point Hugh decides that he needs to give Irene a spanking in order to get her to obey him in this matter. So Hugh puts Irene over a near by hay bale face down and bottom up with her dress up so that her bottom was exposed and then proceeds to spank her with his hand. Once he is done spanking the next thing Irene knows he is licking her pussy which was laready wet due to the spanking she had just received. Then Hugh starts fucking her from behind as she lays over the bale, while he makes her promise to stay away from his horse, all the while Irene is in ecstasy from his fucking.
On another day while at a Party Irene sort of throws herself at Alex and kisses him and is rebuffed, however her behaviour was seen by her husband. So Hugh takes her home along with Alex who comes with them. Hugh then proceeds to give Irene a punishment spanking with his hand, and all the while Irene is getting spanked Alex is watching them. After Hugh gives Irene fourty smacks on her bottom Alex leaves and Hugh takes to their bed and fucks her to their pretty much mutual satisfaction.
A few days later Edwin and Hugh find out from Irene that Eleanor and Irene were planning on leaving and going to Bath together with out their husbands and with out permission from their husbands. Once Irene was alone with Hugh she tells him everything, about how she thought that she loved Alex and how she actually loves him.
Edwin goes home and confronts his wife and Eleanor is getting another spanking from Edwin. First he strips her naked and then ties her hands and gags her, then he leaves her there in bed while he goes off and makes arraingements to travel to Bath the next day with his friend Wesley. Then Edwin comes back and proceeds to spank his wife with a hair brush on her bare bottom. Then leaving her tied and gagged he goes on to first play with her breasts until she is frantic and then he puts his mouth on her pussy causing her to come almost immediately and still he continues until she comes again, then Edwin uses his tongue and fingers until she comes a third time. Finally he fucks her until they both come and Eleanor passes out, at which point Edwin checks on her because he is somewhat worried.
Next we have a nice ending along with an Epilogue containing a teaser for Punishing His Ward.
Not a stand alone series.
This was the first one of this series I started to read/listen to I was instantly confused. So I had to wait until I could get the first one in the series. Once I had it I rejoiced. I love this series. I actually already had 3 and 4 as well as most of the second series yay. So I ended up listening to them one after the other. I thought I’d already reviewed these. But I was just checking and found that I’d fallen behind on my reviews. So I’m doing them now. Better late than never. At least I got the first one done right away.
The narrative brings the story to life.
This series is definitely a keeper, I’ll be listening to it over and over.
This audio book was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author or narrator and I provided this unbiased voluntary review.
I listened to the audio version of this book. I do think the narrator does an excellent job with both the male and female voices. The British accent provides that extra edge that enhances the story. I am not sure I can imagine reading this instead of listening to it.
It is a continuation of Book 1, Birching His Bride. Edwin and Eleanor ‘s relationship continues to grow as she question his love for her. She continues to do silly things to try to prove whether or not Edwin loves her, which of course results in further discipline. This storyline was lasting much too long for me. It got to be really tiresome after a while.
There is also more time spent on Hugh and Irene’s marriage and relationship. But, not as much as I expected. I thought more of the book would be devoted to Hugh and Irene. Hugh is Eleanor’s brother, and one of Edwin’s best friends. Irene believes she is in love with her lifelong friend, Alex, but discovers that she is falling in love with her husband, Hugh.
Alex has more of a story in this book. He is married to, but separated from, Grace. Grace is causing all sorts of scandal within the Ton, but Alex is not aware what went wrong with their marriage. Alex is becoming fast friends with Edwin, Hugh, and Wesley.
Wesley also has more of a storyline in this book. He is finally forced to become involved with his ward, Cynthia.
This is still an erotic, historical, spanking tale. If any of that offends you, don’t waste your time on this series.
The book ends, not so much as a cliffhanger, but as a continuing story. Understand that if you want to have all the loose ends tied up, I am fairly certain that won’t happen before book 4.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Audio version of this book received from the author.
This book can also be found in the “Dealing with Discipline Quartet.” Golden Angel had me so totally immersed in the stories of Eleanor and Edwin, and Hugh and Irene, come into themselves as individuals, as spouses, as members of society and the ton. Another time and social standards that would seem preposterous to a 20th century mind are brought to life so vividly that at times I lost track of my surroundings. Between these two couples and their discoveries and their surrounding characters they’ve kept me on the edge of my seat through quite a bit of the book. What a great story, a perfect representative of the times and a masterful lead-in to the next book in the series. I can’t wait.
