The only place Ivy Linfield feels truly uninhibited is within the walls and gardens of Bridgestone. There, she is free of society’s expectations and her worries of the future. With the death of Lord Percival Barrington, the only grandfather figure she’s ever known, Ivy is torn between the grief of losing him and her beloved summer home. Losing Bridgestone, even to one as worthy and handsome as … handsome as Percival’s great-nephew Henry, seems cruel and unfair. So when Ivy learns of a provision in the will, she is more than willing to go to great lengths to secure the inheritance for herself. The only catch? Ivy must marry a man that fits a list of requirements before the season ends.
She quickly learns, however, that love has its own set of rules–rules that are not so easily defined nor understood. What if her opponent is actually the man she’s been searching for? Can Ivy secure a match before her time runs out, or will surrendering her heart mean losing all that was intended for her?

What a fun story. A beloved house, a will with a provisional clause, two young people with the same but different goals and a grandmother who is very wise. Heather Chapman is a new to me author but I will be looking for more of her books. Her characterizations are delightful.
I really, really liked this story. It is about Miss Ivy Linfield’s quest to own her loving grandfather’s home Bridgestone. She must marry by the end of the season to do so. Otherwise the property will be inherited by Percival’s heir his grandnephew Henry Thorne. Henry loved Bridgestone just as much as Ivy did. From the very beginning Ivy put Henry in the competitor’s box and treated him that way. She was determined to win no matter what. However, a peculiar set of rule or guidelines were established in Percival’s will that the gentleman she married must rise to and Henry was to be the judge of its adherence. What a story. It is whimsical, fun and delightfully entertaining. The author swept from one scene to another without dallying or providing filler. I found that style most refreshing and it made the story move smoothly and quickly along. For the most part I enjoyed the characters. Ivy’s Grandmother was a force to be reckoned with, Henry was manly with a pure and loving soul. But I had a little problem with Ivy’s character. As much as her grandmother claimed she had “pluck” I found her to get angry quickly and come to the wrong conclusions often. She misinterpreted many signs of the type of man she was to marry and there was this feeling of helplessness surrounding her that did not sit right with me. I did love the letters between her and her father. I thought those were telling and really poignant. In the end everyone got what they desired. HEA. A very good read.
This book was so enjoyable to read! I read it fast because I just couldn’t get enough. I loved the characters, their strengths and weaknesses, their growth and change. They are well written. The story was so unique and the love story very sweet. I also greatly appreciated that this book is clean. And I love the happy ending! I definitely recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy of the book. All opinions are my own and are expressed voluntarily.
I was thrilled to start this new multi-author series because of the authors involved. This first book did not disappoint! I laughed my way through the entire book. The storyline was fantastic-one if my favorites of the year. And the characters were so well written-that grandmother had quite a sense of humor and Henry and Ivy were the perfect pair!

I loved this book! I can’t say enough about it. I think Heather Chapman did such a great job with the character development and storyline. I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read more of her books!
This story is lovely and sweet. Reading this you just knew Henry and Ivy belonged together but time would tell. I loved Bridgestone and the secret garden. I loved Henry’s humor and Ivy’s stubbornness. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Loved this clean regency romance! The storyline was original and a breath of fresh air. I felt like I couldn’t stop smiling the last 2 chapters, I definitely loved the ending! I will be looking into other books by the same author!
This is a great read!! I really enjoyed the book, and it was very intriguing! There’s a letter in the book that is to “help” the heroine find her love. One thing I especially liked about the letter: “It would be well, also, if he is tall. (Skipping a bit) It is also nice to have a man around the residence who can reach things on high shelves.” This makes me chuckle, because I am vertically challenged, and don’t like heights!! I recommend this book if you like regency romances, and even if you don’t. This one may change your mind! I received an ARC copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely mine alone.
Ivy’s step-grandfather wanted her to find a man worthy of sharing Bridgestone with her when he wrote the provision that if she became engaged by the end of her first London season to a man that met the requirements her grandmother outlined she would inherit the property. Her grandmother wanted her to be with someone like her grandfather and her list was a bit over the top because of that. Ivy was so focused on the list and her goal of winning Bridgestone that she didn’t factor in what her heart wanted. Henry inherited Baron Barrington’s title, but I thought it was strange that everyone continued to call him Mr. Thorne. He was funny, trying to thwart Ivy’s suitors and a romantic at heart. The grandmother was funny too with her outrageous ways. I loved the idea of a secret garden and it reminded me of one of my favorite books from my youth.
