Starting over will have to wait.Reporter Andrea Davidson isn’t running from her mistakes. There’s no escaping the career-ending mess she fell into back home. But she is moving forward, and is halfway to a new life in California when someone breaks into her motel room. She’s lost her computer and her dignity, but that’s only the beginning of her newest problem: local news editor Graham Bradley.… Bradley.
Graham Bradley doesn’t know a thing about the newspaper business. A widower with a promise to keep, he’s got more than just his own personal welfare riding on this small-town paper. The last thing he needs is a pushy woman with a secret in her past and a vicious red pen throwing all his mistakes and insecurities front and center on his desk. Faced with an impossible choice, Graham hires Andi, but hopes she’s not just the last-and maybe worst-in a long line of bad decisions. Saving the small-town Gazette is the second chance both Andi and Graham need.
But with bill collectors calling, Andi’s past catching up fast, and the chemistry between them making work next to impossible, will Andi and Graham get the second chance they both desperately need? Or will their demise be the next big headline?

This was an amazing book that has characters that are not only well developed and engaging and are full of chemistry. The storyline was so well written that I was glued to it from the beginning to the end.

Andi and Graham both have pasts they are trying to move on from and when they meet the attraction is instant and fierce even though they try to keep things strictly professional it just does not work out that way and they eventually give in to their feelings. The drama of their situations seemed quite realistic and I liked how the author was able to educate the reader on how much goes into keeping a newspaper running.

Andi and Graham met each other after a burglary which left Andi with just the clothes on her back. At first the sparks flew, not the good kind however, but they quickly realized that theyneed each other. As they shared their pasts and secrets another kind of spark was kindled which left them with a decision – to act on it or try to ignore it. Another good read from one of my favourite authors. Well written with good chemistry between the characters.

Solid 3.5 star
Andi and Graham are likable characters who have both been through a lot of heartache and after Andi stumbles into town on her way to California sparks fly between them but not not about attraction but how hopeless the town paper is. There is plenty of hot and cold attitudes as well as sexual tension and attraction bouncing around them and then just when you think things are going well a twist that leaves everything on rocky ground. I didn’t quiet connect with the characters like I did in the Stonehill Series but it is a novella so you don’t have as much time to build the characters as you do a book so its understandable.

Emotional roller coaster of a romantic journey that is filled with witty banter, engaging charters and intriguing twists and turns….. a exciting romance filled with undeniable passion. Was a great read from beginning to end, really enjoyed reading this couples adventure in love.
Andi and Graham will have so much to overcome to be able to get a happy ending. A moneyed man pulling out of the bank most of the struggling town deals with, because of one man’s actions will be one of the items. Struggling to keep the paper going will be another. This is a well written story with a storyline that drew me in and did not let go until I finished reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A nice romantic read, good story line, and great characters. It’s evident the characters have great chemistry and try to keep their relationship professional but that isn’t always easy when the attraction gets in the way.

As one who’s really enjoyed Ms. Bolden’s first four novels of the Stonehill series, I was looking forward to this book. Unfortunately, compared to those stories, I didn’t feel like this one was as well written. Right on the first page, I saw a wrong word choice (a communicable disease, not a communal one). I felt like the couple, Andi and Graham, had a good rocky beginning as often happens in a romance, but they started to have an attraction to each other even during that which didn’t seem realistic. Their problems from the past seem like good fodder for motivations and conflict, but I didn’t feel the urgency or tension for most of the way along the story. The couple didn’t have chemistry for me. I thought the book ended too abruptly. Minutes before it ends, it looks like All Is Lost, but then it is resolved, and—BOOM!—the novella is over. I would have liked to have gotten a glimpse into more of the actual resolution and how they move on from there, both as a couple and professionally. As the one who adored that the author knew how to pull emotional heartstrings in the Stonehill series, I found this book to be a disappointment.
This was such a slow burn. After Andi loses her job in her town she moves on to California but doesn’t make it. She ends up working at a paper in a small town in Texas where she meets the owner, Graham. Even though they start off on shaky ground, their attraction is immediate and it takes what feels like years to finally cave in to their attraction. I only wish there was an epilogue to see how it turned out in the future for them.

This is a nice feel good tale. Most of the story is covered in the synopsis so I won’t repeat that. Andrea has to decide if she’s found what she’s after in the small town where Graham attempts to run the local newspaper.
The author tried to add some drama & slight suspense but it was merely touched on & not elaborated. While I liked the characters I just didn’t feel their connection. The sexual chemistry was definitely there however. This was good but not great.
