Sometimes the happiness we’re looking for has been there all along… Adele and Justine have never been close. Born twenty years apart, Justine was already an adult when Addie was born. The sisters love each other but they don’t really know each other. When Addie dropped out of university to care for their ailing parents, Justine, a successful lawyer, covered the expenses. It was the best … expenses. It was the best arrangement at the time but now that their parents are gone, the future has changed dramatically for both women.
Addie had great plans for her life but has been worn down by the pressures of being a caregiver and doesn’t know how to live for herself. And Justine’s success has come at a price. Her marriage is falling apart despite her best efforts.
Neither woman knows how to start life over but both realize they can and must support each other the way only sisters can. Together they find the strength to accept their failures and overcome their challenges. Happiness is within reach, if only they have the courage to fight for it.
Set in the stunning coastal town of Half Moon Bay, California, Robyn Carr’s new novel examines the joys of sisterhood and the importance of embracing change.

I love stories about sisters, especially sister who have not always seen eye to eye but still love and support each other. Addie and Justine have a large age difference between them. They didn’t bond over late nights, gossip about boys, fight over bedrooms, or who gets to shower first. They were still sisters who love each other.
Yet, at the same time they both had to start their lives over. Justine’s marriage fell apart and their parents, who Addie had been taken care of, passed away. They both had to find a way to make their new lives happy and they came together as sisters to make that happen for them both. The strength and love the sister’s showed each other and those around them made me want them to find their new happiness. They were both strong, successful, and loving ladies that took the rough turns in life and let them guide them to find new ways to become better people. They also showed Justine’s daughters that even when life knocks you down you get back up and keep going. Justine and Addie are great role models.
Sunrise on Half Moon Bay is a strong story with powerful women and a sweet story. I recommend picking up your copy.
Sunrise on Half Moon Bay is an amazing and emotional story that is pure Robyn Carr as you can hear her voice through the words. This story examines the joys of sisterhood as well as the importance of embracing change. Reading this amazing story had me laughing, crying, and empathetic for these two sisters as their lives are suddenly changing. Sisters Adele and Justine were never close as they were born twenty years apart. This age difference made it difficult for these two to truly know each other. Addie dropped out of college and became the caretaker for her ailing parents while successful lawyer Justine covered the expenses. Now that their parents are gone, each woman is facing a life crisis. Adele doesn’t know what to do with her life or how to live for herself while Justine’s marriage is falling apart. The sisters realize that by supporting each other they will get through these life challenges. Together they will find the strength to survive their failures, work through their challenges and discover what they want from life. Both Adele and Justine can be happy and enjoy their lives, but first they must find the courage to fight for what they want in life.
Ms. Carr wrote a story that reflects family dynamics and personal trauma that many readers will be able relate to. This is an amazing and emotional story that is not to be missed. This rich tale is filled with visual descriptions, family and personal challenges, in addition to endearing characters. I highly recommend Sunrise on Half Moon Bay to other readers.

There is something about stories about sisters that really appeals to me. This story of sisters Adele and Justine is set in the beautiful little town of Half Moon Bay.
Addie and Justine were never close sisters, given the twenty-year gap between them. Now each sister is faced with an unanticipated future. I enjoyed reading how they faced their challenges, experienced personal growth, and got to know each other and bond as sisters. I thought each sister was portrayed in a realistic way, making mistakes along the way but learning from those mistakes.
Beautifully written, I highly recommend it as a quick read.
Thank you to the publisher for the advance copy to review. Opinions are my own.
The story of Justine and Adele is just delicious! Justine has been married for over two decades when she discovers that her husband Scott is a cheat. As a lawyer, she knows just what to do legally, but then she has to pick up the pieces of her life and try to hold together the sanity of herself and their two teen daughters. Adele has been caring for their ailing parents for almost a decade and now she is at loose ends because their mom has died. Does she stay in the old home where she was raised, continue her education, find a job…what does she do with her life now that she is free? I enjoyed how the plot unfolded slowly and with lots of layers to the lives of both women. Their discovery of how to start a new life as well as a new relationship with each other made for a wonderful read. I wanted to know more about Justine, more about Adele, more about the teens, more about their love interests. I just wanted to know more, and in the time I set aside each day to read, this was the first book that drew me in regularly. I loved the setting and the symbolism of having a sunrise, which is like a new start. My favorite part was seeing the sisters discover what they had in common and how much they could help each other out of their dilemmas. There are many sub-plots that I am not mentioning, but I am certain that fans of romance will devour this book. It is so good! This is the first book that I have read by this author, but I will definitely look for more by her since I have read that she is a prolific author. I need more of uplifting books with lots of conflict but a fairy tale ending! This book definitely fit that bill!

As usual Robyn drew me in. I normally hate any book that has to do with divorce because – been there. done that. Dont want to revisit the emotions – but Robyn kept me reading and enjoying the interplay between the two sisters and their wildly different lives. It’s a quick read and an absorbing one. And I love the town of Half Moon Bay. I visted once on a trip downn the coast and was enchanted.
Two sisters needing to start from scratch. Adele dedicated eight years of her life to taking care of her parents when they fell ill and now that they both passed away she does not know how to start over, she does not know what her dreams were, her projects, her goals. Justine had the perfect family, the perfect career, the perfect life until nothing seemed so perfect.
Sunrise on Half Moon Bay brings two stories of resilience, rediscovered, love between sisters, new loves and new horizons. I especially liked Justine, who showed all the feminine strength of a warrior. Besides bringing a strong subject little shown in books which is the physical and psychological abuse of women towards men, something real. Adele, on the other hand, did not win me over, I found her a bit monotonous and confused and mainly tied to the past in such a way that she simply went blind to the love that was right in front of her. She redeemed herself at the end but still didn’t convince me.
Sunrise on Half Moon Bay by Robyn Carr has Adele Descaro contemplating what she wants to do with her life now. She has spent the last eight years caring for her parents. Adele had been halfway through her master’s degree when her mother needed her to care for her father. Adele and her sister, Justine Somersby have never been close because of the twenty-year age difference between them. Adele is thankful for Justine covering the household expenses plus providing her with a stipend. Justine is a successful lawyer with a house husband and two teenage daughters. Now, though, her marriage is falling apart, and Justine has a chance to start anew. Both sisters are unsure how to move forward. But together they can figure it out and be better for it. Sunrise on Half Moon Bay is a heartwarming story. Adele and Justine are getting a chance to change their lives. The hard part, of course, is figuring out what you want to do and getting the courage to do it. I thought the characters were realistic along with their situations. Both sisters must recover and learn to trust again. Only when they decide what will make them happy, can they be open to a new relationship. I thought the story had a good flow and moved along at a steady pace. I did feel that there was too much repetition. The same details would be repeated two to four times. I liked seeing the sisters get to know each other. I can see many women relating to the two main characters. I could have done without the foul language (mild) and a graphic, intimate scene (it did not go with the rest of the book). I do want readers to know that there is a domestic violence situation in the story. My favorite phrase from the book is “Out of the ashes comes the beauty.” Sunrise on Half Moon Bay is an uplifting story that is perfect to read on a stormy afternoon or while sitting poolside. Sunrise on Half Moon Bay is a story about second chances, family and happiness.
Linda’s Book Obsession Reviews “Sunrise on Half Moon Bay” by Robyn Carr, MIRA, April 14, 2020
Robyn Carr, author of “Sunrise on Half Moon Bay” has written an entertaining, captivating and memorable novel. The Genres for this novel are Domestic Fiction, Fiction, and Romance. The timeline for this story is in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters or events. The author describes her characters as complex and complicated. This is a wonderful and thought-provoking story about sisters, and family that I would highly recommend.
Justine and Addie are sisters with a huge age difference between them. Justine has a family and works as an attorney in a very busy practice. Her husband basically stays at home with their girls. Addie has dropped out of school and wasn’t able to complete her master’s degree. Addie was the caretaker for both parents for 8 years. After their deaths, Addie has conflicts with what she can do.
Justine now is facing certain domestic and career adjustments, and she and Addie realize they both have to change their lifestyles. This is the first opportunity both sisters have to communicate and perhaps support each other.
I appreciate that the author discusses important topics such as family, friends, emotional support, love and hope. I enjoyed this thought-provoking novel.
Another winner by author Carr
I am a long-time Robyn Carr fan. I think I started with reading her Virgin River series but then went on to read almost all of her books, all favorites in their own way. THE HOUSE ON OLIVE STREET, one of her earlier standalone books, is an especial favorite of mine.
In this book, Addie has put her life on hold for the last eight years, taking care of first her father and then her mother. Her sister, Justine, who is twenty years older, helped with expenses but was a busy successful lawyer, married with teenage daughters.
Now both sisters are having to make major decisions about their lives and are finally getting to know each other. They are doing this in the small Pacific coast town of Half Moon Bay.
I enjoyed this book, not only women’s fiction but also romance, as most of Carr’s books are.
It’s a book about love, friendship, family, dealing with overwhelming obstacles, and making hard decisions.
I received this book from MIRA-Harlequin through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.
This book is about two sisters who are both at a crossroads in their life. For both sisters it is finding the courage to move on. They are both a different times in their lives but at this moment they need each other more than anything. This is a good story about finding what motivates you to do what you really love and want. Adele’s past “love” was annoying rehashing it over and over after 8 years and still not knowing anything. When ever she talked about it I felt like she was channeling a teenager again and it got old quickly. There is love in this book but it’s more about the sisters then romance. Robyn does put a said and hard to read for some people and for others to who don’t realize it happens more than we all think in the book. This book was still good and it shows that family comes together and woman can overcome anything.

What a great story about second chances in life, and learning you really are a strong woman! Great positive message to send to the women of today! 5 Strong stars for this one!
Two sisters, Adele & Justine, born twenty years apart and never really close. After the death of their mother, and circumstances that catch Justine out of nowhere, watch how these sisters find their way back and become the best friends that sisters should be.
Grab this one asap, I loved it!
Sister’s are the best right? Well if you asked these sisters you may have gotten a different answer at first. But as most sister’s do these two through life and circumstance find themselves at a crossroad. I haven’t read this author before and I can honestly say it was quite a refreshing change from my normal. This author writes amazing characters with real life challenges including adultery and avoidance. When forced to finally make life decisions it isn’t always easy especially when you haven’t done it before. This is the story of one sister growing up and taking baby steps through her grief. This is while the other one gets slapped upside the head but rises to the challenge. Together they find their way and have the relationship they never thought they would. Great story and characters.
This was a quick read for me. I’ve enjoyed many of this author’s books previously and enjoyed this one too. It’s always hard to start over or move on but having family and friends always helps. I liked how the closeness of Justine and Allie evolved. . Her readers will definitely love this book too! Thanks to the publisher for the early copy
