Luke’s got a secret, and it’s one that could change everything between him and his new computer science partner. Luke has a secret. He much prefers an unknown gamer friend to the shallow people that he often socializes with. However, shallow parties offer an escape from his demanding father, so he still makes the rounds.
Matt and Julia come from different sides of the…cafeteria. She’s head cheerleader and he’s in the AV club.
One night, Luke sees Suzie getting wasted doing a keg stand at a party next-door to the party he is at. His sister once had an issue with alcohol at a party, so he jumped the fence to see if Suzie is in similar trouble. When he follows her to see if she is okay, he finds out a secret that suddenly makes him want to know Suzie better.
This is a sweet story about giving people a chance to prove their motivation is just, and not simply judging the proverbial book by its cover.
My Virtual Prince Charming
#Geeks Gone Wild, Book 2
By: Maggie Dallen
Narrated by: Lauren Fortgang, Graham Halstead
This series is just so much fun, I am loving it! Maggie Dallen can pick a trope, find that memory in my heart from high school and let me live it all over again in her humorous and lovable style! This is book 2 of the Geeks Gone Wild series and it gives us Suzie and Luke’s story. Now me being a person who is online a lot, I can vouch for having friends, so when Suzie and Luke ended up playing the same video game under pseudonyms, I automatically fell for this story. Now the catch. Luke is a jock, but does have some nerdy tendencies. Suzie is one of the people really effected by the Geeks Gone Wild practical joke. Can these two really find their way to happiness? Dallen has crafted this story of jock falls for nerd in a contemporary setting, and had me laughing out loud at the antics at times. I love the characters, the struggles of finding that comfortable path in high school and fell for this couple. Luke especially intrigued me with his dual interests, since so many times, the jock never lets us know anything deeper than the game. It’s fun, flirty, interesting and just a good time listen.
Narrated by Graham Halstead and Lauren Fortgang, we have incredible new adult sounds and a team that really compliments each other. They found that rhythm and made the characters real and believable. Together they have great comedic timing and I enjoyed the listen immensely.

It would be better to start with the first book in the series as the events and characters from Love at First Fight factor heavily into this story as well. It’s essentially a continuation of the same story without any cliffhanger endings between the books. It does give some context when the events are mentioned, but you would get a lot more out of this story if you’ve read the first.
As with the first book, I liked the dual narrators for the dual points of view. Overall, I liked the story but it the event seemed a little more typical of other high school stories when compared to the first book. (The unexpected response to the bullying was my favorite part of the first book.)

Lauren and Graham did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life.
