Ex-baseball star and single dad, Rusty Reisse thinks he has it all, until his son’s fancy private school gives him an ultimatum. Rusty puts his broadcasting career on hold to spend the summer in a rented cottage in the country with his boy, Tommy. His plans for a great bonding vacation are blown apart when Meg Gunderson shows up with her son, claiming the house is hers. Forced to share the … share the space, Rusty is hell bent on getting her out while Meg schemes to send Rusty packing.
Admitting only to himself she’s a better mother than he is a father, Rusty isn’t taking any condescending pointers from this snarky schoolteacher. So what if she’s hot? But there’s something about Meg that draws his son. Could this smart-mouthed babe be the mother Tommy needs? Over Rusty’s dead body.

Another great story from one of my favorite authors!
Just one Kiss is the story of 2 single parents who want to get away with their kids for the summer for different reasons and find they have each rented the same cabin. It is a story about trying to bond with your child, learning that is ok to ask for help, and getting out of your comfort zone. Ms. Joachim tells a sweet story of love lost, love found and the blending of families. I received this as an ARC and voluntarily give my review.
Loved the book, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. Once I started I could not get enough, from the start till the end I was engrossed I was even on the edge of my seat with twists and turns, lust and passion, strength and happiness with a happily ever after. Do yourself a favor and buy the book you want be disappointed.

Such a delightful novel. I like both characters and reading how they deal with their different issues was entertaining and even at times a bit amusing. The story flows at a good pace, strong-willed characters take time and their challenges of blending and resisting are all very absorbing to read. The kids were great & the plot had just enough drama and emotion. Although it’s not excessive, I didn’t really care for some of the adult language. Other than that, very good story, in the end, I think Rusty really shines through. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book and this is my honest review.
Book five in the Pine Grove Novel series and it just gets better with each new book. A well written story with a very good storyline, the story flowed smoothly from page to page. This is ex-baseball star, Rusty Reisse and Meg Gunderson a schoolteacher and their sons Tommy and Charlie. They start out having rented the same house, this is an enemies to lovers story, loved it. Rusty Reisse is an ex baseball player turned sports announcer. His son is having a tough time at school and the school social worker says that he needs to spend time with his son, namely a couple of months this summer to put his son first. So he talks to a friend who lets him rent his summer cottage. His friend says that he is trying to get that house in a divorce and should be free to use. Meg Gunderson is a school teacher who wants to take a vacation with her son and plans a couple of months off in the woods to explore. She talks to her friend that lets her rent a cabin in the woods because she thinks that she is trying to get it in a divorce. Of course it is the same cabin what could go wrong? She likes science and he likes sports. They are each other’s opposite. They do say that Opposites attract. The story goes through the entire summer and the obstacles that they all face.
It was a cute little love story. From the first few pages of the book it seems that Rusty is just not a caring dad but by the middle to the end of the book you see that his son is one of the most important things in his life. He also proves that he is an actual caring person around the right people. As soon as I realized that both were renting a cabin that it was the same cabin and had a general idea what would happen in the end. But I liked those characters enough to keep reading to find out exactly what would happen. I was also worried about her ex-boyfriend (the creeper) would show up again and cause all kinds of problems; he was a little too possessive.

When Rusty and Meg discover that the cabin they separately rented for the summer was in fact double booked by a warring couple no longer speaking to each other, they both stand firm and refuse to move. Rusty and his son Tommy, have a last-ditch attempt at mending their relationship before the school authorities take over. However, when Tommy meets Meg’s son Charlie, the two boys immediately take to each other and a friendship springs to life. The first few days with the stubborn adults taking swipes at each other makes for tense moments and it’s the boys who take the more mature initiative and keep their parents in line. In this romantic comedy, their summer vacation takes on a life of its own as they settle into a routine. However, the question they have to ask is whether there is enough between them to weather the storms of life and to find middle ground, given their very different backgrounds. I enjoyed the characters in this book as each of them began to develop and learn from each other, as well as the humour that always surfaces when children are involved. 3.5 stars. Sweet second-chance story of finding love. Meg and her son Charlie are still recovering from her husband’s death two years ago. Rusty, divorced after a brief marriage, and his son Tommy need time together to strengthen their bond. The bond between the kids is instantaneous; not so much Meg and Rusty. Rusty is not a very likeable character early in the story but comes around. Can they overcome their vastly different backgrounds? I received this book from eBook Discovery. Oof! This pair. I’m a little surprised they aren’t lawyers for how much they love to argue with each other. I’m not sure whether I’d say this book is more ‘opposites attract’ or ‘enemies to lovers’, because Rusty and Meg sure don’t like each other when they first meet. I was fascinated watching them learn how to interact with one another in ways that didn’t involve snarking and sniping. This book treated me to all the emotions I’ve come to expect from this author’s work. From love, loss, and longing to humor and happily ever after; this story was a bit of a roller-coaster to me. This story also lived up (or is it down?) to the old Hollywood adage about never working with children or animals because they will steal the show. Charlie, Tommy, and Coco ran away with the scene every opportunity they got. I’m actually a little sad the book’s over already.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
You definitely won’t be disappointed with this read I just loved Meg and Rusty because boy do they love to goad and rile each other up, then there is Charlie and Tommy who you can’t help but smile every time they are around. This is a great read that takes you on an emotional ride from happiness, laughing, welling with tears, cringing at times, cheering for one or all of them and of course the hope of a happy ever after for all.
