If you love sweet, clean, Regency-era romances with mystery, you will love The Aristocrat’s Charade.
more
I was utterly confused at the first, but once the premise made its way out, I was invigorated looking forward to yet another mysterious adventure romance. It turned out better than I could expected. Quite entertaining.
Ophelia was rude towards Viscount Marchmont when he tried to restart their courtship. Yes, he ended it and did not seem very happy about restarting it, which would have made me question why he would want to. But she still she shouldn’t have agreed that he was dull when he commented that he could be, agreed to dance with him and then avoided him, tried to force another lady on him, and other behavior that was not appropriate. When he is finally forced to reveal why he needed to court her again she gets caught up in solving the mystery and is much nicer. However, I liked her friend Miss Smallwood much better. She was kind and got her point across without being mean.
I usually summarize a bit the story, but I think the blurb of the book does it amazingly so I don’t want to repeat myself.
I just want to say I loved this regency romance. I love fake relationships that slowly grow into something more.
Lord Peter has to save his brother’s Edward reputation and courting Miss Ophelia seems to be the only solution. But little he knows that Ophelia might be the Key to help solve Edwards problem. And while they investigate and search for the culprit, they both find out that neither opposes that their courtship does not end after the problem is solved? But will they tell each other their true feelings. Will the mystery be solved?
A delightful regency romance with compelling characters and enough intrigue to keep you captivated until the end. The romance was sweet and clean! Loved it

This is dramatic, suspenseful, romantic and intriguing. Lord Marchmont began courting Ophelia, but soon came to the decision that they wouldn’t suit, so he ended it. He thought her too bold and opinionated. Ophelia wasn’t really upset, because she thought that he was a bore. Then Marchmont gets kidnapped and threatened, he’s to resume the courtship and then marry Ophelia or something bad will happen to his brother. While he’s searching for his brother, he, Ophelia and two friends try to find the person responsible, before they have to marry. But something happens while they’re spending time together that has them both confused. And the twist at the end was a huge shock that I didn’t see coming.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

A Regency mystery
Something is afoot in this engaging Regency mystery. The story does not follow the usual pattern, beginning with an amicable end to an engagement, followed by the couple falling in love.
Ophelia and Marchmont join forces to try and root out a blackmailer and fall in love along the way.
The book is fun and interesting and just different enough to stand out and be remembered.

I really enjoyed this romance that also includes a mystery. Ophelia and Peter make a great detective team. A story about really getting to know someone and learning that what you “think” you want is often different than what you really want. Loved their friends. The ending was so sweet!!!

Ms Ophelia doesn’t care if she never marries. This book is about one suitor in particular who feels Ophelia is too opinionated, so he ends his courtship of her. He is abducted later, and his brother is threatened with ruin if he does not continue courting her. He finally confesses to Ophelia and they join forces to solve the mystery.
I really like this book!
Lord Peter Marchamont is courting Miss Ophelia Gray, but he feels this courtship is not going in the direction he would like so he decides to end it. The feeling was mutual and Olivia is relieved by his decision. A few days later Peter receives a threatening note stating he must court Ophelia or his brother Edward will be ruined. Peter returns to resume his courtship of Ophelia and together they work to protect Edward so that their courtship can end. As they work together this results in the development of mutual respect and affection. This is another well written book by Joyce Alec filled with intrigue and mystery.

Olivia is a wonderful character. Willing to learn from her mistakes and extremely sympathetic, how can Peter not want to court her? Add in a little mystery and you have a well written story. As usual, I enjoyed this book as much as I expected to from Joyce Alec.
