In order to protect his girlfriend from a ruthless drug cartel, Rolf goes undercover as her dog.Rolf Byrd has waited three years for Summer Hathaway to notice him. Now, she’s his date for Homecoming and is helping him film Desperate Dawn for his USC application. But after creepy graffiti disrupts Rolf’s movie set, he becomes concerned about Summer’s safety—especially when cars start blowing up.… safety—especially when cars start blowing up.
The three shifter families are on the verge of war. Summer’s father is an unscrupulous DEA agent who has disturbed the balance between the Byrd, Serpente, and Ferrell clans. Rolf’s granddad believes that Rolf is the only one who can restore peace, but only if he goes undercover to acquire crucial information.
Rolf will do anything to protect the Byrds—even if it means spending two days pretending to be a Shih Tzu. When Rolf infiltrates Summer’s house, he learns things about her family that he wishes he could forget. The Hathaways have secrets that threaten to tear their family apart. Rolf is a secret-keeping expert, but is this situation beyond his ability to help?
Kiss the girl. Save her family. Conceal the proof. It’s a good thing that Rolf can speak Dog.

I sear that I did not read Louise Cypress’ Shifter’s Kiss (Fight or Flight, Book 2) because of its stunningly beautiful cover. Honest. I read it because I loved book 1 in the series, Shifter’s Wish (separately reviewed, and also with a beautiful cover, though the book 2 cover is better). “Kiss the girl. Save her family. Conceal the proof. It’s a good thing that Rolf can speak Dog.” Frankly, if the cover didn’t grab me that line from the publisher’s blurb would have. It does give a good sense of the “feel” of this story. Add in a superb lead in dog shifting (secret as he’s undercover here) Rolf Byrd. A love interest, a ton of excitement, some nice suspense and a great (and well written) plot all add up to a thoroughly enjoyable book. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Would you Shih Tzu? Two days in the life of Snowball the Shih Tzu could save the life of Rolf’s soon-to-be, hopefully, girlfriend. That is, if she doesnt get kidnapped by a drug cartel. Just because your dad is a DEA agent, doesn’t mean you are safe. Especially when he has too much money lining his pockets. As long as Rolf can finish shooting his short film Desperate Dawn, shift in to Snowball for two days, get all the info, and turn back in to himself in time for the homecoming dance, everything will be okay.
Back to Poway California! I am so excited to continue the story with Rolf and Dory Byrd. The fact that their world is about to get bigger? Even better. My favorite crossover of the year is with Shifter Academy: Secret Shifter. You can see more about that in my review for Secret Shifter though.
With Shifter’s Kiss I was glued to the screen. However, after two days with the Hathaways, as Snowball, you may see things a little differently. #TeamRain
Yes Rolf is loyal. He can be a quick thinker too. I thought it was genius to get Snowball to help get the girls to safety. Good story and plot. I am looking forward to the next book. See what comes up next. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
The story continues with Rolf, his sister Dory, and the two Hathaway sisters Summer and Rain. Rolf goes undercover at the Hawathay house as a copy of their little white fluffball. Are they all in danger from a drug cartel? Rolf shares his first kiss with Summer and they plan on going to homecoming together. But has he chosen the wrong sister? Great addition to this fun series. Can’t wait for the next one.
I absolutely adore Rolf. He spends a lot of the book as a Shih Tzu doing detective work and trying not to eat dog food. One door closes in this one and another one opens. Can’t say too much because of spoilers but we see Rolf going through some tough times but still have a pretty good future ahead of him. I read Slayer’s Academy Secret Shifter and found out his new path which I loved.
