Must Read the Series in Order. It is so fun to read each book in order and see how they all fit! Their are conversations you know about in the 1 and 2 book but never know what is said. Things happen and you are given just enough information to know what is going on with couple 1 or 2 this book the whole story of all three come together. You understand better the bond of friendship with the girls and the romances of each get even more depth to them as you see them happening threw their friends eyes. What a fun way to write a series! I was not as in love with Bo and Spencers story, for one thing they are mean to each other in the other books and it gave me a bad taste in my mouth, but it all gets explained. These two were also the most crass, harsh…..can’t find a good word. They just swear more and their make out scene went into more detail then the other books. I so enjoy that she has them work out their crap! They see how their behavior is damaging to each relationship in their lives. As someone who has seen the dark side of themselves and tries to face my own inner demons that make me do stupid things, I really appreciate that about her books.
If anyone knows another author that writes like this let me know. I love the steam but let’s not get in a sauna and not be able to breath love scenes and the inner workings of people who heal threw romances.
Finally…I have been waiting for Bo and Spencer’s book for what seems like forever. (Yes, I know that it hasn’t been that long, but I have wanted to read their complicated story for an eternity.) It was worth the wait, so worth it. Their complicated story was beautiful, heart warming, entertaining, challenging. The story is everything I have been wanting and didn’t know that I did.
For me, there is just something about Heidi Hutchinson’s writing style that sucks me in and makes me work for every bit of the story. I actually have to concentrate. Back ground noises aren’t tolerated. Distractions aren’t allowed. I need the to wear a t-shirt saying, “Don’t bother me. I am devouring my book.” Speed reading isn’t allowed. I don’t want to miss a single word.
Bo and Spencer have grown so much since this reader first met them. Bo has become an a wonderful man, even his parents can be proud of. He knows his heart and has the patience to wait for her to realize that they are one. Spencer is still searching for her soul. Too many lies, too many secrets have made Spencer a very complicated young lady. Her journey is one we all need to travel–honesty is the best policy. She has a hear of gold. She just needs to share it.
Puppy Love and Peanut Butter is the joining of two that are meant to be. Puppy Love and Peanut Butter is the story of high school sweethearts that were lost. Puppy Love and Peanut Butter is the story of two people with very big hearts that just need to learn to share them with each other and the reader.
This is such a great read has lots of twists and chemistry between them it kept me entertained. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly.

Just Wow! Another home run by Heidi Hutchinson. I loved it! Such and incredible story about first loves and second chances, full of endearing and sweet moments.
Once again we find ourselves in Huntington Beach in the middle of a group of friends we have grown to love. A perfect read with all the feels and swooning. This book shows us love can still grow and mature even a decade later.
This story is Bo and Spencer’s. In previous stories we learned these two are like oil and gasoline and have been forbidden to be in the same room because of the drama and fighting. But what we don’t know is their history and why they are how they are. We find out they were best friends and have loved each other since childhood. And we learn what happened in their lives to cause their disconnect.
This story is beautifully told. I love this author’s voice as she narrates her stories. It flows effortlessly and is calm and soothing, even through the hard parts. Each story is individual, heartfelt, strong, thoughtful and insightful. As in her previous stories, she takes us on the characters journey of self discovery, of letting go of childish fears and insecurities. And I loved how she handled the intimacy between them. It’s theirs and theirs alone.
It is a story of tight friendships that support each other with the safety net we all need to learn and grow. It is warm and loving with the right amount of humor to keep it from getting too heavy. I love the wholesomeness, how ordinary they are. Totally relatable.

This is book 3 in the Soaring Bird series and even though I haven’t read the first 2 books I wasn’t too lost. The author does a good job in the prologue going over the past of the 2 main characters to help fill you in. Bo and Spencer know just how to push each other’s buttons and they each enjoy getting under the other’s skin. A fun and enjoyable read and it’s great finding characters get a second chance at love.

Spencer Clementine and Bo Samson have know each other for years theirs is a on again off again love which I enjoyed reading. This is book three in the Soaring Bird series and is one I found myself laughing through, especially the bear spray episode even though that would have been an ouch. The third book in the series brings Bo and Spencer’s story. The author does a great job building their story , giving them a sizzling passion and hot chemistry. She takes them on a journey filled with tons of emotions .. both happy and sad .. and brings them together in the end. It’s a well written book, moves fluidly and is a beautiful love story. I would recommend reading this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Feelings. Lots and lots of FEELINGS.
Let me just say that after reading the prologue, I was already half in love with Bo. I found Spencer to be more complicated, both as a person and for me to connect with.
But I still enjoyed getting to know these two and finding out more about their (shared) history.
This was a very emotional read – which was fully expected (it *is* a Heidi Hutchinson book, after all 😉 ). What I didn’t expect though, was *who* would make me cry the most.
But there were lots of lighter moments, too, that made me smile and complementing all the angst and sad feelings very well. (And the epilogue had me laughing out loud. 🙂 )
The story probably works as a standalone, though if you haven’t read the first two books in the series, there might be some spoilers. Also – it sure helps if you are already familiar with the Soaring Bird “family” and their somewhat quirky group dynamics.
Bo & Spencer’s story… *sigh*
FINALLY.
We finally get the WHY!
I am so in love with these two.
They’ve stolen my heart.
Spencer is a fierce, little powerhouse wrapped up in a small package. Her heart is big, and her need to run even bigger.
Bo is a big ol’ hunk of tattooed surfer dude.
And he’s smart.
And kind.
And sexy AF.
And also a taco thief….but for good reasons.
My goodness, the chemistry between these two sparked and sizzled and made me all tingly and made me never want to stop reading.
What started out as young love grew into something more. Watching their relationship grow and bloom and mature was a beautiful, yet sometimes painful, thing. As much as I wanted (and needed) these two to be together, I know they both needed time. To do their thing, to get their life in order.
The superb storytelling of this author made their journey fun and exciting and sad and happy and a highly enjoyable one that stayed on my mind.
I must add that this series has the best cast of characters. So much fun, so much sass, and so many heartfelt moments.
And the cover…I need to add something about that, too. Isn’t it a sexy and fun cover?? So pretty! It’s one worth staring at, that’s for sure.
So, back to the story…
Do you need to read the first 2 books? No.
Do I recommend that you do? Yes, I would prefer you do.
The build up to this third book, the anticipation of Bo & Spencer’s story, is SO GOOD. And if you read books 1 & 2, this book will be that much better.
“Have you ever met someone so much like yourself that it was kind of scary?”
“She was the thunder that followed his lightning.” “Two wild fires competing for the brightest burn.” Pirates and mermaids.
“She was wild and unapologetic in her freedom”, yet she spends so much time being unaware of how great she is and shuts herself off emotionally for 10 years. “She’d been made to sustain.” He is done standing on the sidelines, watching her be unhappy.
“One of the hardest parts about not being with the woman I love is watching her kill parts of herself off slowly for someone else.” He decides to fight for her, even if that means fighting with her.
Spencer is a strong heroine who has spent too many years of her life treading water, “trying to emotionally adapt to every crisis that came barreling around the corner.” Bo is the hot, tattooed, surfer dude frenemy she fights with every time their group of friends gets together “and way too good for her.” Would she make “the sane choice” or “the one that made her heart feel free”?
Their complicated history, surfing, puppies and lifelong friendships serve as a backdrop as their love story unfolds!
A must read this summer!
I loved this book so much that I went back and read the first 2 books in the Soaring Bird Series. While all three are stand alones, there is something magical about the way that Heidi writes: the stories are simultaneous and interwoven and even better together!
