Spoiler Alert!
Laura is taking a school teaching job hired by Jeffery’s father Hawkes. Hawkes is use to doing shady things, one is drowning his wife Ann. Still suspicious things are happening at the copper moon ranch. Why? Because he wants to run Brody and his brothers off. There is something on the land he wants. Could be copper or could be loot from past robberies.
Brody and Laura were in love ten years ago, her father and brother beat Brody up and threatened him, instead of letting him get hurt Laura rejects his love and the family moves to California.
Her family is gone now ten years later, she is a wealthy woman.
When Hawkes finds out she still has feelings for Brody he fires her from the teaching position, but incorrectly he tells her he knows she loved him and brought her to distract Brody, just so he would loose his ranch.
Honestly I wish we find out in the book what happened, but were left with having to buy more books to get to the ending.
I’m disappointed with the way the story ends. Did Hawkes kill his wife? Was there treasure on the land? Copper? What happens when Hawkes finds out Laura didn’t die?
Says in the description that it’s a standalone book and that it’s not a cliffhanger.
Really didn’t get that statement. It is a cliffhanger, and the ending leaves many questions unanswered.
Kathleen Lawless never disappoints! And this is a whole new series…I can hardly wait!
I’ve read this now and have to say this is an enjoyable read…as expected. A great start to her new series
